  1. The Witcher 4 will feature the return of Geralt, but according to the character’s voice actor, he won’t be the star. Speaking as part of an interview, Doug Cockle commented on the fourth game, which is currently in development at Polish studio CD Projekt Red. “The Witcher 4 has been announced. I can’t say anything about it,” Cockle said. Read More... View the full article

  4. Fallout: London has been a big hit with fans, and it sounds like the team that made it wants to stick together to make their own games. It was a long time coming, but the highly anticipated mod Fallout: London finally came out last month, and it's been incredibly well received so far, including by our own Mark who reviewed the DLC-sized mod and gave it four out of five stars. Of course, despite still having to deal with various bugs, and promising more content further down the line, the Fallout: London team has plans beyond its massive mod. The mod's project lead Dean Carter recently spoke with the BBC about the aftermath of the project, discussing the team's feelings on having released it, and what's next for them (thanks, PCGamesN). Quite notably, Carter shared that they will "hopefully" go on to make their own indie studio so they can pay the bills. Carter explained that "as much as I love the fact that this is a free project - that we can offer this thing for free for all the community - free doesn't pay our bills." He went on to say, "What has been great for us is that a lot of people who have really enjoyed [Fallout: London] have donated to us, and we're channelling that into Team Folon, which is what we're going to be moving into. We should hopefully launch our own indie games company which will allow us to come up with our own ideas, create our own games, and work… without having to speak to anyone above us, such as Bethesda, or anything like that. 5. PlayStation appears to be testing user-written reviews on the PS Store, meaning you'll be able to do more than just rate your games with stars. Xbox has allowed its users to leave written reviews for quite a while now, but on PlayStation the only thing you can currently do is give a game a star rating from one to five. Well, as shared by one user on the PlayStation subreddit earlier this week, it appears that the console maker is currently testing written user reviews. The user in question asked the community "when did PlayStation start allowing written reviews? Seems to only be allowed for [a] few games on their store pages for now." They also shared a screenshot of the page that lets you write reviews, with Helldivers 2 being the game in question. It's a simple enough page, just prompting you to put your star rating in and whatever your thoughts about the game are, asking you to tag spoilers and agree to the terms and conditions. Nothing fancy, but it would obviously be a big change for how players can offer their opinions on PlayStation games, currently relegated to writing some lengthy comment on a social media post about a completely different topic in the hopes that someone will respond but knowing no one ever will. 11. Years after the troubled launch and eventual redemption of Cyberpunk 2077, the game is just about finished with its post-launch patch cycle, and developer CD Projekt RED has a sequel, codenamed Project Orion, in the works. But although I'm excited to see where a sequel could take Cyberpunk as a franchise, I'm also worried that the eventual release of Project Orion might end up overreaching, expanding the game in ways that don't play to what I felt were the strong points of the original. 16. Simulation games like PowerWash Simulator and House Flipper have come a long way in recent decades, and now many simulators mimic real jobs, but without the physical effort that would be required to perform them in real life. While simulators have had a place in gaming for a long time, starting with titles such as The Sims and SimCity, there's now a huge variety of options available for simulators, meaning there's something for every playstyle. As a bonus, many simulators are rather relaxing, making them a perfect way to unwind after a long day. View the full article
  17. The Vision Pro got its first Virtual Boy emulator in an app called VirtualFriend, finally giving me, a person with an irrational love for Nintendo’s most short-lived console, a chance to play it in immersive 3D once more. The app is also available for iOS and iPadOS, where it’s a virtually identical experience, ****** the 3D effect. The first games I played after downloading VirtualFriend were those I owned as a ****: Red Alarm, Wario Land, and Mario’s Tennis. I’m pleased to say that apart from some minor audio glitches in Red Alarm, the games run well — it’s all just as I remember it. The infernal engine that's replaced her heart can be an obstacle to a close relationship, but helping her overcome that challenge is one of the most rewarding accomplishments in the game. 21. A massive ********** shook the Fortnite island today, Aug. 10, leaving Redline Rig in shambles and revealing the Pandora’s Box. It’s all because Dr. ***** sabotaged Megalo Don’s plans of fueling his Leviathan ship, putting an end to the Fallout collaboration and paving the way for the second Marvel collaboration season. At the start of Fortnite’s Chapter Five, season three, Megalo Don’s Leviathan crashed to the south of the island, bringing the Wasteland theme into the season. The Nitro-addicted antagonist’s intentions were clear: fuel up the ship with the help of Redline Rig and tear through the island to take the sail back to the waves. Throughout the season, pipelines were being constructed from the Redline Rig point of interest to Brutal Beachhead to fuel the ship leading to the live season event. View the full article
