At this point, I anxiously follow just about everything From Software is working on, but I'm most excited for Elden Ring Nightreign. I got a lot of enjoyment out of Elden Ring's co-op, flawed though it was, so any game that attempts to deliver the same sort of experience with more seamless options for playing with friends would naturally be at the top of my list. But more so than that, Nightreign has already demonstrated a willingness to take creative risks. It looks like Elden Ring, but it plays like a totally different game. View the full article

A brand-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game has just been announced, and it is something very few fans could have seen coming, with the title slated to be a VR release. The iconic heroes in a half shell have a rich history with gaming, thanks in no small part to the classic beat 'em ups released at the height of Turtlemania in the early 90s and their later spiritual successors. However, more recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesgames have started to branch out into other genres. View the full article
It's bad news for Microsoft, as a new set of Lenovo Legion Go S benchmarks between the Windows 11 and SteamOS versions shows that SteamOS is much better for gaming on handhelds right now, emphasising the performance gulf between the two platforms. With SteamOS also now officially available for third-party handhelds, this benchmark is further proof that Windows should no longer necessarily be the first choice for PC gamers. In our initial Lenovo Legion Go S test back at CES, we praised how natural SteamOS felt on the Lenovo handheld. The company wasn't willing to make performance comparisons with its Windows 11 model at the time, but it looks like the Microsoft platform is the slower option for gamers looking for the best handheld right now. I don't ask for very much in life. I like good coffee, competitive esports, and, sometimes, getting caught in the rain (given I'm from Scotland, that part happens a lot). But all I want from 2025 is for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 to be my game of the year. A slot currently occupied by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, I'd love to see the World of Darkness shine yet again. Bloodhunt was great, but it didn't last. Swansong, which in theory sounded great, quickly became monotonous. Aside from visual novels like Shadows of New York and its recent sister title, Reckoning of New York, VTM's virtual universe hasn't wowed anyone lately - in short, Bloodlines 2 has to deliver. Grand Theft Auto 6, you are so close, yet so far away. 364 days as of today, exactly. And so that means there's a lot of gaming time to fill between now and then. If you're a fan of games like GTA, and who isn't, then we may have a sleeper hit on our hands coming out in just a few weeks. The game is called MindsEye, and it's from the new studio founded by former Rockstar Games president and GTA 5 producer Leslie Benzies. Image via Build A Rocket Boy In a new video released today by the game's dev studio, Build a Rocket Boy, the game lays it all out to explain exactly what it is: a third-person, open-world action game in the same vein as GTA and Red Dead Redemption, but with a near-future twist. MindsEye is set in a fictional desert city named Redrock, and it features just about everything you'd expect from a game like GTA. There's lots of driving and shooting action as you play as a character named Jacob, "in a world where AI, hi-tech experimentation and unchecked military power shapes every encounter." Doesn't sound too far from the truth nowadays. As part of today's new trailer, MindsEye's 2025 roadmap was unveiled, teasing lots of upcoming content updates and different game modes like a Horde mode, car races, combat missions, drone races, and more, with future plans for collabs, new missions, and even multiplayer some time in the fall. I could see this game performing very well with gamers looking to scratch their GTA itch while waiting for GTA 6, and it's one I've had my eye on for a while. I'm hoping for the best for it, and it's one I will continue to watch and play while dreaming of a new, popular game that evokes the feelings of GTA and GTA Online. At the same time, it could also fall flat on its face trying to do what Rockstar Games is best at, without forming its own identity. Time will tell, and it's only a few short weeks away from launching, so it's a title that gamers may need to keep on their radar. Image via Build A Rocket Boy MindsEye launches on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on June 10. The post If you can’t wait another year for GTA 6, this upcoming game from one of the series’ producers may scratch the itch appeared first on Destructoid. View the full article
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has hit another impressive milestone: 3.3 million sales in 33 days. That’s a lot of threes! Publisher Kepler Interactive and developer Sandfall Interactive announced the sales today, after the turn-based RPG crossed 1 million sales in its first three days of release. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 launched on April 24 across PC and console, but also straight into Xbox Game Pass as a day-one title. It also launched up against Bethesda’s RPG behemoth The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. But despite being in a subscription service and having that tough competition, Clair Obscur has carved out a significant slice of sales success for itself. It’s worth noting the 3.3 million sales figure does not include additional downloads through Xbox and PC Game Pass. Kepler declared Clair Obscur “a commercial success” and “a feat for an independent production.” “The game was developed by a small studio made up of around 30 core team members, some of whom were working on a video game project for the very first time,” Kepler added. When Bethesda shadow-dropped The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered amid the launch of fellow role-playing game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, most thought there could be only one winner. However, it turned out that there was plenty of room for both games to succeed. Indeed, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has done so well that French President Macron has praised the development team. You may remember that in January of 2022, A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-pooh stories entered the public domain, inspiring deeply crap ideas like "what if *********** character but knives?" in the case of Blood And Honey , and "what if *********** character but mildly naughty word?", in the case of smirking billboardian human doppelganger Ryan Reynolds. Videogames were not immune. "What if *********** character but Cronenbergian body horror?" asked the developers of Winnie's Hole when they announced a roguelike dungeon crawler based on the bear in 2023, and there's now a Steam demo available, should you wish to scoop up honey with arms-where-no-arms-should-rightly-be.
