  3. ********* game sales remained strong in the first half of 2024 despite fewer AAA video games being released compared to last year. That’s according to GSD data published by [Hidden Content], which suggests that just under 80 million PC and console games were sold across Europe for the first six months of 2024. That represents a drop of 1.6% in terms of unit sales, which is a strong performance considering the first half of 2023 saw the release of major titles such as Hogwarts Legacy, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Diablo IV and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. 4. Most people who watched Bethesda and Prime Video's Fallout series agree it was pretty great, and we can't wait for season 2, but what about its chances at nabbing a bunch of awards in the meantime? Well it's also off to a great start in that regard, with a whopping16 Emmy nominations. Chief among them are the Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series (Walton Goggins) noms, but it's received so much more recognition, instantly making it a quick follow-up to HBO's The Last of Us also finding awards gold. Video game adaptations are here to stay. We've yet to learn about the ********* schedule for season 2 and new cast additions, but the showrunners have confirmed in the past they're moving on it as fast as they can, and the overall process should be smoother and quicker, as much of the initial heavy lifting and prep work for the show as a whole was already done in season 1. Mr. House and New Vegas are expected to have large roles in the second chapter of the story, so Fallout lore fanatics are understandably brimming with excitement. Read more View the full article

  6. ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League developer Rocksteady has fully revealed Season 2 supervillain Mrs. Freeze. In a blog post, Rocksteady promised a "fast paced, dynamic, and totally unique traversal kit" for Mrs. Freeze thanks to her ability to create a path of ice to ride anywhere. Think Frozone from The Incredibles. Mrs. Freeze also comes equipped with an arsenal of weapons to deal damage, including heavy weapons for close range and ******** rifles and pistols for taking down enemies from a distance. Her "tanky style of gameplay" is exemplified by her Frozen Axe, which "can deliver powerful, meaty swings" and focuses on Shield Harvesting. Like the rest of the ******** Squad, Mrs. Freeze comes with three playstyles: Cooler, Physicist, and Technician. Cooler enables cryotech to turn Mrs. Freeze into "an unstoppable tank with incredible crowd-controlling," with players able to use the Snowball Effect to instantly freezes enemies or Exothermic Transfer to regenerate shields. The Physicist playstyle focuses on close combat as it buffs melee, Shield Harvest, and ******** Strikes, while the Technician boosts run and **** abilities. Players can unlock Mrs. Freeze by completing a series of Incursions, and once they've been completed and players have reached Episode Rank 25, a new boss ****** will open where she can be recruited. "Victoria Frias is an ice-cold, self-sufficient survivalist who has watched her Elseworld turn to ice as Brainiac’s invasion took hold," reads her description. "By the time we meet her in Season 2, she has spent years as the last holdout of her dying planet, unwilling to leave her cryogenically frozen wife behind. But after being recruited by the Squad, she may have the chance to save her — and unleash icy *****." Players will be able to explore this frozen Elseworld in Season 2 and discover new weapons designed to melt its icy enemies. It all arrives July 25, 2024. The up-to-four player action game has struggled since its arrival in January 2024 and "generated significantly lower revenues” for publisher Warner Bros. Discovery compared to the year before. Last month, Warner Bros. told IGN that ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League will see out its first year of support, but declined to comment on what happens afterwards. In our 5/10 review, IGN said: "******** Squad: ***** the Justice League is a repetitive and bland looter-shooter that, despite an engaging story, never stays fun for long enough." Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]
  7. Bioware has confirmed that it did indeed do a bit of a distracted boyfriend meme when it came to the idea of adding multiplayer elements to the game that's now known as Dragon Age: The Veilguard, but recovered after deciding it wanted to stick to its established strengths. This comes via an interview about the game from Game Informer, which takes on the tough task of following up the news that Bioware won't tell anyone whether the game features any virtual genitalia, something we're all still dying to know. Bioware general manager Gary McKay confirmed that, during the pre-prduction stage, the game's developers did experiment with a lot off different stuff. "At one point, it was multiplayer – we did a hard look at multiplayer, he revealed, "but we felt we really couldn't return to our roots." Read more View the full article
  8. All three protagonist performances in Fallout’s TV show were phenomenal, but it seems like Walton Goggins’ Ghoul amassed the largest following and praise after release. Now, the actor has earned an Emmy nomination. Fallout’s Amazon series was released in April and immediately gained the love of the franchise’s fans and newcomers. Critics seemed to love it too, with the Fallout TV show nominated for 17 Emmys, including a nomination for Goggins in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category. View the full article
  9. “Rooney of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” is a very media-based clue in the July 18 NYT Mini Crossword, and if you don’t know the film, you’re going to get burned. The NYT Mini Crossword word game is hoping you’ve seen the film adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo because if you have, it makes the “Rooney” clue much easier in this puzzle. 10. Here is an incomplete list of people, creatures or things that susceptible Terrans have glimpsed in the surface of the Moon: an old man, a rabbit, a crow, a moose, a toad, and King Mohamed V of Morocco. The technical term for this is "lunar pareidolia", which would have been a good alternative title for To The Stars, a spooky and spry "planet-hopping" strategy game in which the planets pout and grimace at you constantly, like a nestful of horrible baby sparrows. 11. Resident Evil 7, Capcom’s beloved horror game that reinvigorated the Resident Evil series, has sold less than 2,000 copies on iOS. Last year, Apple ceremoniously announced that it was entering the AAA gaming market by bringing some well-known games to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. One of the first games it released was Resident Evil 7. First released in 2017, Capcom’s beloved horror series was meant to show just how capable the iPhone 15 Pro was. Even though it was a very successful port from the hardware perspective, Resident Evil 7 ******* miserably on iOS. View the full article
  12. The First Descendant is all about the grind and getting those rare drops, but it feels like some gameplay loops are designed to make you suffer. One of the most common grinds in The First Descendant involves void missions, and in a Reddit thread on July 17, players agreed it’s the most annoying aspect of the game. “The entire ‘gameplay’ loop of outposts, farming void shards, and the void bosses is such a terrible loop. It’s horrible how many amorphous materials are wrapped up in this loop,” one player wrote in the thread’s comments. View the full article

  14. It looks to have taken a lot longer than we all might have initially expected, but there's finally a Starfield mod that adds Star Wars' Mos Eisley Cantina to the game as a fully-fledged location you can hang out in between those new-ish bounty missions. While modders had to spend a lot of time waiting for the game's creation kit to drop, which it finally did last month, there've already been a tonne of works put out to help folks turn the game into a Star Wars one, something that was guaranteed to be a ******* pretty much the moment it was announced. While all of the ship replicas and lightsabers have been nice, hopefully the mod I'm about to tell you about can be the start of things really being taken to the next level in terms of galaxy, far, far away roleplay, even if Star Wars Outlaws is due out soon. As far as I can tell, Kaffeinaa's 'Mos Eisleys Cantina (Akila)' (it's also available for Xbox here) is the first proper go a modder's had at re-creating the place where Greedo definitely shoots at Han Solo first in the game. Well, depending on if you count the cantina band's tunes being added to the jukebox of The Rock's bar, so the Freestar Rangers can enjoy them. Read more View the full article

  16. Sorry if you wanted a new visual style for the next two Avengers movies, because we're returning to what once worked extremely well with the Russo Brothers. Honestly, after about three rough years for Marvel Studios and Disney, who can blame them? The Hollywood Reporter shared this news, firmly saying that early talks are ongoing, but the deal seems pretty much locked in. For the filmmakers, who departed the House of M after two fantastic Captain America sequels and two era-defining Avengers entries that became two of the highest-grossing movies of all time, this is also a positive development, as their post-Endgame directing work (Cherry and The Gray Man) has been nothing but a big disappointment. "The hiring ends a months-long, high-stakes search by the studio for filmmakers to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies," THR adds. That much is true, as we've been hearing plenty of wild rumors and reports ever since Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton departed Avengers 5, once titled The Kang Dynasty, before Jonathan Majors turned out to be a real-life villain. As for Secret Wars, a director was never announced. Read more View the full article For verified travel tips and real support, visit: [Hidden Content]

  21. Not only did bandits take over the Three Peaks, but they’re crawling all over Wanderer’s Rest. Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn tasks you with destroying all of the bandits’ banners, and if you know where to find these flags, it’s worth the effort. As with the Three Peaks flags, there are 15 bandit banners for players to find in Wanderer’s Rest.
