Donald Glover, the actor behind young Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story, is hoping he can put some "fun" back into the sci-fi series. With the way that people talk about Star Wars, it's easy to forget that the original is just kind of this silly trio of films with big explosions, nonsensical plot twists, and tiny green puppet men giving surprisingly sage advice. There's plenty of room in its universe for some serious moments too, but it seems like a baseline feeling of fun is more reserved for the games these days, with shows like The Mandalorian and The Acolyte leaning more towards the dramatic most of the time. And it seems like actor Donal Glover, also known for his music under his Childish Gambino pseudonym, is hoping his upcoming Lando film will be able to make Star Wars feel fun again. Noah Hawley made an appearance at the Emmys over the weekend where he teased just how scary his Alien: Earth series is going to be. On Earth, everybody can hear you scream, which is something Hawley clearly thinks you'll be doing a lot of whenever Alien: Earth drops next year. The Fargo series and Legion creator spoke with Deadline at the Emmys, where he didn't share any concrete details about the upcoming horror show, but did set some general expectations for it. "There’s something about seeing a Xenomorph in the wilds of Earth with your own eyes," Hawley said. "That is truly chilling to think of it moving here among us, and so I can’t tell you under what circumstances you’ll see that, but you’ll see it - and you’re going to lock your door that night." That immediately raises questions as to who doesn't make sure their door is locked every night but I get it, Hawley wants you to know that you'll be the kind of scared where you run upstairs after turning all the lights off when you're heading to bed. Hawley spoke a bit about working with the iconic xenomorph too, saying, "What was really fun for me was to really engage with the creature, bring some of my own thoughts to the design while not touching the silhouette, because that’s sacrosanct. Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has released the long-awaited update 01.001.100, which tweaks the game balance, weapons, and stratagems as part of a significant overhaul that aims to bring lapsed fans back into the game by making it easier. The PC and PlayStation 5 co-op shooter has changed anti-tank, armor ************, health, and armor values, rebalanced weapons and stratagems, reworked enemies, tweaked Helldiver health and damage mechanics, reworked gas, added a new Galactic War feature and emote wheel feature, and fixed a long list of bugs. The Galactic War map can now display the location of strategically important assets. Arrowhead said this will make it much easier for players to take them into consideration when deciding their next move. The new emote wheel feature lets players equip up to four emotes in the armory and access them using the new emote wheel feature by holding the emote button. Patch 01.001.100 arrives two days before the next Premium Warbond, dubbed Chemical Agents, launches on September 19. While Chemical Agents does not include any new weapons, it adds two stratagem variants — the TX-41 Sterilizer, which lets you spray a gas at the Terminids and Automatons, and the Guard Dog's ‘Dog Breath,’ which is a corrosive gas sprayer — and, in keeping with the alien exterminator theme, the G-4 Gas grenade, which covers the whole area in a cloud of noxious fumes. “Thank you for your valuable feedback,” Arrowhead said in the patch notes, below. “Many players have expressed feeling constrained in how they approach challenges, often relying on a limited set of tools while other options seem less effective. This has impacted your ability to play the game in a way that suits your preferences. “So, what’s changing? For all the bugdivers out there, many situations were previously either resolved with your primary ******* or anti-tank weapons, which haven’t always performed as expected. This should offer more variety and flavor during your play sessions. “We are adjusting damage mechanics to make the damage Helldivers receive more consistent over time by reducing 100% extra headshot damage to 50%. To maintain the overall challenge of the game, we've slightly increased the damage taken to other parts of the body. Our intent is to preserve the intensity of the gameplay while minimizing frustrating situations where sudden headshots cause large damage spikes. “With these changes, along with an upgraded Helldiver arsenal, ****** adjustments, and more consistent damage, the overall difficulty may slightly decrease. Final Fantasy 16 is finally almost here on PC and developer Square Enix has shared exactly when players can start playing the role-playing game. Square Enix confirmed the launch times for each region in an X/Twitter post, below, across its September 17 release date. Both previously released expansions for Final Fantasy 16, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide, will be released simultaneously but cost extra. The RPG has plenty of content on its own, however, as players are thrust into a world where powerful elemental monsters (dare we say summons) live within select vessels known as Dominants, and players, as protagonist Clive Rosfield, must join forces with or take down each and every one. The original reveal trailer claimed blatantly the game is "also available on PC," and while Square Enix mysteriously scrapped this claim soon after, its status as a PlayStation 5 exclusive was brought into question again in November 2022 when an advertisement for the PS5's DualSense controller said Final Fantasy 16 would only be a "PS5 exclusive for six months." Yoshida himself then denied a PC version existed at all. "Nobody said a word about a PC version releasing," he said, incorrectly. "Why is it like a PC version is releasing six months later? Don't worry about that, buy a PS5. Sorry, I went overboard. We did our best, so please look forward to it." Yoshida then admitted in February 2023 it's true that "Final Fantasy 16 is a six-month limited time exclusive on the PS5" but "the PC version will not come out in half a year." This is because the team wouldn't be able to start development until the PS5 version launched in June that year. Finally, however, the role-playing game was announced for PC in August 2024, with the aforementioned September 17 release date. This came after Final Fantasy 16 ******* to meet the expectations of Square Enix alongside other PlayStation exclusives including Foamstars and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, prompting a shift to an aggressive multiplatform strategy going forward. Yoshida made clear in August that Square Enix would be doubling down on Xbox releases following this change in strategy, while Final Fantasy 16 director Hiroshi Takai said future games in the franchise would likely come to PC on launch. In our 9/10 review of the PS5 version, IGN said: "Final Fantasy 16 is certainly a departure from what fans may expect out of a Final Fantasy game, but its excellent story, characters, and world building are right up there with the best the series has to offer."
