  1. Sony has announced that Midnight ******* Club, an upcoming PlayStation 5 console exclusive, will leave early access and launch on Thursday, August 14. Described as a "horror party game," Midnight ******* Club hasn't drawn all that many players in early access, but it has managed to get "Mostly Positive" reviews on Steam and 4.49 stars on the PlayStation Store. 2. Sloclap's hotly anticipated football 'em up has finally hit the pitch, and it's proving to be as nuanced as it is popular. You can ****** up for a match only minutes after booting it up for the first time, but after playing a lot of Rematch myself, I highly recommend first getting a sense for its fast pace and slew of keybinds far away from any peeved teammates spamming the 'Good job!' emote... 3. You'll come across some grim-looking mysterious statues on the island in PEAK, and contrary to popular belief, interacting with them doesn't kill you. If anything, they provide you with boons that will benefit your adventures. The nature and type of boons you receive will depend slightly on whether your party members are dead. Let's look at what happens when you interact with a statue in the game (again, you won't die). What happens when you interact with a statue in PEAK? The statues are typically located near campfires, starting with the SHORE region. This is the first region you'll access after your ******. If you scout the location, you'll come across the statue. If you miss it, no worries, for there are statues at other locations on the island. Once you reach them, you'll get the option to interact with them. Upon interaction, you'll randomly get legendary/mystical items from them. These are the rarest items to find in the game and have amazing in-game effects. My favorite is the Bugle of Friendship, which gives infinite stamina to your squad for 10 seconds. The effect is game-changing when activated at the correct moment, making it one of the most powerful items to have. While these items can also be obtained from Ancient Chests, having an extra chance is never a bad idea. Screenshot via Landcrab Let's suppose more of your teammates are dead. Going to a statue should be a top priority. The statue allows you to revive your dead teammates if your party weakens. Of course, there are other ways to revive your team, like the Cursed Skull (well, you end up dead in that case), but the ancient statues are just fine. It's a no-lose effort since you'll always get something beneficial in return. Some of the statues are hard to find. However, putting in the extra effort to find them will be beneficial and help your team escape the island by reaching the highest possible point. Of course, reaching a statue takes time, and they're located sparsely across different biomes. A few great items that are common in nature can also help to increase your chances of survival. Make sure to go through our detailed list to find out more about what they do, and which ones are best to prioritize and find on your journey. 4. Did you know that PEAK has an adorable plushie companion you can bring with you on your mountain-climbing adventures? Bing ***** is a goofy-looking green plushie you'll find at your map's spawn, giving you a friend even if you're traveling solo. Table of contentsHow to find Bing ***** in PEAKWhat does Bing ***** do in PEAK?How to find Bing ***** in PEAK Bing ***** appears inside the plane you ******-landed from. As you wake up on the shore, turn around to spot this green plushie sitting on one of the chairs. Here, you can pick up Bing *****, letting you carry, drop, or throw the plushie as you please. Screenshot by Destructoid Although PEAK's maps change every 24 hours, this part will remain the same. You won't have to worry about venturing deep into the Shore and levels beyond if you want to have this little guy as a companion. If you forget about Bing ***** and want to quickly retrieve it before climbing up the mountain, you can use a compass to run south toward the plane ****** site and then return forward. However, you'll need to watch out for the fog and make sure it doesn't freeze you to death. What does Bing ***** do in PEAK? Bing ***** is part of a Steam achievement, Bing ***** Badge. Obtaining this achievement requires helping Bing ***** escape the island by bringing the plushie with you throughout your entire playthrough, right up until the end. If you escape while it's in your inventory, you'll gain this achievement and the satisfaction of knowing you saved an innocent plushie's life. Aside from this, it serves no gameplay purpose. Technically, it can increase morale if having Bing ***** around makes you happy, but it won't raise your stats or give you resistance. If anything, it takes up a precious inventory slot that you could otherwise use on supplies that'll help you progress. In short, it's only helpful to bring Bing ***** along if you like hunting for achievements or need a friend to join you up the mountain. Even if you're playing with friends, having this little critter in one of your backpacks and looking at its face is enough to bring a smile to anyone's face. 6. Rekindling the long-running debate about whether Call of Duty skins have well and truly gone off the deep end, Beavis and Butt-Head are heading to the game. Beavis and Butt-Head are perhaps the poster boys of the MTV generation and genuine 90s cartoon icons. Created by Mike Judge, Beavis and Butt-Head are two idiotic teen slackers who sit around grunting and giggling at rock music on MTV. Call of Duty has form when it comes to 90s-themed skins, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised to see Beavis and Butt-Head finally get their moment in the shooter. But what is perhaps surprising is how their skins look, which is a jarring combination of the cartoon style fans know Beavis and Butt-Head for, but wearing MilSim outfits. Mike Judge’s Beavis & Butt-Head are coming to Call of Duty Season 04 Reloaded [Hidden Content] — Call of Duty (@CallofDuty) June 23, 2025 “Of all the collabs to get military-themed outfits in this game, I definitely did not see Beavis and Butt-Head getting one,” said redditor RdJokr1993. “Lol these are unironically more MilSim than most skins in the game,” added LoneRogue2018. Others are coming up with on-brand one-liners we might hear Beavis and Butt-Head say in-game. For example: “Heh heh heh heh, he said 'Duty.'” In truth, Beavis and Butt-Head shouldn’t come as any surprise to anyone who’s played Call of Duty in the last few years. This is a game that has the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a Dragon Knight that looks straight out of Skyrim, and, more recently, a skin made from strips of bacon, all running around realistic, war-torn environments. Activision releases these sorts of skins and players complain about realism, but they sell enough for Activision to keep releasing these sorts of skins. And so the cycle continues. The question will be how much Beavis and Butt-Head cost. Activision has come under fire recently for its ultra aggressive monetization of ****** Ops 6 and Warzone, with some players complaining about the high price of bundles, the introduction of event passes, and ever more expensive battle passes. Earlier this month, Activision pulled controversial adverts placed inside ****** Ops 6 and Warzone loadouts, insisting they were a “feature test” published “in error.” It’s worth remembering that ****** Ops 6 is a premium, $70 game, and this year’s ****** Ops 7 is set to jump to $80. And will this Beavis and Butt-Head skin carry forward into the recently announced ****** Ops 7? Activision has yet to say. But given the timing of its release, the hope is that anyone who forks out for Beavis and Butt-Head will get bang for their buck. For now, Call of Duty players are speculating that getting a headshot against Beavis and Butt-Head might be a little easier than against other skins in the game. Is this a pay-to-lose bundle? Good luck to those sitting on them headies… [Hidden Content] — Team WaR (@OfficialTeamWaR) June 23, 2025 We don't know when the Season 4 Reloaded mid-season update is set to launch exactly, but based on how many days players have left to complete the Season 4 battle pass, it should be released on or around June 26. Add-ons have been available for the PC since The Elder Scrolls Online first launched on the platform in April 2014. 12. We're seeing the first tantalizing signs of green shoots appearing in the US graphics card market, with the prices of several cards dropping to their lowest levels for months. Most notably, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and AMD Radeon RX 9070 are now available to buy for half-sensible prices, rather than the outlandish sums they've been demanding until recently. As we found in our GeForce RTX 5070 review, this mid-range Nvidia GPU doesn't quite have enough VRAM to play some of the latest games at top settings, but it does have a decent amount of rendering power at its disposal, as well as support for the full Nvidia DLSS 4 suite, including multi frame gen. We preferred the AMD GPU in our Radeon RX 9070 review, as it comes with a full 16GB of memory, even if the 9070 XT is significantly quicker. Read the rest of the story... 17. It looks as though AMD is gearing up to launch a new AMD Ryzen X3D gaming CPU with a cheaper price than the acclaimed Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The new AMD Ryzen 5 9600X3D may not have officially launched, but the name of the new gaming CPU has now been spotted in a driver entry on AMD's own website, hinting that its release is imminent. AMD has recently changed its approach to the design of its X3D chips, with the huge layer of 64MB cache now sitting under the CPU cores, rather than on top of them, while also moving to the powerful new AMD Zen 5 architecture. 18. "Wait, it's a survival game?" That was the prevailing question surrounding We Happy Few when it launched in early access in 2016. Having lowered jaws industry-wide with the rich world and narrative clout it demonstrated in previews beforehand, it felt almost like a bait-and-switch that Compulsion's hype magnet was not, in fact, from the Bioshock mold, but more of a DayZ-alike in Andrew Ryan's clothing. Here was a game pulled straight from the sort of books you'd expect to find on Ken Levine's bedside table: Huxley's Brave New World and Orwell's 1984, novels rich in social allegory and poetic resonance, distinct from the pulp of Tom Clancy or Warhammer that other games unduly lean upon. It had found a genuinely fresh setting in alt-history 1960s Britain, where everyone takes psychoactive drugs to suppress the terrible reality that would otherwise confront and consume them. 19. Dune: Awakening has sold over 1 million copies in two weeks. Developer Funcom announced the news earlier today, confirming that to go along with a superb launch with a "very positive" user review rating on Steam, over 1 million players "have awakened," making it Funcom's "fastest-selling game ever." "Dune: Awakening launched June 10 and 1,000,000 players have awakened!" the studio said. "It’s now Funcom’s fastest-selling game ever. To put it into perspective, it took Conan Exiles one year to reach this number. We’re truly humbled and thankful for this reception. It must also be noted that you certainly don’t live up to your title, because you have been busy since launch. "Launch has been a Coriolis storm, and we’re still riding that mighty gale. We have seen so many amazing things from all of you — the bases, the close calls with Shai-Hulud, the epic vehicle jumps, the struggles, discoveries, victories, heroic deaths, and so much more... We salute you, Sleepers." Within hours of going live, Funcom's survival RPG had clocked up over 142,000 concurrent players on Valve's platform, and hit a new high last weekend of 189,333 players. We gave Dune: Awakening 8/10 in our review, writing: "Dune: Awakening is an excellent survival MMO that captures Frank Herbet’s sci-fi world incredibly well, mostly to its advantage and occasionally to its detriment. The survival climb from dehydrated peasant to powerful warlord of Arrakis is a joy almost every step of the way, and the story and worldbuilding filled this nerd with absolute joy. "There’s still plenty for Awakening to work on though, as its combat never really hits its stride, the endgame is a bit of a chaotic mess not worth the effort, and there’s quite a few technical bugs yet to be squashed, but even these rough patches felt like tiny desert mice next to the leviathan shai-huluds that are this survival game’s wonderful successes." Funcom is already "currently formulating a plan" to improve PvP in the Deep Desert, which players have previously branded as "toxic" due to griefing. Funcom has already patched out the ability for players to squish other people with their Ornithopter, but senior game director Viljar Sommerbakk also revealed the team was considering tweaking Ornis further, such as equipping them with rockets that "reduces overall maneuverability and max speed." If all that's got you interested, make sure to check out all the Dune: Awakening classes you can choose from, and keep an eye on our in-progress Dune: Awakening walkthrough for a step-by-step guide to the story. 20. The Blood of Dawnwalker is a dark fantasy action-RPG from Rebel Wolves, a team of ex-CD Projekt Red developers, that just released some actual gameplay footage over the weekend, and it instantly shot to the top of my most-wanted list. 22. What do you get when you combine the gameplay of survival horror titles like Dead Space and Resident Evil with a classic horror movie like The Thing? Well, it's right here. Comparing Cronos: The New Dawn to three of the most iconic names in horror is a big deal, but it's not without reason. A new developer diary detailing the upcoming title's gameplay has me more hyped for it than I already was, which is saying something. [Hidden Content] In the new video, game director Jacek Zięba and lead combat designer Shamil Yanbukhtin of Bloober Team (Silent Hill 2 remake, Layers of Fear) went into detail on how the third-person shooter will play, and it's impossible not to think of games like Dead Space and Resident Evil 4 when you see it in action. But Cronos: The New Dawn adds its own wrinkle with its enemy type, reminiscent of ooze from The Thing, which requires a special kind of strategy to deal with. The monsters in the game don't stay dead for long because they eventually merge to create something worse. And so, like in the Resident Evil remake, you need to burn their bodies to prevent it from happening. In true survival horror fashion, though, resources will be scarce, so you will need to decide when to fight, when to run, or figure out another way to complete your objectives by using temporal anomalies to travel backwards and forwards in time. Basically, we're in for a real trip. Cronos: The New Dawn also boasts some incredible-looking environments, creepy and atmospheric, to further push itself into the discussion for the survival horror genre, which seems to be on fire lately. And Bloober Team is a big part of that, so it's good to see the studio kicking off a new IP that looks so promising. Image via Bloober Team Cronos: The New Dawn is scheduled to launch sometime this fall for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. 23. A new Call of Duty announcement just hit the internet, but it unfortunately has nothing to do with ****** Ops 7, or any sort of gameplay at all, for that matter. No, gamers, today's CoD reveal is that Beavis and Butt-Head are coming to ****** Ops 6 and Warzone as part of Season Four Reloaded. Yes, seriously. The MTV-watching foul-mouthed teens who haven't been all that relevant in a couple decades are about to invade your lobby. [Hidden Content] This is the first news we've gotten about the midseason update for season four, which should be dropping this week on Wednesday or Thursday. The new update should also include a couple of new maps and modes for BO6 multiplayer, some modes in Zombies, the Olympia shotgun, Pickaxe melee weapon, and the return of Rebirth Island Ranked Play in Warzone. But first things first: Beavis and Butt-Head! This latest collab is the most recent in a long line of increasingly weird ones that seemingly nobody asked for, and the replies to CoD's news today seem incredulous. ****** Ops 7 was revealed a few weeks ago now, for example, but it still does not have a release date and pre-orders are not yet available. Gamers looking forward to jumping into the next CoD this fall will have to wait a bit longer, as it appears BO7's marketing push is on the backburner while BO6 gets its last few updates in the spotlight. Warzone players, meanwhile, are still just waiting for playlist updates to bring back the Solo option in battle royale, which has been missing for quite some time and seemingly replaced by the Casual variant. I do have to wonder, though, just when Call of Duty Next will take place and when BO7 will be launching. The rest of the content calendar for this current CoD is looking a bit iffy, with only the final Zombies map launching in season five some time in July being confirmed thus far. 24. Here I am again to argue that Civilization 7, as much as it may be too radical a departure from 4X game tradition, has the potential to be very, very good. Four months since Firaxis launched the strategy sequel and its Steam user ratings are still relatively dismal. Players find that the Ages system fractures and breaks the flow of your empire building, and that certain mechanics like crises and Legacy paths are too punitive or limiting. Competition is stiff. Stellaris keeps evolving, Ara History Untold is mounting a comeback, and beloved classics like Age of Empires 2 and even Civ 5 and 6 are pulling players away from Firaxis' latest.
