  2. Update: 12/30/2025 Brenda Romero has confirmed to PCGamesN that the Insider Gaming report misrepresents Romero Games' canceled title. "I have no idea where this rumor came from, but it is wildly inaccurate," she says. "There is no priest in the game. It was nothing like Hotline Miami." The original story follows: When you think Romero Games, you probably think Doom. Although John and Brenda Romero have left Id Software and the franchise behind, their legacy remains stronger than ever. With a strong hand in creating Wolfenstein and Doom, you could argue that they're responsible for creating the FPS genre, let alone inspiring the vast majority of titles on our list of the best FPS games. However, gaming's greatest power couple (sorry, Dame Aylin and Isobel) cancelled their latest game earlier this year after a swathe of Microsoft layoffs impacted their studio. Finally, we have some information about what that game could have been. Read the rest of the story... 6. I wondered how Owlcat Games would follow-up its hit CRPG Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader, but I didn't expect another adventure in the 41st millennium quite so soon. The studio is still releasing DLC for Rogue Trader, has announced a Mass Effect-style RPG based on The Expanse novels, and now has its own publishing arm putting out mysteries like Rue Valley, which Disco Elysium writer Robert Kurvitz consulted on. After playing nearly ten hours of the Warhammer 40k Dark Heresy alpha, however, I'm certain it has even more in common with Disco Elysium than Owlcat's time loop mystery. 8. All Arcane Odyssey classes and stat builds can be good and pretty much all are usable thanks to the fixes in the full release update (Knight enjoyers rejoice). The aim of this tier list is not to tell you what you shouldn't play but to outline nuances, strengths and weaknesses. Here's my Arcane Odyssey class and stat build tier list. Arcane Odyssey Class & Stat Build Tier List TierList by Destructoid / Icon Art by Lara Deka (AO Fandom Wiki Admin) There is no definitive best class in Arcane Odyssey since each one can be good for certain game modes and scenarios. With the Release update even previously weaker classes like Knight and Juggernaut were drastically improved. That said, some are better than others in specific areas like 1v1s, Clan PVP fights and killing bosses. Check out my ranking explanations for individual classes below. As for the tier breakdowns here's what they mean: PVP S-Tier : Naturally powerful A-Tier : Requires build adjustments to be powerful B-Tier : Requires build adjustments and heavy play style tweaking to be powerfulPVE S-Tier : Best boss killers A-Tier : Great all-rounders and beginner-friendly B-Tier : Require help and specific weapons/styles/relics to be good C-Tier : Not beginner-friendly and really hard to build Great Beginner Classes: Mage, Conjurer and Oracle are very beginner-friendly and easy to progress with. Great All-Rounder Classes: Mage, Oracle, Conjurer, Warlock and Savant are some of the best classes for all game modes (1v1 Duels, Clan PVP and PVE). Not Beginner Friendly: Berserker, Warrior, Warlord, Savant Arcane Odyssey Class Ranking ExplanationsClassRanking Explanation Mage Primary Stat Build - 60% Magic Focuses on Magic (Two Magic Choices)PVE • Best beginner and PVE-friendly build • You can get Leaps from both of your Magic slots for amazing PVE exploration • Learn to kite bosses with Leaps at range and barrage them with blast spells from afar for great DPS PVP • Best for Clans where you focus on attack size with high AOE spells like from Metal or the Snow and Ice combo • Not as strong in 1v1 but can be good with practice with Snare and Self Explosion to punish builds that dive you in melee • Blast spells are great for punishing enemies in melee during end-lag while Beams punish enemies on the ground and at range Oracle Primary Stat Build - 60% Spirit Focuses on RelicsPVE • Relics make you extremely flexible since most of the items have really good movesets • Eagle Patrimony is an amazing beginner moveset since you can spam Spirit Blast for DPS and have good defenses with Spirit Wall • Also Oracle as a Primary Stat build in general is great for PVE plus most Relics you'll find are really good for progression • Crystal Orb is specifically strong against bosses too since you can spawn a clone with Aithiraki PVP • Staff of Night is amazing for Clan PVP since it's got massive AOEs with an attack size build • Not as strong for PVP duels since you don't have that many combos Warrior Primary Stat Build - 60% Weapons Focuses on WeaponsPVE • Incredible versatile due to being able to use any weapon for the situation in both PVP and PVE • Not the most beginner friendly since you have to find weapons to be good and you don't have a lot of exploration mobility • That said you're amazing against bosses with Bows, Guns, Pistols, Swords and Staff for high weapon damage and Bleeding • One of the best boss farm classes PVP • Very flexible for 1v1 and Clans • For clans invest into attack size with large AOE abilities like whirlwind or shockwave spear stabs • For 1v1 go with an attack speed build with a lot of grabs/combos/stabs though the exact weapon depends on your opponent Berserker Primary Stat Build - 60% Strength Focuses on Fighting StylesPVE • Not beginner-friendly since you need to find different fighting styles, grind mastery, and have a lot of moves & Strength for this to be good • Berserkers are best if you progress as a different PVE class and then Stat Reset later into them • They're weak in PVE since you cannot grab bosses but you can use specific styles to be better • Get Axe-Slash which makes fighting bosses easier and later get Thermo Fist with a Power Focus buff to farm bosses • You'll need help from other players at first but once you get some crucial Fighting Styles you'll be better off PVP • Berserker is arguably the best PVP class in the game due to combos and grabs • You have to learn to parry and dodge various spells though • That said, your offense is amazing at close range since you have flexible moves for everything • Uppercut for enemies above, smash moves for below and shot moves for the side • Move cooldowns aren't shared between fighting styles so switch and spam them • Focus on attack speed for 1v1 and attack size with shockwaves for Clans Warlock Hybrid Stat Build - 40% Magic, 40% Strength (Magic or Strength can't go above 60%)PVP • Allows you to apply on-hit Magic effects via your Fighting Styles • Not beginner-friendly since you have to make specific combos with Fighting Styles and Magic • That said you can use Magic to carry you in PVE as you're starting out PVP • You're one of the best 1v1 classes since you can fight well at a distance but also grab for good combos • For Clans you can just focus on attack size and your Magic skills for high AOE damage • Can counter any Meta build by optimizing different Fighting Styles and Magic • Not beginner friendly for PVP Paladin Hybrid Stat Build - 40% Spirit, 40% Magic (Spirit or Magic can't go above 60%)PVE • Access to great exploration via Relic Leap and the 5-times Leap from Magic for easy traversal • You're decent against bosses similar to the Oracle and Mage but you have to learn to kite back with Leaps • Overall it's decent for PVE and very beginner-friendly PVP • Best of both worlds from Mage and Oracle so check those notes out since the same applies for Paladin • Plus you get increased Health and Regeneration • You're mixing high AOE Magic and Relics with attack size increases • Basically you get access to the best of the Nigh Staff's moves and Orb's Clone with Magic access • All of this is mainly for Clans but for 1v1 you have an attack speed precision build with the Orb minion Warlord Hybrid Stat Build - 40% Weapons, 40% Strength (Weapons or Strength can't go above 60%)PVE • Same as Warrior since your bleeding and weapon combos do a lot of damage to bosses • Same as PVP, go with Fighting Styles that synergize with bleeding for weapon procs PVP • Amazing for Clans since you have so many AOE options • Between Shot and Smash as well as using Fighting Styles that synergize with bleeding for weapons to proc, you're really strong in clans • For 1v1, you're a bit slow but you can focus on attack speed and grabs to catch up Conjurer Hybrid Stat Build - 40% Magic, 40% Weapon (Magic or Weapon can't go above 60%)PVE • Invest into Magic first for story and progression (I recommend Metal for easy early progression) • You're okay against bosses at this point but not the best • Then later you can invest into weapons to become better at doing bosses PVP • This is where this class shines since you are so flexible • Weapons are great for 1v1 while Magic is great for Clans • You're similar to Warlock in terms of your flexibility just without as many combos Juggernaut Hybrid Stat Build - 40% Spirit, 40% Strength (Spirit or Strength can't go above 60%)PVE • Faces similar problems to Berserker • You cannot grab bosses so I recommend the same styles as I did for the Berserker to fight bosses better • That said the Relics do make it a bit easier to progress and give you more options • Still a better PVP class though PVP • Iron Leg and Sailor Style work really well with Eagle Patrimony due to status effect synergies • Ekrix is an excellent Dodge Reflex for Juggernaut for further damage reduction • You're amazing in Clans with attack size since you have so much AOE between Relics and Styles Knight Hybrid Stat Build - 40% Spirit, 40% Weapons (Spirit or Weapons can't go above 60%)PVE • Knight is much better in the release update than before due to the weapon loadout changes • Decent DPS with similar to notes to Warrior but with added healing • Overall a decent choice but I prefer it for PVP PVP • Great for 1v1s due to increased health, regeneration and precise attacks • Decently flexible with weapon selection that you can use to counter different builds • Also has options to invest in attack size for Clan PVP with good shockwave moves from weapons Savant Three Stats Build - At least 10% in Three Stats (Less than 50% in one and no more than 40% in two)PVE • Hard to build for beginners and hard for progression unless you focus on Magic first • Requires a lot of time, grinding and specific weapons, fighting styles, relics and spells to be good • Best option is to play something else like Mage and then respec into Savant PVP • Can be really strong but really hard to build • It's easy to make a weak build unless you're going for specific combos • Overall Hybrid classes are better That's it for my Arcane Odyssey class and stat build tier list. 11. A new set of weekly trials is now live in ARC Raiders, and we have one week to complete five different tasks. This is the second weekly trials of Season 2, and some of the tasks can be pretty challenging. This guide will help you quickly get three stars for all five tasks to get the best possible rewards. Table of contentsARC Raiders Week 10 Trials guideThrow snowballs at RocketeersDeal damage to ShreddersDamage flying ARC enemiesOpen ARC probesDestroy FireballsARC Raiders Week 10 Trials guide Here are the tasks for Week 10 Trials. Throw snowballs at RocketeersDeal Damage to ShreddersDamage flying ARC enemiesOpen ARC ProbesDestroy FireballsThrow snowballs at Rocketeers Image via Embark This is a slightly funny task, but it can be dangerous if you aren't careful. For starters, you'll find snowballs on maps with the Cold Snap condition active. You'll want to get to an elevated building since the snowballs won't have a long range. You can throw snowballs in the same way you throw a grenade. However, you'll want to hit and take cover so that the Rocketeer doesn't hit you with its rockets. Spots like the Control Tower in Spaceport are an excellent spot to kit and target Rocketeers (if you find one at the spot). Do note that snowballs don't do any damage, so they don't contribute to the third task of this week's trial. Deal damage to Shredders For this task, you'll want to play in Stella Montis. This map, by far, has the highest spawn rates for Shredders. Shredders are typically behind locked doors and rooms, but they can spawn randomly. They're relatively complex to take down, and you'll want to use heavy weapons. To complete the task, you don't need to eliminate the Shredder. However, doing so will help you get Shredder Gyros, which are required for completing the Expedition 2 project. Damage flying ARC enemies This is the easiest of the five tasks, as flying ARCs are easy to spot. They are found on all maps, and you can take down the likes of Hornets and Wasps as they're easier targets. However, try to avoid targeting Rocketeers since you're likely going to die in the process. Open ARC probes Screenshot by Destructoid ARC probes are found randomly across all maps. They don't do any damage, but make noise when you try to breach and open their inventory. This noise can attract nearby ARCs, so be careful. ARC probes also take relatively longer to breach, but they can provide you with valuable rewards. Destroy Fireballs Screenshot by Destructoid Fireballs aren't my favorite type of enemies. While they're easy to eliminate, they often end up jumping you when you expect the least. Ideally, you can find them on all five maps, including Stella Montis. I have spotted them frequently in the residential areas of Dam Battlegrounds, like Pale Residence and Ruby Residence buildings. To destroy a Fireball, you'll want to keep distance and wait for it to fire. Its core will be exposed, and usually a couple of shots will do the job. Destroying Fireballs will help you get Fireball Burners, which are required to complete the Flickering Flames project. 12. The Shrooms update in Schedule 1 has finally added a new drug for players to grow, and they have their own unique mixes to help you make more money. Shrooms work slightly different from how other products work in the game. But the basic formula remains the same. Once you grow Shrooms, you can then mix them with various additives to add different effects, and this will raise the value. Here's a bunch of some fun mixes that you can create. Table of contentsHow to grow Shrooms in Schedule 1Best Shroom mixes in Schedule 1 In my experience, Shrooms are ideally meant to be mixed with additives. You can sell the base product, but the revenue you get from that is relatively low. Hence, it's best to mix them with at least one additive before you choose to sell the product. You'll also require an Mk2 Mixing Station to create the mixes. Here are some recipes for you to try. You can create other mixes on your own, and you'll always make a profit. I have just chosen variants that help you make the most profits. Other recipes might exist that give you more revenue, and I will add them to this guide once I find out. Secondly, the ***** prices mentioned here largely depend on how well you can negotiate. That said, the final amount should be close to the numbers listed in this guide. How to grow Shrooms in Schedule 1 To make the mixes in this guide, you'll need to grow Shrooms. You can find the detailed steps mentioned in this guide, but here's a quick rundown. Purchase the required items from Phil, Oscar, and Dan.Place the items and add water and fertilizers to the Mushroom Bed.Wait for the batch to grow, and you'll have your Shroom. The only remaining task is to place the Shrooms and the additives in the Mixing Station to create the variants. The major update has taken a long time to arrive, and allows you to grow your own Shrooms (aka addictive mushrooms). To do so, however, you'll need to install an AC in your setup. This guide will help you figure out all you need to know to efficiently use the AC. Table of contentsHow to get the AC in Schedule 1How to use the AC in Schedule 1How to get the AC in Schedule 1 To get the AC, you'll need to buy it from Dan's Hardware. You'll find the shop close to the starting motel. Speak with Dan, and you can then purchase the AC. Do note that you can opt to buy more ACs, but for starters, getting one is enough. If you're working on the Vibin' on the 'Cybin quest, you'll be told about how to purchase the AC. But first, you'll need to buy a bunch of different items. Grain Bag from Fungal PhilSpore Syringe from Fungal PhilSpawn Station from OscarMushroom Bed from OscarMushroom Substrate from Fungal Phil Once done, you can then purchase the AC unit from any hardware store. The item will cost $1,500 per unit, so it's certainly an expensive product. Screenshot by Destructoid How to use the AC in Schedule 1 The AC is used to lower the temperature in a room. You'll have to place it near the spot where you'll place the Mushroom Bed (used to grow the spores). Set the AC to "Cool" to lower the room temperature to the required level for growing the Shrooms. At the time of writing, no other types of drugs require an AC, but this could change with a future update. 22. This year has been an amazing one for games, especially those made by small teams and indie studios. Corporate gaming has lost big time in 2025, and we as gamers only stand to gain because of that. Roguelikes are truly representative of the indie sphere, and have been for quite some time now. Most of those great indie hits of 2025 were precisely in this genre, as it allows for fun, simple, yet highly effective gameplay loops that kept us yearning for just one more run. So, to commemorate the best of the best in this fantastic year, here is our selection of the best roguelikes released in 2025. Table of contentsThe absolute best roguelikes from 2025Elden Ring: NightreignCloverPitSlots & DaggersHades IIBall x PitWhite KnuckleBlue PrinceVOID/BREAKERMegabonkThe absolute best roguelikes from 2025Elden Ring: Nightreign Image via FromSoftware Elden Ring: Nightreign is more or less the only AAA game on this list, or rather, a game made by a AAA studio. Coming out of the FromSoftware kitchen of earthly delights, this roguelike spin on FromSoftware's massively successful Soulslike is as fun as it is innovative, given that the Soulslike genre and games never really dipped into the roguelike sphere. It's honestly Elden Ring in name only, taking the technical grounds laid by the original game and constructing something entirely new. It's fast-paced, exhilarating even, and tremendously challenging for even the most seasoned Soulslike veterans. The roguelike elements, while there, aren't so well-developed, but the overall experience is still built around them, providing you with an established IP with traditional mechanics that are bound to keep you captivated for hours on end. CloverPit Screenshot by Destructoid Clover Pit is a massive indie hit that first came out this fall, following the footsteps of other incredible roguelikes like Megabonk. It was quite a few months for roguelikes between September and November, and I don't reckon we'll see so many back-to-back hits in a single genre again for a long time. Clover Pit, like Balatro, takes the addictive nature of gambling and combines it with roguelike elements that are more addictive still, producing a one-of-a-kind experience where you eagerly anticipate each spin of the slot machine. Though unique and quite in-depth, Clover Pit can be easily broken, leading to some wild numbers even on your first run. The one thing I liked the most about it is the art style, which reminded me of Buckshot Roulette, another indie classic that completely took over social media during its run, leaving a tremendous mark on Internet culture—not much unlike Clover Pit and other games on this list. Slots & Daggers Image via Friedmann Speaking of slot machines, I had to put Slots & Daggers in here. The artistic vision of this game is so innovative, cool, and unique that it would've been a great disservice to all indies in the world if I had ignored it. It, too, takes slot machine mechanics, but instead of doing the Balatro thing, this hame places them into a fantasy roguelike dungeon-crawling environment, itself ending up with an incredible one-of-a-kind experience. It seems like the key to roguelike success is combining gambling with whatever else comes to mind, so long as it looks and plays well (which it no doubt will). Slots & Daggers is played more like a traditional dungeon crawler of old and has combat instead of just numbers on a screen, but it's still an experience worth trying out. Hades II Image via Supergiant Games Hades 2 is the sequel to the already successful (and amazing) Hades, a game that completely changed the world of roguelikes. Much like its predecessor, the game is set in the world of Greek mythology, has all the flashy and innovative action mechanics, and innovative character-oriented storytelling introduced by the first game. Our Scott Duwe gave the game a 9.5/10 earlier this year, saying it's an overall improvement over the first game in just about every possible way. He did note some repetitiveness in the early areas, which is more than made up for by its overall replay value and addictive gameplay. I mean, it's Hades, what did you expect? Ball x Pit Screenshot by Destructoid If you had told me you could make a fantastic roguelike with ****** sometime last year, I'd say you've gone completely off the rails. It appears that yes, indeed, it can be done, and boy, is it amazing. Ball X Pit is one of the most surprising hits of the year, combining a simple gameplay loop with incredible visuals that enhance every second of each individual run. You launch ****** at rows of enemies coming down a corridor—that's basically it—but your whole experience is enhanced and altered by various items and buffs you can pick up between runs. It's proof that a small team can cobble up an addictive and innovative experience by iterating on established concepts, smashing them all together, and making sure that the art takes precedence over everything else. White Knuckle Image via Dark Machine Games Getting Over It: The Roguelike just had to make its way on our list. Sure, I'm being rather reductive, given how well-polished and thought-out White Knuckle actually is. The game revolves around your climbing from the bottom of a decrepit pit, encountering all sorts of products of death and decay on your way up. You'll have to be quick, with sharp reflexes, and enhanced with all sorts of buffs that you can acquire to be able to reach the very top. The art style is very reminiscent of that same one found in Clover Pit, Buckshot Roulette, and many other horror-adjacent games from the past few years, which, I dare say, actually works quite well in a title revolving around literally climbing out of hell. Blue Prince Image via Dogubomb Puzzle games are a personal favorite of mine, and when they're made into shifting, replayable roguelikes, I just have to give them a try. Blue Prince is exactly that: a puzzle game wrapped in a roguelike container, where each experience is different and unique, covered in a veil of mystery and intrigue that inspires you to continue pushing through new levels, solving all sorts of assignments in search of Room 46. It's also one of the prettiest games on this list, with a comic-like art style that reminds me of an old game called XIII, which really helps to enhance this sort of noir detective aesthetic it's got going on. VOID/BREAKER Image via Stubby Games Given that I cannot qualify Risk of Rain 2 for a list like this (even if it did get a new DLC in 2025), I had to settle for VOID/BREAKER. It's a wild ride and a first-person shooter at heart, but one that'll certainly scratch that itch of yours for chaos and destruction. Things ramp up super quickly, with flashy effects covering most of your screen (and probably crashing your PC eventually). You fight rogue AIs, combine various items that synergize well, and craft the ultimate weapons of mass destruction as you ravage through hordes of enemies in the most ********-fuelled ways imaginable. Megabonk Image via vedinad They say you should always save the best for last, which is exactly what I did here. Megabonk is the biggest indie surprise of the year (if we discount Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from the indie category, and we wouldn't be the first to do so), taking that same formula outlined by Vampire Survivors and smashing it together with Risk of Rain's itemization. The result is as you'd expect: a chaotic, sober drug trip where countless enemies emerge from the ground as you, beset on all sides, ravage through them with unique item combinations and sheer luck. The replayability is endless, the characters are funny as f**k, while the memes run rampant across the board, leaving you smiling, laughing, and satisfied after each individual run (even if you get killed on the first level). It's just one of those games that'll endure the test of time and live on in the collective consciousness of players. The post The best roguelikes from 2025 appeared first on Destructoid. 23. For years now, GOTY winners tend to be RPGs. It's a genre that encapsulates games as an art form almost perfectly, allowing each and every part of video games as an interactive medium to truly shine and stand out. While interactivity by itself can be the basis of fun in games, RPGs take all of that to the next level, contending with traditional mediums like novels or films and proving that yes, video games can tell tremendous stories while letting you intervene in the narrative. This year was amazing for RPGs of all kinds, and one of them even won the Game of the Year, which, as I've said, is sort of traditional by this point. So, here are the best RPGs that had come out in 2025. The absolute best RPGs from 2025Monster Hunter: Wilds Screenshot via Capcom Proper, purely story-driven RPGs weren't so many this year, at least there weren't many on the same level of narrative quality as is to be expected of cRPGs. However, the RPG genre is broad, allowing for a multitude of core gameplay mechanics that are experienced by virtue of a character, whose role you take upon yourself. With that in mind, I had to include Monster Hunter: Wilds. Tough it suffered from abysmal performance on launch, the game has come a long way since, as Capcom addressed the majority of its problems and made the game properly playable through a ton of patches, updates, and hotfixes. When we look past all its surface-level issues, Monster Hunter: Worlds remains one of the best action-RPG games of this year (and many other years as well), providing you with a recognizable monster-hunting experience taken up to 11. With more *******, badder monsters, MHW is truly among the best in the franchise, and is only going to get better. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Image via Warhorse Studios Now that we have action out of the way, it's time for some real narrative kickers. A sequel to the stellar 2018 title, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a direct continuation of its predecessor's story, taking place in an impeccably accurate medieval Bohemia (today's Czech Republic) amid social upheaval and, as is expected of medieval Europe—war. KCD2 builds on the foundations laid by the first game and improves just about every aspect, streamlining those systems that were too confusing, complex, or straight up boring while generally expanding on the story, RPG elements, and other aspects of the world. You can do just about anything in this game, perform any task, all at your own pace. It's one of the most robust RPG experiences out there, one where choices really matter and where your actions reflect upon the world in meaningful ways, allowing me to deem it a true RPG in every sense of the phrase. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Image via Kepler Interactive You knew it, I knew it, the editors knew it before we even pitched the article: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 had to be on this list. It's not even that interesting at this point, because no matter what game category is discussed, even if it has the slimmest, smallest connection to E33, it's going to be mentioned. It's everyone's game of the year, yours, ours, Geoff's, you name it. It's a JRPG at heart, with meager roleplay mechanics that set it apart from a classical RPG experience, though it remains strongly within this modern, more broad definition of what an RPG is. Of course, you won't find many notable story decisions to make here, but that doesn't really matter, given just how amazing the core narrative is by itself. The characters are tremendously well-written, the voice acting performances are fantastic, and everything in this title comes together to form one cohesive narrative experience that you won't forget for a long time after the credits roll. The Outer Worlds 2 Image via Obsidian Entertainment Coming off of the first Outer Worlds game, I'd bet not many people expected the sequel to be so good. The first game, while fun, wasn't a great RPG by any means, and played more like an action game with RPG elements than a proper Obsidian RPG. That all changes with the sequel, which threw me back to the days of Obsidian's New Vegas, and that's no surprise given that the best of the company's designers worked on it. The writing is impeccable, funny when it should be and dark when needed, produced by some of the most capable minds in the history of RPGs. What's more, most of the biggest names that worked on this title are more-or-less responsible for the RPG revolution of the 90s and early 2000s, which really shows in the dialogues. I loved the world building, the art style, and its speech-heavy approach to gameplay. But, if you prefer alternate modes of roleplaying, you're by all means allowed to do it, and there are high chances the devs thought of it before you did. Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector Image via Jump Over The Age I had to put in at least one cRPG before I closed the list off, as I truly believe this “sub” genre represents what RPGs should be as a whole. It's a heavy narrative game, with texts and dialogues more important than any other gameplay mechanic. You talk your way through this game, much like you would in something like Disco Elysium. I played this title's predecessor, which, though rather simple, had some of the most amazing writing I had ever come across in a video game. The sequel, too, is on equal footing, though it improves everything the first game did well, including the narrative. I loved it, especially the art style, and I'm fairly certain you would, too, if you were to give it a shot. I mean, it's on this list for a reason.
