  1. Cattle Country, a new addition to the farming sim space, has released on Steam. But to set it apart from what I'd say is a completely oversaturated genre, it strays from your standard routine as a farmer and puts you into the boots of a cowboy. If that's not enough to convince you to check it out, Arthur Morgan's voice actor, Roger Clark, narrates the launch trailer. Which, yes, is a selling point... Read more.View the full article

  5. Schedule 1, the crime simulator game that took the gaming community by storm earlier this year, has reportedly sold 8 million copies since its early access launch in March. Unlike other similar titles on the market, Schedule 1was created and continues to be developed by a single individual, making this sales achievement all the more impressive. View the full article

  13. The night looms, as Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have confirmed the global release times for Elden Ring Nightreign. The official release date for Elden Ring Nightreign is May 30 at midnight EDT, for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S. As per usual, though, some timezone differences mean that certain regions will be able to log on and play a bit earlier. West coast players in the Pacific time zone, for example, can boot up Elden Ring Nightreign at 9pm on May 29. Platforms also differ, too. Per Bandai Namco's post, PC players will be able to hop in slightly ahead of everyone else in most regions. For the U.S. East Coast, PC players can start at 6pm on May 29 while console owners are stuck waiting until midnight. Bandai Namco said pre-load is available 48 hours prior to launch time on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. In IGN's interview with Elden Ring Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki, the Nightreign lead discussed the choice to lean on solos and trios as the core experience options. When asked why there's no option for a pair of players to drop in together without a matchmade third player, Ishizaki said it was overlooked. "The simple answer is that this is simply something that was overlooked during development as just a two-player option, so we're very sorry about that," said Ishizaki. "As we said before, we set out to make this a multiplayer co-op game for three players, balanced for three players, so that was the main focus and it's at the core of Nightreign. "Of course, I myself as a player understand that and often want times where I'm just playing myself, so this is something that we considered from the start," Ishizaki continued. "And so we did put a lot of effort into creating this experience that was playable for solo players in as much as the rules and new systems allowed. So in putting all our efforts into that aspect, we kind of overlooked and neglected the duos aspect, but this is something that we are looking at and considering for post-launch support as well." So if you're playing with just your favorite duos partner, be ready to accept a random third into your lives. Who knows? You might match up with someone pretty good at the game. 15. Somehow, someway, people are getting retail versions of the Nintendo Switch 2 a week ahead of launch, but upon turning on the system, they have found out that they are unable to play any games on it due to the system needing a day one patch to work, including using physical games. This has led to an uproar among fans on social media about Nintendo locking the console's basic features behind a day one update, though, equally, it means Nintendo has stopped games like Mario Kart World from leaking at all until day one by using this method. Most of the arguments stem from the console being locked entirely until you update it and if you don't have an internet connection, your buying a brick at launch, though, I feel the argument is being taken further then it should be, especially with the PS5 won't let you use the disk drive until you update it online, and the Series X having similiar download gate keeping at launch. [Hidden Content] After the initial day one update, you'll be free to use the Switch 2 as intended. It's about getting over that initial hurdle. Approximately 93% of the US population has internet access, and most major cities and towns have some form of public internet, even if it's slow. So surely there are a lot of options? I'm aware that outside of the US and other countries, there are places you can buy the console reasonably, but internet speed and connection aren't as great as in other parts of the world, but I feel like there has to be some workaround, surely? I also feel like if you can afford to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 and its games, then surely you can source some form of internet, either at an internet cafe, coffee shop, friends, family, etc. It feels baffling to me that this remains an issue. But perhaps I'm more disillusioned than I care to admit. But I made this story to try and gauge if it's just a me thing, feeling this way, or if others share the same sentiment, or can give me a different viewpoint on where this outrage is coming from. Let me know in the comments down below. The post Switch 2 requires internet to work, but is it really that big of a deal? appeared first on Destructoid. 16. Two very good skating games are back up for ***** on Steam after disappearing for four months. Bright 'n' cheery skateboarding game OlliOlli World and dystopian rollerskate shooter Rollerdrome both vanished in a cloud of toxic corporate smoke in February this year, some time after the closure of the games' developers Roll7. But it looks like the poisonous fumes have finally cleared, and the games are once again available. Read more View the full article

  18. Well, it's happened. The Nintendo Switch 2 has reportedly emerged into the wild ahead of time, into the hands of people on the internet who're keen to make videos showing off the fact that you open the box and ***** - there's a Switch 2 in there. It doesn't look like any such folks are actually able to play games on the console though, thanks to an impending update. Read more View the full article

  21. Reader, I'm getting some serious de ja vu from the the poster for Liberation Escape Rooms 'Castle Of Conundrums' experience, but I'm having trouble placing it. I don't think I've been to this escape room before, never having visited the town of Southaven, Mississippi. Perhaps I should go? The reviews are positively glowing. "Very exciting and unique escape rooms," writes Anna R. Five stars! "Today's game in the Castle just blew us away," enthuses Tracey S. Five stars again! An unmissable experience by all accounts. And yet, I'd feel woefully unequiped to take on the Castle Of Conundrums if I cannot solve the much more pressing conundrum at hand. Read more View the full article
  22. “The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne," wrote Chaucer. But you'd trained hard with that crossbow, and let any man in bolting distance try to claim you hadn't mastered it. You never wanted to go to war, but the crops were failing, you'd just lost your seventeenth child to medium-pox, and dark portents swirled on the horizon like curdled goat's milk. Also, the actual goat's milk was curdling. In that tent, you'd communed with angels, and the righteous fury of all the heavens coursed through every fibre of your being. You'd likely die today, you knew. But you'd die knowing you did all you could to put this fair kingdom to rights. You step outside, breathe deep the morning air, and immediately eat a point blank pump-action shotgun to the torso. Then you lose both your legs to the tank shell. Then someone runs over your corpse with a dirtbike. Bloody typical. Read more View the full article
