  5. 2024 has been a year of ups and downs, and while that can be said for every year, this one exemplified the "it's over and we're so back" meme -- from the fantastic year of platformers in the form of Astro Bot, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and Sonic X Shadow Generations, to wonderful movies like Wicked, Alien Romulus and Longlegs. But like I've said before, the year also had its lows where even established franchises like Dune, Like a Dragon, Mario and plenty of others had a hard time sticking the landing between their multiple releases this year. And like the content we consume, we as humans are also subject to ups and downs throughout the year, and we know everyone has their good and bad days. But it's time to recognize the most outstanding members of our community -- the users that more often than not exemplify the best parts of our community. We enjoy celebrating them for all they do to create a positive atmosphere here at IGN. From users who comment daily to those who visit sparingly, we are grateful for your passion for and dedication to having spirited conversations with your fellow community members. They say good things come in threes, so to celebrate our third year of fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all members we're once again paying tribute to our top users based on their accounts and how they interact with others in the community. Last year we celebrated and rewarded 11 upstanding members of our community, with of a portion of them maintaining a perfect comment record. Those members were Midori85, 1track, wuzzgoodhommy, tenken8, ForceStream, CurryLova, Doctor_MG, NDWest14, McGarnicle, TAGibby4, and Real Frowns. To up the ante this year we will be celebrating 15 users! Check back next week when we unveil the best-performing members of the community that topped the comment charts. The winners will all be receiving a gift of IGN Plus as a way of saying thank you, so keep an eye out for our update early next week, and for our winners an e-mail detailing how to redeem your gift. IGN Community Voted Awards Now, for those who live vicariously through their favorite games, movies, TV shows, and more, here are the current results for each category that the IGN Community voted on: Best Comic Book/Graphic Novel of 2024 Transformers (32.4% of the votes) Best Horror Movie of 2024 Alien: Romulus (41.9% of the votes) Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie of 2024 Dune: Part Two (55.8% of the votes) Best Horror Game of 2024 Silent Hill 2 (82.0% of the votes) Best Anime of 2024 Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (58.9% of the votes) Best RPG of 2024 Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth (45.8% of the votes) Best PC Game 2024 Balatro (44% of the votes) Best Xbox Game of 2024 Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (67.3% of the votes) Biggest PlayStation Game of 2024 Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth (35.9% of the votes) Runner-Up: Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth[/b]After the prelude that was Final Fantasy 7: Remake, we finally get to the heart of the adventure in the second in Square Enix’s planned trilogy. Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth encompasses some of the most important moments from the original, but more than that stands on its own as a brilliant open world RPG.What stands out almost immediately is how much love Square Enix has for these characters. It’s clear Square Enix wants players to spend as much time as they can with Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barrett, and Red XIII, providing plenty of side quests and minigames, and expanding entire moments so that we can all spend just hang with the gang some more before they resume their mission in the fight against Sephiroth. It makes these moments all the more valuable too, given the ending to Rebirth and the approaching finale."/>Best Nintendo Game of 2024 The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (50.2% of the votes) Best TV Show of 2024 Agatha All Along (27.5% of the votes) Best Movie of 2024 Dune: Part Two (44.3% of the votes) Best Game of 2024 ****** Myth: Wukong (17.4% of the votes) Thank you to everyone who participated in our community-voted awards categories this year. In nine of the 13 categories, the winners garnered over 40% of the total votes, so while some of you may be prone to spirited debates, a large portion of you agreed on your 2024 favorites. We even have blowouts in a few categories: Silent Hill currently has over 80% of the votes for Best Horror Game, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has over 67% of the votes for the Best Xbox Game. The closest category you voted on was the Best Game of 2024, which was decided by less than 1500 votes, cementing ****** Myth: Wukong as the IGN audience's favorite over Astro Bot and Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, which are tied for second. And while Game of the Year was the most-voted category this year, the Best TV Show category was just behind it in total votes and, despite the resentment we often hear around recent Marvel projects, it was Agatha All Along that took the win with 27.5% of the votes, beating out popular shows like Shogun, Fallout, and The Penguin. Again, thank you to everyone who joined in on the fun; we look forward to seeing how 2025 turns out. Keepin' It Clean Throughout the year, we have also been monitoring those on the opposite end of the spectrum who do not foster a positive experience. We remove the most problematic users regularly to improve everyone's overall experience. But we also use this time before the end of the year as an opportunity to remove those who were given more time to see if their infractions throughout the year created a pattern or were potentially just someone having a bad day or week. So, in addition to recognizing the users who uplifted our community, we have also removed several users who have consistently violated our community guidelines. These banned accounts are those who have engaged in hate speech, harassment, or other toxic behaviors. We know these actions are not always popular, but they are necessary in our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone at IGN. With that being said we will be updating the ToS in 2025, so be sure to check them out once those go live in early January. As we continue to build upon our community, we will continue to monitor and address any problematic behavior to ensure that our community remains a positive and inclusive place for everyone. We can create a respectful, supportive, and enjoyable community by working together. Keep an eye out in 2025 as we have even more plans for the community to ensure we are fostering a welcoming space for everyone and hopefully a few surprises. We appreciate our readers who regularly make us their home for gaming, entertainment, and more. We are excited to continue building and improving together in the coming months and years. Once again, thank you to all of you who regularly do your best to create a positive experience on IGN. View the full article
  6. The new patch for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl fixes a lot of different problems in the game. There are more improvements than what would typically be found in a 1.1 patch, as the developers at GSC Game World went above and beyond. The patch addresses over 1,800 issues still lingering in the game after launch. Many of these issues would break immersion and make the game less fun. These aren't high-level problems, but they still get attention, which is great for players. View the full article

  12. Helldivers 2 has already had its share of community-wide controversies less than a year after its release, with the latest being a potential turning point for the franchise. 23. Tower Defense Simulator is sending in a wave of winter presents for Roblox players with its gargantuan 1.46.0 patch a.k.a. the Frost Invasion update, including the new Outpost 32 map, two new event towers, a new battle pass, and so much more. Developer Paradoxum Games has spent the last week teasing a massive update, and patch notes for today’s update suggest Frost Invasion may have been worth the hype. There are plenty of rewards for both free and premium players in the event’s chilly battle pass, with some highlights for the latter including a Double Chunk Chocolate Cookie emote, the Dark Frost Electroshocker, and a Frost Legion Mercenary Base. Tower Defense Simulator update 1.46.0 also comes with the long-awaited Sandbox Mode for those looking to experiment as well as an Enemy Index, which can be used to keep track of and learn more about your foes. Frost Invasion itself injects some story background into the world of Tower Defense Simulator. A description from Paradoxum explains that the event takes place in the research facility known as Outpost 32 and involves the genius Professor V. “However, during a routine test on the portal, a catastrophic malfunction occurred—tearing a rift to the Frost Dimension,” the description says. “Now, waves of Frost Invaders are pouring through, threatening to obliterate the facility and its vital research.” To help fight back against the Frost Spirit and his army, Tower Defense Simulator players have been granted access to two new event towers: the Elementalist Tower and the Snowballer Tower. The former can be unlocked by beating Frost Invasion on hard mode, while beating easy mode is all that’s required to unlock the latter. Paradoxum has given players the gift of more content this holiday season, and it’s a gift that should keep everyone preoccupied for the near future. Whether you’re looking to save the world from the Frost Spirit as a newcomer or veteran tower defender, you can click here to see our full list of all active Tower Defense Simulator codes. 24. One of the fun things about modern day Call of Duty games is that new weapons are constantly added over time, and they are often throwbacks to past games. The Barret .50 Cal is a favorite sniper in past CoD games, and it’s back under a new name in ****** Ops 6. The AMR Mod 4 is a reward for the Archie’s Festival Frenzy event in December 2024, but it will become an Armory Unlock once the event has come to an end. Either way, it’s a weapon you will want to pick up and add to your arsenal as soon as you can. View the full article
  25. OneXPlayer has revealed its latest gaming handheld design, with an odd combination that sees a single device operating as both a laptop and a handheld. The new OneXPlayer G1 is the first product from the company in this form factor, as it starts using the latest AMD Strix Point processors. While the Steam Deck currently reigns as the best gaming handheld right now, OneXPlayer has been in this sector for even longer than Valve. The company's new OneXPlayer G1 is quite a boxy device, with similar looks to the GPD Win Max 2. It opens like a laptop, with a removable keyboard and then, when you're ready to game on it, you can pick it up like a controller. Read the rest of the story...
