  2. I’ve always loved the art of the Metal Slug series of side-scrolling shooters, so I’ve been keeping a keen eye on the fetching grid strategy antics of Metal Slug Tactics ever since it was first announced. For as long as I’ve been excited, I’ve also been worried. It’s been a polarising experience, like being alternately fed delicious sandwiches and those inedible rotlogs they sell at Subway. Still, I’ve remained cautious: is all this great pixel-art just a shroud pulled over a ***-hum tactics game to rescue it from naffness? It’s with this in mind I hungrily dove into the Steam Next Fest demo, as one might hungrily ***** into a bin to eat literal garbage if their only other option was Subway. 3. Rats are often overlooked as ugly pests, but they're smart, determined, and in Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter, capable of soulslike combat. This sequel to the beloved Tails of Iron has the rats taking on armies of bats, with the flying foes adding a new level of difficulty to the already tough fights. Think Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, but with a supremely stylish rodential twist. Read the rest of the story... 4. *****: The Dark Ages may not be out for another year at least but that doesn't mean fans can't take the game's coolest new ******* for a spin thanks to the infinite potential of mods. Serving as a fantastic appetizer for Xbox's June Showcase, the trailer for The Dark Ages includes a standout moment that sees The ***** Slayer equip a "Saw Shield" that's revved up and used to eviscerate a small army of demons. The ******* itself is impressive, allowing for quick charges, ranged ******, and damage blocking, so it makes sense that fans would want to try it early. View the full article
  5. I remember when Cities Skylines 2 was first being publicized, worrying that I wouldn't be able to handle the enormous amounts of financial responsibility. When the city building sequel landed, it brought a lot of challenges - the normal burdens of garbage disposal, road management, and sensible zoning - but I also felt like it was cheating me somehow, like no matter what I did, the Cities Skylines 2 economy was designed to unfairly catch me out. It's been one of the worst problems in CS2, besides performance - the economic simulation feels somehow broken, especially in regards to rents. But now Colossal Order has a big plan to fix things. 6. Netflix's animated League of Legends adaptation Arcane is getting a physical release, and it's all thanks to GKIDS. One of the most frustrating aspects of Netflix is that most of what it produces never releases on DVD or Blu-ray. It's obviously because the streaming service wants as many people to subscribe as possible, but it does make preserving certain series a bit of a ball ache. I do have some good news when it comes to physical media of Netflix shows, though, as GKIDS announced yesterday that it had acquired the global home entertainment rights to Arcane season 1. In a press release (via Polygon), GKIDS didn't offer too many details, but it did say it plans to release "a full product array later this year, ranging from digital to premium editions, including a 4K version exclusive to the home entertainment release." This is obviously great news for fans of the first season, as it means they can easily play it on loop without having to worry about having a stable internet condition, or, you know, paying for Netflix every month. In a statement, GKIDS founder and CEO Eric Beckman also said at the Annecy International Animation Festival "We are MONSTER fans of [Arcane]. Our team is having a blast collaborating with the creatives at Riot and Fortiche to put together an amazing package for the fans. This project was dreamt up on the lawn by the lake at Annecy, so we are extra happy to be able to announce this collaboration at the festival and true home of animation." 7. With the release of hotly anticipated Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree less than two weeks away, publisher Bandai Namco has reminded fans they need to get a move on and prepare for its launch by defeating one of the original game’s optional bosses. In a recent interview with ********* magazine Famitsu, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki said players access the DLC content when they've defeated Starscourge Radahn and then optional boss Mohg, Lord of Blood. Miyazaki revealed the entrance to the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is the withered arm hanging from the cocoon in the Mohg, Lord of Blood boss ****** area. Publisher Bandai Namco re-tweeted a post by streamer Cohh Carnage that highlighted that Steam achievements indicate the majority of Elden Ring players on Valve's platform have yet to defeat Mohg. Friendly PSA for all those looking forward to #ELDENRING Shadow of the Erdtree. You have less than 2 weeks to prepare! [Hidden Content] — Bandai Namco US (@BandaiNamcoUS) June 11, 2024 As Cohh Carnage points out, just over 60% of Elden Ring players will not be able to play Shadow of the Erdtree because they haven't defeated Mohg. It’s a similar case on PlayStation and Xbox, with around two thirds of players having ******* to defeat Mohg on each platform. Thankfully, IGN has a guide on how to prepare for the Shadow of Erdtree DLC. For more, check out IGN’s impressions of Shadow of the Erdtree, which launches June 21. This incredibly affordable INIU power bank is ideal for portable gaming systems like the Steam Deck or the Switch. It boasts super-fast charging capabilities, a robust battery capacity, and a sleek design. It's our favourite pick for portable gaming, and well worth it at such a discounted price. Taking your Steam Deck or Switch on the go is undeniably convenient. We've all experienced that sinking feeling—you leave the house in a rush, grabbing your phone or Nintendo Switch on the way out, only to find it lifeless when you try to power it up. If only we had remembered to bring a power bank. You'll need a top cable that's a bit longer to go with your new portable charger, so consider grabbing a 2M, 100w USB-C cable 2 pack from UGREEN for £5.94 (it usually goes for £10 so that's a serious saving as well). If you don't need as much wattage, consider the Anker 310 60W USB C Cable, available on Amazon for just £2.50. However, if you're purchasing power solutions for your Steam Deck, remember it requires at least 40W to charge properly—don't say we didn't warn you! These power banks are lifesavers, so grab one and never be caught with a ***** phone or gaming system again. Plus, with games like **** of War: Ragnarok coming to Steam soon, there are going to be some graphically intensive games to check out which will zap your power fast--best come prepared. For more gaming and everyday deals, follow @IGNUKDeals on Twitter/X. Can I Take a Power Bank on an Airplane? Additionally, each passenger is allowed to carry up to two power banks, each adhering to the 100 Wh limit. You must also carry your power bank in your hand luggage. But, it's also worth bearing in mind that each airline or country could have different regulations that you will have to adhere to, so it's always worth double checking before you arrive to the airport. 9. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Deluxe Edition is now available to preorder. That's quite the mouthful, but it's probably worth it. Deluxe Edition includes the game, Steelbook, FOX patch, "!" sticker, and character art for £89.99 (with free delivery from Amazon). But, it's only available in the ***. This seems like a fair trade, as those over the pond aren't able to purchase the recently revealed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Collector's Edition including that sweet terrarium. But, if you'd prefer to snag the Deluxe Edition while being in the States, then here's how you can do it. Amazon *** will happily ship the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Deluxe Edition to you, for a small fee, so if that's the edition you're most excited about, then place your order ASAP to avoid disappointment. Using the link below should allow you to place a preorder via Amazon *** and ship it to the US. Metal Gear Solid Delta was one of the many games to get a spotlight at the recent Xbox Showcase but, much to the disappointment of fans, a release date was not revealed with the new trailer then. But, GameStop recently tweeted a preorder link to Snake Eater, saying the MGS3 remake will arrive on November 17. The post has since been deleted. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is said to be a faithful remake of MGS3, so much so that Konami isn't even planning on recording new voice lines for it. Despite that, the Delta symbol in the name of the remake (stylized as Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater) is meant to highlight "'change' or 'difference' without changing structure," Konami previously explained. If you've been worried that Call of Duty ****** Ops 6 might require huge amount of space to install and play - say the 300GB listed on the Xbox Store over the weekend - then good news, it looks like it won't be that big after all. Yup, stop engaging in all of those debates as to whether the series being on Game Pass now is a good thing for Xbox or not in order to stop yourself from panicking, you can chill out now. This is because the figure of just over 300GB listed on those pre-order pages has now been identified by Activision to "not represent the download size or disk footprint for ****** Ops 6". So, no need to woory about having to have enough space for about six copies of the Witcher 3 - going off of that game's Steam space requirement listing of 50 GB. Read more View the full article
  15. Nintendo Switch users can no longer link the console with their X accounts. | Photo by James Bareham / The Verge As of June 10th, Nintendo has officially discontinued support for the Switch console’s integration with X (formerly Twitter), making it the last of the current-gen consoles to do so after Microsoft and Sony disabled their own access last year. The integration was removed as part of the Nintendo Switch’s 18.1.0 update, taking away the ability for users to link their X account with the console, or post in-game screenshots from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate directly to the social media platform. The removal of these features comprised the majority of the 18.1.0 update, which also includes some general stability improvements and ditches support for linking social media accounts via the Switch’s Friend Suggestions feature. 17. The Salvation’s Edge raid went down as the longest raid in Destiny 2 history, but it also showed one class being a “***** weight” throughout the raid. In a Reddit thread on June 10, a Destiny 2 player highlighted that Salvation’s Edge proved Titans need a buff to have the same impact while maintaining their class identity of punching stuff. “If Titans are going to be the melee class, then don’t nerf their melee abilities. Titans can no longer spam shoulder melees as a mobility tool, they can’t properly synergize with glaives, and every melee focus exotic has been nerfed to the ground,” they wrote. 18. ******** Squad Isekai, the upcoming anime that promises to put Harley Quinn and co in an alternate fantasy universe, finally has a release date. So far, this year hasn't been particularly good for ******** Squad as an IP, given that Warner Bros. has reportedly taken a $200 million hit with Rocksteady's ***** the Justice League. It's not necessarily all bad, though, as Warner Bros. Japan has finally confirmed that ******** Squad Isekai will be out later this month, with a three episode premiere on June 27. The series was announced last year, so the release date isn't all that surprising, though it is a touch surprising that it's been announced so close to the premiere date. But hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth as they say! For those of you over in the US, it's also been confirmed that the series will stream on both Warner Bro.'s own streaming service Max, as well as Hulu. Outside of the US it'll be appearing on a few different streaming services - France can watch it on ADN, Southeast Asia, Taiwan & Hong Kong can check it out on HBO GO, and it'll be available on Aniplus and Laftel in Korea. Oddly there doesn't seem to be any kind of announcement as to where you can watch it anywhere else in the world, or even just the rest of Europe, so keep your eyes peeled if your territory isn't listed here. 21. Resident Evil Village has sold over 10 million copies since going on ***** in May 2021, Capcom has announced. The game hit the impressive sales milestone three years after release, making it the fastest Resident Evil game to hit 10 million so far. Like its predecessor, Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village uses a first-person perspective but with the option for a third-person perspective. Protagonist Ethan Winters explores a ********* village while going up against werewolf-like Lycans in more action-oriented gameplay. Village’s success was in part fueled by the breakout popularity of character Lady Dimitrescu, who Capcom leaned into for marketing. IGN’s Resident Evil Village review returned an 8/10. We said: “Resident Evil Village is a genuinely engrossing and increasingly combat-heavy continuation of the Ethan Winters story.” Sales were boosted by the release of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which includes the main game and additional story content, and expanded support for devices such as iPhone 15 Pro, Capcom said. Village sells approximately two million copies each year even now, helping it to become the fastest to 10 million in the series. Village is the third best-selling Resident Evil game of all time, behind only the Resident Evil 2 remake (13.90 million) and Resident Evil 7 biohazard (13.30 million). Total Resident Evil franchise sales are now 157 million units. Thoughts have now turned to what’s next in the Resident Evil franchise. IGN understands recent reports of Zero and Code Veronica remakes being in development are accurate. The inevitable follow-up to Resident Evil Village, called Resident Evil 9 by the community ahead of an announcement, is also waiting in the wings. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN.
