Build a Rocket Boy, the studio behind MindsEye, has reportedly started the process of laying off numerous staff. According to a report at IGN, which cites studio sources speaking under anonymity, the Edinburgh-based developer has started a 45-day consultation process with staff today. Charlie Cox’s name and voiceover work are attached to one of the front-runners for 2025 game of the year, but that hasn’t stopped the Daredevil star from feeling like “a total fraud” whenever he receives congratulations for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s success. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the debut title from French studio Sandfall Interactive, and it has outperformed all expectations. It sold an appropriate 3.3 million copies in 33 days, which is a wonderful return for a game everyone thought was going to get crushed by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Cox, who plays party member Gustave, is among Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s star-studded cast, which also includes Jennifer English as Maelle, Ben Starr as Verso, and Andy Serkis as Renoir. But his actual work on the game only amounted to a single four-hour recording session, he admitted at 2025 Washington State Summer **** over the weekend. As captured by the @charliefansite X / Twitter fansite in a post spotted by GamesRadar, Cox revealed that while he is delighted for Sandfall, he can’t take any credit for the game’s success. “I don’t mean to minimize it in any way, and apparently the game is awesome,” he began. “I’m not a gamer, I have no idea, I haven’t played it. A godsend when looking to avoid the fog, having a Faerie Lantern on your backpack can allow you to turn even a hopeless climb filled with mistakes into a complete success in PEAK. But what exactly makes the lantern such a great find? Here's what the Faerie Lantern does in PEAK, as well as how you can get your hands on one. To the delight of all who either came in contact with the wrong mushrooms or are dealing with severe debuffs in PEAK, the Faerie Lantern both heals and clears all status effects from those within its AOE once lit. Before you ask, no, there's no way to recharge the lantern once its juice runs out, so make sure to save it for either the late biomes or for moments when you find yourself on your last legs during the climb. How to get a Faerie Lantern Like pretty much all other Legendary items in the game, you can get the Faerie Lantern in PEAK via either the Ancient Statues found at the end of each biome or by opening the Ancient Luggage scattered throughout the mountain. Keep in mind that the item is only one out of a wide selection of available drops provided by both of the above, so don't get your hopes up. So you can have an idea, even after attempting nine runs and finding multiple Bugles of Friendship, we were unable to get a single Faerie Lantern from the Ancient Statues. Available as part of the plane ****** loot on every run, many might see the regular lantern as a waste of an item slot, even more so if we consider how the nights in the mountain are by no means dangerous. But that's only true until you reach Alpine, as the regular lantern can counter the effects of frost while lit. To keep its effect active while you climb, light it up and put it on your backpack. Indie sensation PEAK is all about surviving the island and reaching the highest ascent possible with your gang, but the different biomes are not the only challenges to your objective. The game might not have monsters in the typical sense that are staples of other survival games like The Forest, but there are few creatures roaming along the islands. A few of them might not be major threats as long as you deal with them properly, but there's one entity that's pretty vicious: the Scoutmaster. Table of contentsAll available monsters in PEAKScoutmasterBeesTickAll available monsters in PEAK There are three 'monsters' currently available in the game, and two of them are relatively minor and easier to handle. Scoutmaster Screenshot by Destructoid The Scoutmaster is like the Yeti of the Himalayas, except for the fact that it is real. If you're playing solo, you'll have to blow hard on the Scoutmaster's Bugle (if you manage to obtain it in the first place). This will maximize your stamina, but the Scoutmaster will start chasing you for a minute. There's no known way to defeat this entity (I have tried a lot of things, but nothing worked). There are other ways to increase your stamina, like drinking water or using another legendary item called the Bugle of Friendship. If you're playing in a group, and one of the players gets too far ahead on the ascent, the Scoutmaster will spot you automatically. It will then start chasing the player who got ahead of the rest of the group. In fact, Rule 0 is not to leave your teammates alone on your ascent, or else the Scoutmaster will put an end to your climb. Summoning the Scoutmaster also completes the Mentorship Badge achievement (also works if the entity summons itself) and grants you the Inverted Eyes cosmetic. Bees Bees typically will attack you when you try to mess with their hives. When you're in a group, one of you will have to lure the bees while the rest of the members can steal valuable resources from the hives. The bees typically chase you for a random duration, and their speed apparently also varies. The only technique is to run away from them and keep running till they stop chasing. Tick Image via Aggrocrab Ticks can burrow deep into your legs, and they will keep sucking your blood and finally add stacks of poison. If you're solo, you won't notice it till the poison stacks are applied. Then, crouch and remove the Tick from your legs. If you're playing in a group, chances are that your friends will notice the insect. Stand still, and let them remove the tick from you. Alternatively, do the same if you notice the pest on your friend. Once removed, Ticks can be consumed as food (for some reason, they're considered as a berry in the game). Doing so will also complete the Foraging Bond achievement that requires you to eat five unique berries on your expedition (where the Tick will count as a variant). Build A Rocket Boy has told staff a redundancy process has begun amid the disastrous launch of MindsEye. The cuts could affect over 100 employees, studio sources have told IGN. One person, who asked to remain anonymous in order to protect their career, told IGN there’s no word yet on exactly how many staff are affected, but the standard 45-day consultation process starts today, June 23, which according to *** law is triggered when an employer proposes 100 or more redundancies within a 90-day *******. IGN understands Build A Rocket Boy currently has around 300 *** employees, with around 200 abroad. IGN has asked Build A Rocket Boy for comment. Staff now face an anxious wait to find out whether they will be affected. Meanwhile, there are serious questions over whether Build A Rocket Boy will be able to fulfill its post-launch roadmap for content, including the promised multiplayer mode, on time. Last week, Build A Rocket Boy said it was “heartbroken” over the issues players had faced with the recently released game, and promised to issue a series of patches to fix the significant performance problems, glitches, and AI behavior issues. Rollout of these patches has begun. All the while, MindsEye’s troubled launch saw the developer cancel sponsored streams, and reports of players securing refunds, even from the normally stubborn Sony. On Steam, which does not paint the whole picture of MindsEye’s current popularity, the game hit a peak concurrent player count of 3,302 on launch, but had a 24-hour peak of just 130 players. At the time of this article’s publication, 52 people were playing on Steam, with a mostly negative’ user review rating. MindsEye was initially a part of Everywhere, the ‘Roblox for adults’ game creation platform led by former Grand Theft Auto design chief Leslie Benzies. Build A Rocket Boy, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, eventually switched to focus on MindsEye, its story-driven action adventure game, but it has so-far failed to do the business for the company. In an email to staff reviewed by IGN, co-CEO Mark Gerhard insisted the studio remained committed to MindsEye, but pointed to a shift from an intense development and launch phase to a sustainable post-launch support phase. Gerhard had hit the headlines ahead of MindsEye's launch for claiming there was a "concerted effort" by some to "trash the game and the studio," suggesting people were being paid or using spam bots to post negative comments. This specific item wasn't part of the launch version, but it was added as part of an update on June 18. Since then, players have been busy trying to find it, which isn't very difficult (as long as you haven't started your ascent). The ******* confusion happens when it comes to using the item. No, it doesn't create a literal bridge (that would have been cool), but it does generate a pole. Once the bean is used, you'll create a tall pole, which is actually a stalk that goes very high above the ground. I don't know its exact height, but it's significantly taller than palm trees on the island. Using the Magic Bean is pretty easy. Take it out of your item slot or your inventory, and throw it down on the ground. That's it, as the stalk will come out of the ground and keep growing. If you have guessed it by now, the stalk is scalable and allows you to reach locations that otherwise wouldn't be possible. For example, it's one way to reach the floating luggage, where ropes won't be able to help you. How to get the Magic Bean in PEAK? Screenshot via Landcrab Obtaining many of the items in the game is purely random. For example, the Bugle of Friendship is obtainable from Ancient Chests or statues at campfires. However, there's no guarantee of obtaining one, which isn't the case with the Magic Bean. Some rumors suggest that they're located at the exact spot (I will verify this once we get a new island), but you'll always find them on the SHORE. Just scout the beaches on the SHORE, and it will look like the image above. Make sure to throw the bean at a suitable spot to use it properly; don't use it in an area where there are plenty of scalable cliffs. Whoops — Sony just leaked Monster Hunter Wilds' Title Update 2 via the official PlayStation website. The changes have been rolled back now, naturally, but for a brief while the Monster Hunter Wilds page on the PlayStation Store revealed the update is set to release on June 30. As well as a firm release date, Sony's website also confirmed we'll be getting more events, layered weapons, the Leviathan Arch-Tempered Uth Duna, and two "fan-favorite" monsters — one is definitely Lagiacrus, the underwater leviathan, with the other widely speculated to be Seregios, based on datamine sources.
