  3. Total War: Warhammer 40,000 will launch with four factions: Space Marines; Orks; Astra Militarum; and the Aeldari. But based on comments from developer Creative Assembly, it will eventually come to include pretty much every faction in the setting, added over the course of years. Creative Assembly announced Total War: Warhammer 40,000 at The Game Awards with a flashy trailer that combined CG and in-engine gameplay, showing off the scale of the hotly anticipated strategy game. We saw the Space Marines faction fighting against the Orks in a classic boots on the ground matchup, before the camera pulled back to reveal the galactic strategy layer you’ll be able to manage campaigns on. But the *****-owned developer, which is based in Horsham in the ***, has a grand plan to add many more factions to Total War: Warhammer 40,000 as part of a vision that may take a decade to realize. In a year-ending thank you post to the developer’s fans, Roger Collum, VP of Total War, said Creative Assembly’s goal is to create “the ultimate game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe,” one that will see “all your favorites from the setting eventually coexist with a vast galactic sandbox.” “Some of you have already pointed out that this is what the next 10 years looks like for CA,” Collum continued. “It’s going to take quite a bit of time to get everything in the massive 40k catalogue that deserves a place in the galaxy.” That’s an exciting proposition of fans of Warhammer 40,000, which is packed with factions to choose from. Some of the more high-profile factions currently not announced to be in Total War: Warhammer 40,000 include the Necrons, the Tyranids, the Adeptus Mechanicus (tech-priests of Mars), and Chaos Space Marines (come on Death Guard!). But there are many more on top of those to consider, such as the Tau, Genestealer Cults, the Drukhari (Dark Eldar), and Adepta Sororitas (Sisters of Battle). The list goes on. Total War: Warhammer 40,000 doesn’t yet have a release date, so putting a year on when these factions may turn up in-game is impossible. But it sounds like Creative Assembly is here for the long run, as it has been with its Total War: Warhammer games, which began in 2016 and is still seeing updates for Total War: Warhammer 3. It stands to reason that Creative Assembly will look to employ a similar model for Total War: Warhammer 40,000, which means fans can reasonably expect most of the setting’s factions to get some time in the sun, perhaps via the release of Total War: Warhammer 40,000 2 and 3 (that’s a lot of numbers, though!). There are few Total War: Warhammer 40,000 details that have emerged in the wake of the game’s announcement worth pointing out here. In a follow-up developer roundtable video, Creative Assembly confirmed you’ll be able to blow up a planet in the game, although described this as a last resort. In-universe, this is called Exterminatus, and can only be done with the go-ahead from the highest authorities within the Imperium of Man. Sometimes, there really isn’t any other option in the grim darkness of the far future. And the level of faction customization really does look impressive. Clearly, this isn’t a game about forcing players down the Ultramarines route, or any other Space Marine chapter for that matter. The hope is you’ll be able to not only realize that faction you’ve always dreamt about in aesthetic terms, but gameplay terms. Wesley is Director, News at IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100. 14. Fireballs have never been a good experience for me in ARC Raiders, but you'll want to encounter them as much as possible if you're aiming to complete the Flickering Flames project. Released as part of the Cold Snap update, the Flickering Flames project provides you with different rewards available across five levels. Fireball Burners is one of several items that you'll need to find to complete the project tasks. This guide will help you figure out more about how to find the Burners. Best locations for Fireball Burners in ARC Raiders To find Fireball Burners, you'll have to take down Fireballs (quite obviously). These are pesky enemies that are relatively easy to take down. However, you'll have to be strategic to avoid dying in the process. Fireballs are relatively common on all maps, and you can typically find them inside buildings. Fireballs monitor the corridors and rooms inside buildings. My favorite maps for Fireball Burners have always been Stella Montis and Dam Battlegrounds. Buildings like the Ruby Residence in the Dam Battlegrounds are great spots. There are multiple rooms and floors, raising the chances for you to encounter a Fireball. Screenshot and remix by Destructoid The Ruby Residence is also perfect for finding other valuable items like Film Reels and Frying Pans. You'll require these trinkets to complete the Flickering Flames project. Screenshot by Destructoid Another great map for Fireballs is Stella Montis. Unlike Dam Battlegrounds, I couldn't find a favorable spot. However, you can try and look in the middle of the map on the ground floor. You'll mostly encounter them inside rooms once you open the doors. To get the burners, you'll need to take down the Fireballs. The easiest way to do that is to wait for them to attack with you. Their cores will be exposed when they're trying to burn them down. Hit them a few times to destroy them and then get the Burner. You're going to need 10 Fireball Burners to finish one of the tasks of Level 4 of the Flickering Flames project. Committing the items will remove them from your inventory, but you'll get 1000 Creds on the side. The post How to find Fireball Burners in ARC Raiders appeared first on Destructoid. 15. Disney Dreamlight Valley's annual Gift of Giving event has arrived, ushering in a fun festival season packed with activities you can tackle. One of the tougher ones you'll encounter is the Ho! Ho! Ho! duty. All you're given to work with is the name of this task with no additional details to help you through it. The name is a slight clue, but not enough to help you actually get going on this one, so here's how to complete Ho! Ho! Ho! in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Table of contentsHo! Ho! Ho! duty in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to get Festive Wrapping Paper in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to craft gifts in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHo! Ho! Ho! duty reward in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHo! Ho! Ho! duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid To complete the Ho! Ho! Ho! duty in DDV, you need to give 10 villagers gifts wrapped in Festive Wrapping Paper. There are a few key steps you need to get done in this process, including: Finding Festive Wrapping Paper.Crafting eligible gifts.Finding 10 different villagers to give presents to. This is one of the trickiest tasks to get done in the Gift of Giving event since it has quite a few complex parts to it. It's certainly worth tackling to ensure you get to claim an exclusive prize, though, so here's a full breakdown of everything you need to do to get it done. How to get Festive Wrapping Paper in Disney Dreamlight Valley The first step is to get your hands on some Festive Wrapping Paper, which can be found close to Scrooge McDuck's shop wherever you have it placed in your main valley. It does not spawn near his store in DLC worlds, so make sure you're only looking in Dreamlight Valley for it. Between one and two Festive Wrapping Paper spawn every two hours, and a maximum of four can be present at any given time. If four Festive Wrapping Paper are present, the respawn timer won't start until you pick at least one up. Because of this, it's a good idea to check for it as often as you can while the event is running. How to craft gifts in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid There are four types of gifts you can craft with Festive Wrapping Paper. All four of these items can be given to villagers just like regular presents, but since they're special, they'll earn you both friendship points and progress in the Ho! Ho! Ho! event task. Then, repeat this process nine more times to give a total of 10 presents away. You can make any type of gifts you want out of the four options, but you must give presents to 10 unique villagers. I recommend taking note of each character you give a gift to, as it's easy to forget and end up giving the same character one twice. You can also use the Character tab under the Collection page to simply run down the list of villagers in order if you're willing to give presents to any character. Screenshot by Destructoid Ho! Ho! Ho! duty reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley Completing the Ho! Ho! Ho! duty by gifting villagers 10 wrapped presents gets you the Pile of Gifts furniture items as a reward. It's a great item for decorating festive and event spaces, so be sure to work through this mission while you can. If you miss out on completing Ho! Ho! Ho! this time around, you'll have another shot next year. The Gift of Giving event is an annual occurrence, which means it comes back around the same time each year. All old tasks stay, but some new ones may be added, too. There are plenty of other festive tasks to get done after this one. Next, you might work on finding gift boxes around the valley, catching all Festive Fish, and tackling Winter Warmth Star Path duties. The post How to complete Ho! Ho! 20. Star Path events sometimes ask you to take pictures with certain items, characters, or locations around the village in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One such task you may encounter challenges you to take one photo with a non-talking snowman. It can be a bit tricky to figure out what this task is referring to, but luckily, it's a fairly easy one to get done once you know what you're looking for. If you're struggling to solve what this task is asking of you, here's how to take one photo with a non-talking snowman in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Table of contentsWhat is a non-talking snowman in Disney Dreamlight Valley?Take one photo with a non-talking snowman in Disney Dreamlight ValleyWhat is a non-talking snowman in Disney Dreamlight Valley? Snapping a picture with Olaf doesn't count for this task, as he's a talking snowman rather than a non-talking one. Each snowman has a unique set of required materials, so here's what you need to make each one. Simply place it down anywhere you like so you may get to work on this mission. Another duty in this event does ask you to craft a snowman, though, so you will still need to make one at some point if you're hoping to earn as many event Tokens as possible. Take one photo with a non-talking snowman in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid To complete the take one photo with a non-talking snowman task, you need to snap one picture that includes a crafted snowman. To do so, you'll need to place one of the four qualified snowmen down somewhere around your villager, equip your phone from the Royal Tool wheel, and take a picture that has the snowman in frame. Successfully completing this task gets you a whopping 50 Tokens to spend in the event. This is a massive prize for a duty that requires fairly minimal work, so it's certainly worth tackling. If you still need more Tokens to claim the prizes you're after, there are plenty of other missions you can complete, like digging for special crystals underground, cooking a fairly fancy dinner, and selling snowman building material. 21. It's that time of year, everyone. Disney Dreamlight Valley's Winter events are back, with wrapping paper and festive fish making their grand returns. If you didn't get a chance to find these fish last year, you have another chance to in 2025. The Festive Fish are only around for a short time, so finding them while you can is crucial if you want to tackle all parts of the Gift of Giving event. Here are all the Festive Fish you can catch and where to find them in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Table of contentsAll Festive fish locations in Disney Dreamlight ValleyHow to complete Even Fish Are Festive in Disney Dreamlight ValleyAll Festive fish locations in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid Disney Dreamlight Valley's 2025 Gift of Giving event features five festive fish you can find. You'll catch each fish by visiting certain biomes and looking for the special red and green circles in the water. Two of the fish featured in this event can only be caught under certain conditions, while the rest can be found at any time. Be sure to avoid the regular white, orange, and blue bubble spots, as they will always give you normal fish instead. Below is every festive fish and the locations you can visit to find each one. FishLocationFestive BassPeaceful MeadowFestive FuguDazzle Beach (Raining)Festive SquidGlade of TrustFestive SalmonSunlit PlateauFestive AnglerfishForgotten Lands (6pm to 5am) Rather than fishing in white, blue, or orange circles like usual, you'll need to look out for sparkling red and green spots in the water. Aside from the changed color palette, the appearance and minigame that follows is the exact same. Screenshot by Destructoid Nonetheless, you're not guaranteed to find a fishing spot every time you check one of these biomes. They're not as rare as the Here and There fish, but they're still tough to encounter sometimes. If you're having trouble finding each fish, catch some from other circles and wait for more to respawn before repeating the process. Eventually, one of the circles will be red and green, signaling you're about to get your first festive fish. The two toughest fish to find are the Festive Fugu and the Festive Anglerfish. For the Fugu, you'll need to fish at Dazzle Beach while it's raining. Weather is unpredictable and random in DDV, so you'll just have to hope luck is on your side with this one. For the Anglerfish, you must venture into the Forgotten Lands in the evening or very early morning within the small window of between 6pm and 5am. How to complete Even Fish Are Festive in Disney Dreamlight Valley To complete the Even Fish Are Festive duty in DDV, you need to catch all five Festive Fish. This is a decently tough task, as two of them are fairly difficulty to find since you have to wait for certain weather and fish within a specific timeframe. Successfully finishing this task unlocks a Santa Hat you can wear to match the Festive Fish. It's a pretty fun item, especially if you enjoy holiday clothing and decorations, so be sure to earn it while you can.
