The studio behind the console versions of Minecraft has announced a new open-world multiplayer survival sandbox game called Reforj. Dundee, Scotland-based 4J Studios is developing the game for PC and current-generation console hardware on a proprietary voxel sandbox engine which it hopes will transform the genre. In an interview with [Hidden Content], 4J founder and chairman Chris van der Kuyl said the studio intends to build the game “with the community”. Microsoft has announced the Xbox Game Pass September 2024 Wave 2 lineup, taking subscribers up to the end of this month. Just three games are listed as coming during September’s second wave in Microsoft’s Xbox Wire post, two of which are PC-only strategy games that launch day one on Game Pass, the other a turn-based strategy game released last year. Wargroove 2 (Cloud, Console, and PC) hits Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on September 19; PC strategy game Frostpunk 2 releases as a day one title straight into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on September 20; and Ara: History Untold on PC launches straight into Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on September 24. Wargroove 2 is Chucklefish’s Advance Wars-style strategy sequel released in 2023. IGN’s Wargroove 2 review returned an 8/10. It replaces Game Pass for Console (though those already subscribed don't have to upgrade) and includes significantly fewer benefits. PUBG, Call of Duty Warzone, Warface - many challengers have risen, but none have surpassed Fortnite. Between collaborations, skins, seasons, chapters, and innumerate updates and changes, for the last seven years, Epic's landmark shooter has remained perhaps the biggest videogame - barring maybe Minecraft - in the entire world. Despite all of that success, however, one thing has always been missing. Seemingly a small little tweak, that in other shooters you might take for granted, it could also upturn the entire meta. I started playing and enjoying battle royale wizarding sim Spellbreak just in time for Spellbreak to get shut down. Developers Proletariat, Inc announced plans to yank the servers back in August 2022 in the course of being acquired by Activision Blizzard, bringing an end to many happy hours spent skating on conjured ice ramps and hurling boulders around like bunny rabbits. Yes, I am the kind of wizard who hurls a bunny rabbit, if there are no boulders to spare. Happily, it transpires that Proletariat have resurrected their creation and handed it over to posterity in the shape of a free standalone Community Version, [Hidden Content]. As the fastest-selling game in the history of Blizzard Entertainment, Diablo 4 couldn’t have enjoyed a better start. The series has always been more about long-term play, however – Diablo 3 still enjoys a healthy active player count 12 years after its release, after all. NBA 2K25’s MyCAREER mode gives you complete freedom to choose which team you play for. But if you’re unhappy with your initial choice and wish to request a trade, your options are much more limited. NBA 2K25 throws out the Draft concept altogether and allows you to pick a team for your MyPLAYER to join during character creation. This is a somewhat conflicting approach as the Draft was a pretty big deal in previous iterations of the game, but the main argument for the new system is that you can set yourself up in the perfect environment to succeed. I don't mean to alarm you, but some Final Fantasy 16 players on PS5 have recently found their nice little playthroughs invaded by large ****** blobs or boxes that threaten to ruin poor Clive's day. No, this isn't some DLC, it looks to be part of some graphical issues that've followed a recent update to the console's firmware, which Sony and Square Enix have said they're looking into. Taking a glance at Reddit or Twitter, you'll find a number of posts with players showing off or talking about problems they've run into. My personal favorite is the clip I've embedded below of someone having to outrun a void that's seemingly decided to chase them around a bit and momentarily ******** Mr Rosfield whole. "The PS5 system update yesterday is causing major graphical bugs in FFXVI during some cutscenes and portions of game play," one player wrote of this particular issue in a tweet, "Bug progresses to blacking out the screen, temporarily receded by opening the active time lore menu." Baldur's Gate 3 is oozing with characters and scenarios that are almost begging to star in a crossover, but Larian Studio's latest suggestion may not be what fans expect. The massive Dungeons & Dragons RPG took the world by storm in 2023 but one year before it, another indie game that also predominately featured eldritch monsters similarly captivated the hearts of players looking for something unique.
