  7. Rayman Legends Retold has now been officially announced by Ubisoft following earlier leaks. The souped-up platforming remake has been completely remade with 3D visuals for its original sidescrolling sections, plus all-new 3D gameplay segments, as glimpsed in a reveal trailer shown during today's big PlayStation State of Play broadcast. Rayman Legends Retold will launch on October 1 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, and is priced at $39.99. Today's trailer also offered a glimpse at the game's reimagined story, which also features voiced cutscenes. Musical levels will also return, though the four new ones mentioned by Ubisoft in a press release sound like they'll be different from the original (****** Betty level RIP). On the upside, the game's compulsive Kung Foot soccer minigame is also back with new power-ups. "Rayman Legends Retold is our way of revisiting what makes Rayman so special, and re‑telling that experience for a new generation of players," said Ubisoft brand producer Loïc Gounon. "We wanted to preserve everything fans love, and Legends gave us the perfect foundation to expand Rayman's lore, its world logic, and how everything connects together." Rayman Legends is one of the best sidescrolling platformers to not feature Mario, and it's clear Ubisoft is keen to give it a new lease of life. Previous leaks revealed planned crossovers with characters from Astro Bot and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Contrary to previous rumors, however, multiplayer will remain local-only, rather than online. The project has once again been worked on by Ubisoft Montpellier, the location previously headed up by Rayman creator Michel Ancel, before he quit the company to go work in a wildlife park. Ubisoft is seemingly keen to revive the fortunes of its platforming mascot after years in the wilderness. Earlier this year saw the launch of Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition, and there's talk of an all-new Rayman project in the works for the future (which Ancel himself has consulted on). Exactly when that will materialize is unknown, but another chance to play Legends and all of its new content will certainly keep us busy. 8. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls showed up for the Sony State of Play June 2026 presentation with a first look at new playable characters Carnage, Green Goblin, and Magneto. Gameplay for the roster additions revealed that the trio will be joining Knights of Doom team leader Doctor Doom when developer Arc System Works’ comic book fighting game launches August 6, 2026. It's a first look at the latest team to join the game. Doctor Doom is one Marvel villain players have been looking forward to for some time. His three teammates, however, bring brand-new reveals. You can see a first look at gameplay for Carnage, Green Goblin, and Magneto below. Carnage is one character that players were hoping to see enter the fray following a cleverly disguised teaser from a few weeks ago. It's for that reason that some may not be caught off guard to see him join today, but aside from a few leaks and rumors, Magneto and Green Goblin present quite the surprise. Here's everything announced at State of Play June 2026 if you need a catch-up on what PlayStation has in store. Developing… Michael Cripe is a freelance writer with IGN. 9. PlayStation's highly-anticipated State of Play event was flooded by demands for Destiny 3. During the opening of the show, PlayStation's official Twitch chat was almost completely dominated by cries for a new Destiny game. The chat was spamming Destiny-related emotes along with the hashtag #WeWantDestiny3. The YouTube chat was a bit quieter, but there was still a vocal amount of people calling for a new game in the Bungie franchise. It came as a bit of a surprise, as PlayStation opened the show with an in-depth look at its most anticipated game of the year, Marvel's Wolverine. And yet, people were more focused on demanding a new Destiny game. This comes nearly two weeks after it was announced that Bungie would be winding down support on Destiny 2 and transitioning all of its focus to Marathon while incubating new projects. Bloomberg also reported that Bungie was preparing to layoff a 'significant' number of staff and that Destiny 3 was not in active development. That report cast doubt on Destiny 3 happening at all, given how much it would cost to produce the game. Marathon failed to meet expectations and Destiny 2 has been dwindling for the last couple of years, meaning Sony may not feel as confident in giving the studio another $300+ million to make a game that wouldn't come out until the 2030s. As you might imagine, Destiny fans have been living in anguish since the news came out and they're determined to change Bungie/PlayStation's mind. Destiny fans are hoping to surpass Marathon's all-time concurrent player count on June 9, when Destiny 2's final content update releases, to show how much demand there is for new Destiny content. That would mean at least 77,359 players would all have to play Marathon at the same time on Steam. Whether or not they're able to actually accomplish this remains to be seen, but if there's a notable spike in players, it would be pretty impressive. It seems unlikely players will be able to push Bungie and PlayStation into making a third Destiny game, unless Bungie is able to make some kind of smaller-scale spin-off that can be done cheaper and faster. It's not entirely clear what Bungie's future looks like, but the studio is reportedly interested in doing more stories in the Destiny universe. Cade Onder is a freelancer for IGN's news team. 14. June is here once again, dear reader. You know what that means. In a lot of the world, it’s about to get real hot. But so is the gaming industry, because it’s also now the season formerly-known-as-E3. First up is PlayStation with the June 2026 State of Play, and it’s shaping up to be thick with news. Clocking in at over an hour long, the June 2 State of Play will feature Marvel’s Wolverine a few months ahead of its launch date, but there’s still plenty of room and time for some massive announcements. [Hidden Content] God of War? Final Fantasy? Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet? Halo?! Sure, why not. Buckle up, and get ready to see what’s coming in 2026 and beyond on PS5. Marvel’s Wolverine – Extended gameplay trailer [Hidden Content] As promised, Wolverine started off the show, featuring a whole lot of the ********* mutant slicing and dicing all sorts of cyborg enemies. It features quite a bit of blood…like, a lot of blood, which is what you’d want from a Wolverine game. And he’s literally bathing in it. And as expected, Wolverine is not the only mutant involved. He’s trying to rescue Leech and some others who’ve been kidnapped, and none other than fellow X-Men Jean Grey is also on the case. The action is intense, the graphics are great, and did I mention it’s bloody? The combat looks similar to the third-person combat in Marvel’s Spider-Man, including finisher moves with button prompts appearing above enemy’s heads. Looks like he’s got a rage meter that builds up to pull off some epic combos, too. MARVEL Tokon Fighting Souls – Knights of Doom trailer [Hidden Content] Marvel’s upcoming PS5 console-exclusive fighting game got a new look ahead of its launch in August, including the confirmation of new characters joining Doctor Doom’s villainous team, Knights of Doom: Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage. Rayman Legends Retold – Reveal trailer [Hidden Content] A classic reimagined! Rayman Legends Retold is looking glorious with a new art style and some exciting graphics. It’s launching on Oct. 1. 19. Steam's Free-to-Keep Promotion is one of the best free game giveaways on the internet, and the latest addition is a hardcore simulation game (available until June 5) that focuses on realistic gameplay similar to the classic Ballance. The latest giveaway is Winexy, which is a retro-style hardcore simulation game from 2017, as it is quite difficult despite its simplicity. While Steam's Free-to-Keep Promotion offers a lot of small-scale indie games like Winexy, it also allows major publishers to give games away for free. View the full article
  20. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis looks set for a release date delay announcement, after what appears to be an online advert leak ahead of Sony’s State of Play showcase. Wario64, who as an Amazon Associate tweets affiliate links, took to X / Twitter to link to two listings for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis on Amazon alongside images, apparently confirming a $59.99 price point and a February 10, 2027 release date. Neither link is currently live. We have no official explanation for the delay, but it's worth noting GTA 6's upcoming November launch, which will no doubt command attention and threaten the success of any triple-A video game that dares to come out in and around it. Tomb Raider will, however, now go up against Microsoft's Fable, which was similarly recently delayed to February 2027. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a remake of the original 1996 Tomb Raider, and was set for release later this year. Developer Crystal Dynamics is also working on a brand new Tomb Raider game, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which was due out at some point in 2027. Alix Wilton Regan plays Lara Croft in both games, replacing Camilla Luddington, who portrayed Lara Croft in the Survivor Trilogy. In March, Crystal Dynamics suffered its fourth redundancy round in 12 months, although the Embracer-owned studio insisted it remained “fully committed to the future development" of the Lara Croft franchise. The upcoming Tomb Raider games are published by Amazon, which is also working on a Tomb Raider TV show for Prime Video starring Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner. Not long now until State of Play.
