  1. Fine, I admit it: I don’t know how to play Poker. I’ve watched Casino Royale, but that’s as far as my knowledge goes. Hey, I know how to play Twenty-One and Uno. That counts for something, right? Either way, I struggled with today’s New York Times Mini Crossword clue. “Starts a ****, in poker.” What does that even mean? ‘Starts a ****, in poker’ July 19 NYT Mini Crossword solution and hints Nine across. 2. The “goes tap-tap-tap in a texting app” clue in today’s NYT Mini is a bit of a head-scratcher, and I’ll admit, it took me a while to get. Initially, I tried to think of apps that require you to tap or click continuously—maybe it even had something to do with the surge of crypto-click games. The answer is much more straightforward than that, but you may need some help getting there. View the full article

As one of the main quests, Battle Hardened in Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, you should meet a carpenter at the Mudfish Dock, who thanks you for taking care of the Bandits in the hamlet, but she has one last request from you: of taking down all the Bandits flags in the region to eradicate the bandit’s memory. 5. Over the past few weeks, my review schedule has involved kicking dudes, ********* dudes, war, eldritch busses, and diseased rats. I did not know how utterly burnt out I was on ********* and misery until I held one of **** simulation Bobo Bay’s sentient blob critters in my arms and lavished snacks upon it. When I close my eyes, I can still hear Conscript’s shells falling in the distance. But here and now, there are only Bobos, the races they take part in, and the idyllic bay in which they reside. 7. Many moons ago, I remember having a chat with Brendy about FPS Metro Exodus’s choice to have characters frequently speak over each other in conversation. It’s something I always appreciate in films (Brendy mentioned Fleabag, I brought up Shane Meadows), and although the flow of many of Exodus’ scenes were quite awkward, it was still refreshing to see a game break away from the common, unnatural back-and-forth line delivery. Bioshock and Judas’s Ken Levine has a name for this - “turn-based dialogue.” According to Levine, it’s “one of the biggest problems” in the way games portray conversations. 9. Stretched resolution in VALORANT is popular among players who use similar settings in Counter-Strike. If you’re also interested in trying stretch resolution, here’s what you need to know. You can run the stretched resolution in VALORANT by tweaking your graphic card settings. Sentinels star TenZ claims the stretched resolution makes the agent hitboxes slightly *******, making it easier for you to hit shots. But, in our experience, the advantage isn’t as big as in CS2, where the stretched resolution lowers your field of view and makes the characters look considerably *******. View the full article
  10. Way back on the GameCube, almost twenty years ago, a small ****** helped repair a broken family. More than just a tiny household helper, Chibi-Robo showed up just as the cracks in the family tore it wide open and worked tirelessly to resolve them. Granted, this involved aliens, time-travel, fighting the Spydorz with the chibi-blaster, and a whole load of mini-games, but as weird as it got it was held together by the far-too-relatable underpinning of a family's emotions building up past the breaking point. It's hard to say if Chibi-Robo was ahead of its time or not, but while it did end up with several sequels none were anything like like the original game. 14. Mystical Crates in Once Human are crucial for obtaining rare and valuable items, distinct from other loot crates by their extraordinary contents. Despite being fewer in number compared to hundreds of crates scattered across the game’s six regions, they stand out for their unparalleled loot quality. 15. Collaborations are far from a foreign concept for Square Enix as the ********* company has dipped their toes in almost every market with their own products. For Final Fantasy XIV, collaborations arent as plentiful, but there have been quite a few over the years. The ones that spring to memory are the Butterfingers collaboration for the Chocorpokkur mount (which you can current get through watching streamers on Twitch), and the Pizza emote from GrubHub, which can now be purchased on the FFXIV Store for $7.00. 17. Last week, 1047 Games dropped a cryptic teaser that had many suspecting a new Splitgate project was in the works. Today, that has been officially confirmed, with Splitgate 2 unveiled in a dynamic announcement trailer. Most of the praise surrounding the original Splitgate came around its ability to innovate the arena shooter genre while sticking to what people loved about FPS titles to begin with—quality gunplay. That seems to be sticking around in the surprise sequel, as is the focal point of play; the fast-paced teleporting gameplay. View the full article
  18. Today’s NYT mini crossword puzzle was baffling, with the major clue that has many players stumped—and probably why you’re here—to do with a “Blue Ribbon brewery.” This clue is from the July 19 NYT mini crossword puzzle, and despite my initial thoughts, it doesn’t actually refer to the Blue Ribbon ice cream brand. Even if you’re familiar with beers, this one is hard to solve. Here’s all the clues you’ll need. View the full article
