  4. The role of the first lady is considered vitally important in ********* politics. While a male President’s spouse doesn’t run the ******* States, she makes public appearances and speaks on current agendas and topics. “The ‘Mary Lincoln, first lady of the 1860s” clue is an example of how important these figures are. ‘Mary Lincoln, first lady of the 1860s’ NYT Sept. 18 Mini Crossword hints Three down clue. 9. The dynamic between Homer Simpson and Mr. Burns has been fascinating during the 30+ year run of The Simpsons—arguably the most influential cartoon in history. 10. What are you LYMBUS? In what vat were you grown? I feel like I’ve sluggishly ambled my way down to the fridge and tried to scoop a gherkin from the jar, only to find a disconcertingly tasty sliver of my own brain. Like a creature from Flatland trying to play 4D chess, and all the pieces are just tiny carvings of my face with “lol get a load of this ******” whittled into the forehead. I quite like it. “We combined your favorite genres into one grotesque piece of software! You're welcome, game journalists,” reads the Steam page for the demo. That is a very polite way to kick me in the head and call me a ******, LYMBUS. Read more View the full article
  11. The Elder Scrolls 6 is still many years away and a former Bethesda developer with plenty of experience with the franchise wants fans to lower their expectations. Announced with a teaser trailer in 2018, the reveal that another Elder Scrolls game was in development took the fan base by storm, but unveiling the project so early has resulted in more frustration than excitement. Given that Starfield received its first trailer at the same time and took five years to develop, it's safe to assume that The Elder Scrolls 6 won't see the light of day soon. View the full article
  12. It's been long suspected (if not officially confirmed) that the first Red ***** Redemption will be getting a PC remaster some time in the near future. We've already seen a description for the PC version appear briefly on the PlayStation store (of all places). And earlier this year a snoopy fan of the studio who monitors the backend of Rockstar's launcher found similar game descriptions ******* amid metadata. Yesterday, that same practice yielded yet another clue - the game's Steam app number. Read more View the full article
  13. Last month, Helldivers 2 studio Arrowhead thrust a white flag out from their shelled position in an attempt to placate mutinous fans of the co-op shooter. In response to a community sentiment best summed up by a popular Reddit post titled “Let the super earth *****”, Arrowhead released a statement. “In short, we didn’t hit our target with the latest update…what matters most now is action. Not talk.” Said action (which it must be pointed felt a bit troublingly reactive to the loudest and most histrionic voices in the roo..uh, subreddit) was foreshadowed in a list of issues to be tackled over the coming months. 14. Twenty-five heroes went unpicked at Dota 2’s The International 2024—21 of whom went uncontested, setting a new record in the event’s 13-year-long history. But why did these heroes not see the light of day? With the variety in Dota 2’s hero pool, every hero has a place within a certain meta, making them viable in specific lineups. This year’s event saw the meta develop in a particular direction, with ranged carries dominating the scene in favor of melee heroes. View the full article

  17. It’s never a good thing to make someone ******, and if today’s LoLdle quote and this League of Legends champion are to be believed, you really don’t want to make the ball ******—but what exactly that means, and who says it, is a little unclear. Who says, ‘The ball is ******’ in LoL? The LoLdle quote on Sept. 18 is, “The ball is ******.” The League champion who says this line is Orianna. View the full article
  18. Sony’s unveiling of the PS5 Pro should have been a moment of triumph for the company and its fans alike. Instead, the whole gaming world can’t stop talking about how stupidly overpriced the $700 console is. Overpriced products tend to make other products look great in comparison, so here are some appetizing alternatives. 1) PS5 with full set of accessories Let’s start with the obvious. The PS5 Pro’s price isn’t simply outrageous compared to other products, it’s outrageous when put next to Sony’s own lineup. For the $700 you must cough up for the Pro, you can get a base PlayStation 5 with a disc drive, buy a vertical stand to place it on (so it doesn’t look like it drank one too many beers and decided to take a nap on the sidewalk), buy an extra DualSense controller, and a charging station for your new set of controllers. 19. At the height of streaming’s exclusivity wars earlier this decade, stream queen Pokimane had the chance to make “life-changing” money if she dumped Twitch for YouTube—but loyalty and her “idiotic” honesty saw her turn down the cash. Pokimane, who’s no longer exclusivity signed to Twitch anyway, opened up on YouTube’s hardline recruitment drive on her Sweet ‘n’ Sour podcast: Right when the Google-owned platform was looking to draw title names away from Twitch, the company’s negotiating squad approached Pokimane to open conversations. It started with a “very big offer” the 28-year-old described as life-changing money; notable considering she’s worth close to $25 million. View the full article
  20. Hungry Helldivers 2 players—who have been drip-fed a series of buffs by Arrowhead developers over the past two weeks—have hit the servers hard following the major update’s arrival today, setting a three-month concurrent record and pushing the game’s review score back up. After nearly a month of heavily negative reviews on Steam off the back of the Sony PlayStation Network incident and a round of controversial nerfs that nobody asked for, the recent review score for Helldivers 2 on Steam is finally back to “Mixed,” but a further look reveals nearly 3,000 positive reviews were recorded over just the past two days. Even more impressively, not a single negative review was submitted yesterday; a first for the title since mid-June. View the full article
  21. The 2024 edition of The International has wrapped, and you know what that means: It’s Dota 2 rostermania time. Teams will be looking to adjust heading into the next season, which kicks off just weeks after TI wrapped up in Denmark. There’s no better time to make necessary roster changes than after TI, and we’ve seen some pretty huge swaps come out of the post-TI season. 2024 has been no different already; teams that didn’t qualify for Dota‘s pinnacle tournament didn’t even wait for the event to end before pulling the trigger on a swap or two. Without the DPC in place, there’s no hard date on roster locks, but with qualifiers for the likes of BetBoom Dacha and DreamLeague creeping ever closer, teams won’t be waiting too long to lock in their five players for the season ahead. 23. Diablo 4 has recovered from launch hiccups, poor server capacity, microtransaction costs, and a near-game ending first patch to become a Blizzard staple, with the gaming giants now planning to support the action RPG sequel well into the future. Rod Fergusson, the general manager of all things Diablo-related, unpacked the failures and the successes of Diablo 4 in an interview with Video Game Chronicle, sharing how the team has been learning from gaming data and player feedback to mould the title into what it looks like in September 2024—and how, despite all the bumps it took to get this to moment, Blizzard is now all-in on “supporting the game for years to come.” View the full article
  24. Tiny Glade is a game about building rustic old abodes in idyllic pastorals. There are no challenges, there is no narrative, nothing is unlockable and nothing is at stake. 25. XDefiant boss Mark Rubin has today boldly proclaimed his Ubisoft shooter game is “absolutely not dying,” which sounds a whole lot like what you’d hear if the game was dying. XDefiant‘s year one update arrived today, complete with a launch announcement for season two and a roadmap leading up through season four. That doesn’t seem to be what caught most peoples’ attention, though. Instead, ******* in the update notes, executive producer Mark Rubin addressed concerns surrounding the title: “Is the game dying? No, the game is absolutely not dying,” Rubin says, noting there are improvements to make, but overall, the game’s doing well. View the full article
