  2. Between PlayStation's Days of Play ***** and a new State of Play coming up, it's an exciting time to be a PS5 owner. If you've been keeping up with the former and checking out all of the game deals available, we've got a few more that are worth adding to your pile. Resident Evil 2 remake, Resident Evil 3 remake, and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Gold Edition on PS5 are all on ***** for under $20 each right now at Amazon. That's quite a steal for these three games, especially considering the grand total to buy all of them ($57.47) is still less than the full price of Resident Evil Requiem. I think Resident Evil 2 is a must-buy for a video game library, as it's a truly astonishing remake. I'm not the only one who thinks so, either. Our review from IGN's Daemon Hatfield said it "expertly reanimates the horrifying atmosphere and moments of extreme tension that made the original so revered." Plus, it's ***** price is incredibly close to its lowest price ever at Amazon of $14.99, according to price tracker camelcamelcamel. That certainly still makes it worthy of picking up. Similarly, Resident Evil 3 is also not terribly far away from its lowest price at Amazon of $14.90, and it's another one worth picking up for your library. It earned a glowing 9/10 score from Lucy O'Brien in IGN's review, in which she hailed it "Another stellar remake of a classic survival horror from Capcom." And if you're really looking to have a spooky good time this summer, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard can deliver. As someone who recently replayed it, I still loved wandering around every creepy corner of the Baker house, especially in first-person. Plus, the gold edition gets you the DLC alongside the base game, which is a nice little cherry on top. And similar to the other games, its lowest price at Amazon was $14.99, but this deal price is still mighty close. It's an excellent time to pick it up if it's been on your radar. While it's not a deal at Amazon, it's also worth noting that the digital copy of Resident Evil Requiem is on ***** at PlayStation right now as part of Days of Play. For the remainder of the *****, you can pick it up for $55.99 rather than its full price of $69.99. It may not be the biggest price cut, but it's certainly still a nice discount to take advantage of while it's still available. 6. With the launch of Season 2 in Marathon, Bungie is giving players more details on what they can expect to find as well as the first of two PvE-style game modes. After a hot start at launch, Marathon has seemingly cooled off a bit, with reports indicating that Bungie's extraction shooter has fallen short of expectations. In an effort to kickstart things, Season 2 is introducing some potentially game-changing elements. View the full article

  8. A brand new open-world simulation was released on May 27, and within a week, that game (Starminer) had amassed over 1000 Mostly Positive reviews on Steam in that time. Given how hard it is for a game to be discovered, especially a non-AAA title, that'd be impressive for any open-world game on Steam, but Starminer doesn't even have much external backing either. 9. Xbox Game Pass has added Final Fantasy 6 and Jurassic World Evolution 3 to its ever-rotating content library. 10. Subnautica, if you ask me, is a game about being incredibly wet and alarmingly hungry. It's an under-the-sea game (you can tell from the name) about hoovering up resources and using them to construct ever-more complex tools that you transcend the barriers placed before you by nature. That's what Subnautica was, and, though I've not played it yet, that's why I'm pretty sure Subnautica 2 is too... Read more.View the full article

  12. Bethesda Game Studios has published patch notes for its Fallout 76 Infestations update, revealing plans to launch its "next-gen update" for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S this summer. The studio shared full details for its post-apocalyptic online RPG on its website today. Tucked in with the usual breakdown for all of the new content and all of the old content getting fixed is confirmation that PlayStation and Xbox players will soon be able to take advantage of a full-on next-gen update. Unfortunately, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S versions of Fallout 76 don't have a firm release date yet, but Bethesda doesn't leave players with a simple tease. Testing for the (very) long-awaited next-gen updates is confirmed to take place sometime in June, with the full launch set to follow "later this summer." "Available to everyone who owns Fallout 76," Bethesda explained, "you will be able to download the Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 test versions from the Xbox and PlayStation Stores. Once testing is completed, we plan on releasing the update later this summer!" Fallout 76 first launched for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2018, but instead of following that up with a full-fledged next-gen update with the release of the PS5 and Xbox Series X | S in late 2020, Bethesda chose to focus on supporting its existing platforms. It's a decision that's left PS5 and Xbox Series X | S players hoping for any news as we now approach the sixth anniversary of the initial launch of Sony and Microsoft's latest home consoles. Some online have already commented that the "next-gen update" teased in the patch notes isn't so "next-gen" anymore, but Bethesda's still propping the update up as something worth waiting for. You can see the full list of features expected to be included with the Fallout 76 next-gen update below. Fallout 76 Next-Gen Update FeaturesTargeted 60 FPS across Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS5 Pro.Improved draw distances.Improved shadows.4K resolution (on compatible displays) on Xbox Series X, Xbox One X, PS5 Pro.VRR (on compatible displays) on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, PS5 Pro.PS5 and PS4 Pro will support 1440p while previous generation platforms will continue to support 1080p. The rest of the Fallout 76 patch notes detail how players will be able to clear out Infestations across Appalachia to earn unique rewards. With the update comes the launch of Season 25, which also includes the Deathclaw C.A.M.P. ****. Seasonal fish, which can be used in new seasonal recipes, will also join the fray come June 23. IGN gave Fallout 76 a 7/10 review in 2024 after it originally landed with a 5/10 in 2018. Fallout TV show-themed content that arrived earlier this year had players debating whether a piece of in-game armor was worth its $30 price tag. Finally, you can read the full patch notes for today's Fallout 76 Infestations update below. Fallout 76 Infestations Update Patch NotesFallout 76: Infestations Release Notes This is a call to action. Infestation Overview Infestations are a new form of content that serves as an additional source of 4-Star Legendary items for those brave enough to hunt down and clear out these challenging pockets of enemies. Meant for experienced Appalachian Dwellers, Infestations must be discovered as you’re exploring the world. Looking at your Paper Map will show the general area that one can be found, but it will be up to you to find its exact location. If you want to hunt for Infestations, we recommend you create or join an Exploration Public Team because on an active server full of hunters, you might find them difficult to find. Being on a team will increase your chances by giving you the opportunity to Fast Travel directly to a teammate who has found one. Locations Infestations can appear across the Toxic Valley, Forest, Ash Heap, Savage Divide, Mire, and Cranberry Bog regions. Multiple Infestations can be active across Appalachia at any given time, but if nobody comes to clear them out, the faction infesting the area will leave and head off to another area. Enemies When an infestation takes over a location, the enemies that usually ruled that area are pushed out and overtaken by a new faction. At launch, the Blood Eagles, Cultists, Communists, Mole Miners, Scorched, Super Mutants, and Robots all have the chance of being the new ruling faction in the area. These new enemies will hit harder and be tougher to take down. There will also be accompanied by an elite-level boss. Each Infestation boss will have their own unique weapon and be afflicted by a random Mutation to alter the fight even further. If you’re heading out to find an Infestation, make sure you’re well geared and ready for a fight. More factions may also find their way into infesting Appalachia in the future. Rewards When clearing an Infestation, you should expect to get standard loot and a chance of a 3-Star Legendary weapon or armor from the lower-tier faction enemies. Defeating the boss leading the infestation is where the ******* rewards come into play. Beating the Infestation boss will earn you a guaranteed 4-Star Legendary weapon or armor piece. This update also introduces new 4-Star mods that can only be obtained through clearing Infestations. Here’s a sneak peek at two of the exclusive Infestation 4-Star Mods: Vector (Armor Mod): Increase accuracy in V.A.T.S. from a very long distance by 10% (up to 50%)Tarnished (Weapon Mod): The lower the equipped item condition, the greater the weapon damage (up to 120%).Infestation Frenzy To celebrate the launch of today’s update, Infestations will appear at a faster than standard rate for the first two weeks. After which, the rate at which Infestations appear will be returned to their intended values. Don’t get swept up in the frenzy! Season 25 – Appalachia Under Siege A new season is upon us! Complete challenges and earn rewards as you create your dream post-nuclear homestead in Season 25: Appalachia Under Siege! Deathclaw C.A.M.P. **** Prepare to welcome a new friend into your C.A.M.P. Our next C.A.M.P. **** will be a Deathclaw. One of the most dangerous and scariest creatures in Wasteland will now be able to make a home in your C.A.M.P. The Deathclaw C.A.M.P. **** is obtainable through the purchase of the Deathclaw **** Upgrade Bundle or the Deathclaw **** Deluxe Edition on the Xbox, PlayStation and Steam stores. The bundle also includes 2 idle furniture’s and 2 **** cosmetics for your Deathclaw as well as a C.A.M.P. sign. New Seasonal Fish – Available June 23 If you need a break from clearing out Infestations, you can try your luck at catching some of our new seasonal fish. Available on the first Tuesday after the summer solstice, these new fish will be joined by their Fall, Winter, and Spring siblings as the year goes on. This fishing update will also come with new challenges and rewards for you to obtain. These new fish can’t be turned into Fish Bits like the other Appalachian fish because you’ll be using them to craft new seasonal food recipes. We’re not going to cover what the recipes are, what advantages they provide, or the locations for these new fish here. Our hope is that you’ll be able to discover all that on your own. If you do want a little hint on where to start looking, head over to Fisherman’s Rest and find a note from Captain Raymond. All your armor, Power Armor, armor mods, Power Armor mods, Legendary Mods, and consumables (many of which have been buffed) will provide more protection against the irradiated elements. This improvement also affects enemy resistance to incoming radiation damage too. It also paves the way for us to explore reducing radiation immunity on many enemy types and explore more ways for players to deal radiation damage in future updates. Reaching 1500-2500 Radiation resistance will dramatically reduce the incoming radiation damage from heavier environmental radiation such as Nuke Zones. This is not a hard threshold, so you can pack on as much Radiation resistance as you can muster, and it'll continue to reduce the effect of environmental radiation. Items with Radiation ResistanceNuka-Orange: Radiation Exposure Resistance +25 -> +50.RadShield: Radiation Exposure Resistance +300 -> +600.RadShield can no-longer be repeatedly consumed to stack the effect.Glowing Blood Pack can no-longer be repeatedly consumed to stack the effect.Irradiated Blood Pack can no-longer be repeatedly consumed to stack the effect.Rad-X: Radiation Exposure Resistance +600 -> +300.Dev Note: This will still be stronger than its previous effect due to the aforementioned Radiation Exposure Resistance change.Rad-X: Diluted: Radiation Exposure Resistance +250 -> +125.Dev Note: This will still be stronger than its previous effect due to the aforementioned Radiation Exposure Resistance change.Soot Flower Herb Paste Radiation Exposure Resistance 20 -> 25.Glowing ******* Soup: Radiation Exposure Resistance 20 -> 25.Steeped Strangler Pod Tea: Radiation Exposure Resistance 20 -> 25.Steeped Strangler Bloom Tea: Radiation Exposure Resistance 20 -> 25.Mirelurk Cake With Bloodleaf Aioli: Radiation Exposure Resistance +25 -> +50.Bloatfly Loaf: Radiation Exposure Resistance +25 -> +50.Tesla Science 6: +15 -> +100.Player GhoulPlayer Ghouls now convert 35% (up from 15%) of post-resist Radiation Exposure damage to health (before converting to Glow when at full health).Unified how Player Ghouls gain Glow from sources of Radiation damage. 35% of post-resist Radiation damage is converted to Glow when at full health.Rad Specialist Perk: +5/10/15% more environmental Glow -> +10/20/30% more environmental GlowPlayer Ghouls now have -50 Radiation resist by default (similar behavior to the Breathe It In Perk)Dev Note: This gives Player Ghouls a higher threshold before they need to be concerned about radiation resistance on armor preventing them from healing/gaining glow from radiation.Fixed cases where the Glowing One and Rad Reaver Perks weren't providing as much Glow as intended.Fixed a case where the Glowing legendary weapon mod provided less Glow than intended.Doubled the radius of the Glowing One Perk.Reduced the Glow granted by the Glowing One Perk from 6/12 -> 4/8Dev Note: The increased radius listed above should make the effect much more available and result in much more overall Healing/Glow income, so we've reduced the magnitude a bit to reduce the risk of this effect being too powerful.Addressed an issue where Glowing Blood Packs added Radiation Resist to Player Ghouls.Adjusted Irradiated Blood Packs to no-longer apply Radiation Resist to Player Ghouls.Irradiated Blood Packs are now affected by the Bloodsucker perk (regular Blood Packs and Glowing Blood Packs were already affected).Weapons with Radiation DamageAdjusted the Gamma Gun to deal Radiation and Energy damage.Environmental RadiationIncreased the magnitude of these effects (4 -> 5): Water in parts of Atlantic City, Radstorms, etc.Increased the magnitude of these effects (7 -> 10): Most areas with irradiated water, Dyer Chemical, Power Plants, The Pitt, Scorched Statues, various Radiation Barrels, ambient radiation in Eviction Notice, etc.Increased the magnitude of these effects (11 -> 20): Car Explosion, Pitcher Plant, various Toxic Vents/etc.Increased the magnitude of these effects (21 -> 35): Vault 94 G.E.C.K. Changed the effect slightly to avoid excessive radiation damage if the effect occurs too frequently.Increased the radiation damage dealt by most glowing enemies.Non-PA Radiation ResistancesReduced the radiation resist on most non-PA armor (by 45-65%)Note: With the changes to radiation in this update, each individual point of Rad Resist is much stronger than before. This left the radiation damage mitigation power of non-PA armor in a very strong state, even more so when used in combination with the increased usefulness of armor mods and items. This change still leaves non-PA armor radiation damage resistance at a higher level than it was before The Backwoods update while bringing it inline with our intended goals.Miscellaneous ChangesAddressed some inconsistencies with the HUD radiation indicator that may have caused it to display incorrect values from time to time.Additional NotesActivities and Public EventsBrahmin should now ignore Cattle Rustlers during Free Range but defend themselves against other enemies.Campfire Tales: Area to reveal quest markers has been increased during "Gather items left by the missing camper" objective.Horde Activities will no longer trigger in game (originally intended to release with the Backwoods Update)Public Event flyouts will now properly be shown as quests on the map when you've joined them.Updated the map help menu entry for Activity and Public Event icons.Updated text flyout upon entering an event or activity.Expanded the radius of the Project Beanstalk activity so that all fast-traveling and respawning players will always remain active in the event.Armor (and Clothing)Fixed an issue with the Grim Reaper Masks so the mask appears correctly with other outfits.Sturdy Metal Left Leg can now be scrapped to learn armor mods.C.A.M.P., Workshop, and SheltersFixed an issue where repair bot could continue their repairs after being scrapped.Fixed an issue which could cause player turrets to become invisible in rare cases.Fixed the C.A.M.P. 13. I succumb to hype all the time when it comes to gaming industry showcases, but the June 2026 State of Play really feels like it could be a monumental one. There have been some pretty substantial State of Play presentations over the years. The one from February earlier this year was pretty good, but if we’re comparing it to others that have taken place in June (to essentially replace E3 showcases) then this one is shaping up to be a whopper. It's State of Play day! Watch today at 2:00pm PT / 5:00pm ET / 11:00pm CEST. The show features an extended look at Marvel's Wolverine gameplay. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] — PlayStation (@PlayStation) June 2, 2026 [Hidden Content] With Sony renting out movie theaters for the show, and confirmation that it’s going to be clocking in at over an hour long, there’s a lot of room for some big news. With the PS5 nearing the end of its life cycle, it’s time to hear from a lot of developers and studios to see what’s next from them. Table of contentsMarvel’s WolverineMore 2026 titlesIntergalactic: The Heretic ProphetFinal Fantasy VIII Remake finaleFairgame$, or it’s deadNew God of WarMarvel TOKON Fighting SoulsGTA 6Resident EvilAstro Bot sequelHalo: Campaign EvolvedMarvel’s Spider-Man 3Destiny 3The Last of Us: Part IIIHorizon 3Something new entirelyBloodborne Marvel’s Wolverine Image via Insomniac Games We know this is happening, and it’s expected to kick off the show. I want to see gameplay, and I want to see X-Men. Show us who’s going to be in the game, and maybe even tease how it’s connected to Insomniac’s Spider-Man games ahead of its launch in September. More 2026 titles This showcase would be great for many publishers to show off what we know is coming in the next few months. Titles like Assassin’s Creed ****** Flag: Resynced, Beast of Reincarnation, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, Phantom Blade Zero, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and more all have concrete release dates but need more footage and hype. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Image via Sony It’s high time to see more from Naughty Dog’s next game. It’s been a year and a half since its debut trailer at The Game Awards 2024, so an update is needed. Final Fantasy VIII Remake finale Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Yuffie, and the rest of the gang have one final chapter to tell in the finale of the awesome FF7 Remake trilogy. A trailer and release date seem very possible. Fairgame$, or it’s dead The long-dormant heist shooter Fairgame$ has been missing in action for several years since its debut. If this showcase doesn’t include in an update, it may be dead in the water. New God of War Image via PlayStation Rumors flying about a new God of War title featuring Kratos’s wife Faye and the Norse god of war Týr point to a potential reveal today. Santa Monica Studio has been quiet for some time, so this may be the day. Marvel TOKON Fighting Souls One of PS5’s big console-exclusives left in 2026, there are still several characters yet to be revealed. This one’s a safe bet to show off who will be joining the remaining two teams of four in the 2D fighter. GTA 6 Image via Rockstar Games This is very unlikely, but a GTA 6 appearance would rock the internet and business world alike. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said marketing for the Nov. 19 launch will begin this summer, but a trailer or even just a confirmation that pre-orders are now available would take over the entire narrative of the industry. Resident Evil Resident Evil Requiem has some DLC confirmed to be on the way, so this showcase would be a good one to reveal its contents and release date. But with rumors of more remakes on the way, such as Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0, this could be the show to reveal more even further in the pipeline. Astro Bot sequel Image via PlayStation After Team Asobi’s massive success with the PlayStation-themed platformer, the franchise is one of Sony’s biggest and most promising. More Astro Bot would be amazing, and confirmation of its development with some sort of teaser would generate a lot of hype. Halo: Campaign Evolved Could you imagine? A Halo game at a PlayStation show? It’s likely not happening, but it would be wild to see, especially given XBOX’s big attempts at brand rehabilitation lately. Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 Image via Insomniac Games The focus is on Wolverine, but the finale of Insomniac’s Spider-Man trilogy is coming eventually. It has to. They set up so much for the third game in the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and they need to come to fruition: Green Goblin, Silk, Chameleon, Carnage, on and on and on. Let us know that it’s coming, however far away it may be, with some official confirmation. Destiny 3 This isn’t happening, but it would be a welcome tease to know that Sony and Bungie aren’t giving up on the franchise entirely, given Destiny 2’s live-service updates coming to an end. It’s not looking good for the series, so this is a real Hail Mary, but the years-long Destiny player in me will always have some hope left…at my own peril. The Last of Us: Part III Another one that’s probably not happening, but would be great to know it’s in the works. If it is, it’s still many, many, many years away, but seeing a simple shot of Ellie or Abby would be enough to hype up the crowds. Horizon 3 Image via PlayStation Although there’s several spin-offs in development, the third Horizon game starring Aloy has likely been in the works at Guerrilla Games for several years. Could we get an announcement today? Something new entirely PlayStation has traditionally flourished with its triple-A singleplayer game and new IP. I would love to see some new stuff, original content, and something that isn’t a sequel, reboot, or spin-off. Show us the goods, Sony. You own a lot of talented dev studios. Let them cook up something new. Bloodborne Image via PlayStation I had to. I lied about giving up hope. I’ll never give up. Give us a native PS5 port, if nothing else, and our money is yours. /wp-content/themes/destructoid2025/assets/img/icons/likes-off.png0 The post Here’s what we want (and need) to see at Sony’s biggest State of Play in years appeared first on Destructoid. 15. Here at Ars, we've taken pleasure in reporting on versions of Doom that run on everything from wireless earbuds and printers to [Hidden Content] and even inside Doom itself. So when we hear that a piece of game-playing hardware from the '90s (or later) can't run Doom, our ears perk up. That hardware is the Neo Geo, an early '90s game console that players of a certain age will remember for its eye-watering launch price and its relatively strong pixel-pushing power for the time. Despite that relative power, though, a fascinating new video from Modern Vintage Gamer argues that the Neo Geo's architecture makes it particularly ill-suited for a port of id's famously easy-to-port game. [Hidden Content] At first glance, the Neo Geo seems like it should be up to the task of running Doom. The Motorola 68000 CPU inside the console is the same one powering the Commodore Amiga, which has seen quite a few homebrew Doom ports over the years. Read full article Comments View the full article

  20. Bungie is trying out something unique with Marathon Season 2, creating what it calls a "PvP lite and low-risk way" to play the game, set aside from regular runs. The mode, named Sponsored Survival, will drop a single crew into the new zone, Night Marsh, free to loot and fight UESC bots to their heart's content. That is, at least, for a little while, because as the game progresses, some unwelcome visitors are set to arrive, desperate to steal any gear they can get their hands on.
