Prytania Media The grim cadence of video game layoffs continues apace, but this latest news comes with a strange twist. Prytania Media has shut down studio Possibility Space effective immediately. In an email to employees reproduced on social media by Polygon reporter Nicole Carpenter, Jeff Strain, Prytania’s co-founder, seemingly attributed the closure to an as-yet unpublished article from Kotaku reporter Ethan Gach. Strain wrote that he received questions from Gach regarding an upcoming article and that some of those questions pertained to a not-yet-public project codenamed “Vonnegut.” According to Strain, after receiving questions on Vonnegut, he had an emergency meeting with its publishers wherein it was decided that the publisher would cease... Though Square Enix has not publicly shared details about the next part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, the development team has provided some new insight through the game's companion books. On X/Twitter, user @aitaikimochi posted information found in the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Ultimania book. It apparently reveals that the main story for part 3 of Final Fantasy VII Remake is finished, and Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura aims to start voice recording "shortly." #FF7RUltimania FF7 Remake Part 3 main story has already been completed, and Nomura thinks they will perhaps start voice recording in the near future. He remarks that Kitase proposed an idea to him about “something” very important to include, even though it wasn’t in the… [Hidden Content] — ☆オードリーAudrey☆ (@aitaikimochi) April 12, 2024 Interestingly, @aitaikimochi also flagged that the book revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase hopes that Part 3 will ship in three years. "Kitase mentions FF7 Rebirth was done within three years since about one year was developing the DLC," @aitaikimochi wrote. "[A]nd he hopes to be able to stick with that schedule for Part 3 too." If the development team manages to ship out Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 in three years, it will set the release window for 2027. This would be impeccable timing for the third and final part of remaking the iconic PlayStation title, primarily because 2027 will mark 30 years since the original Final Fantasy VII was released. We already know that Square Enix began work on the conclusion after Nomura revealed in a statement posted on X/Twitter that "some development" had already begun for the final part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. In our review of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which we awarded a 9 out of 10, IGN wrote: "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth impressively builds off of what Remake set in motion, both as a best-in-class action-RPG full of exciting challenges and an awe-inspiring recreation of a world that has meant so much to so many for so long." Mere weeks away from the Apex Legends Global Series Split One Playoffs in Los Angeles, MoistCr1TiKaL has announced Moist Esports will drop their ALGS roster in order to let the players compete following yet another ******* attempt to get them U.S. visas. Two of Moist’s three pro Apex players are ***********, and according to MoistCr1TiKaL, they wouldn’t be allowed to enter the country at all if still applying for a visa under Moist’s name. As such, the org is releasing them so that the two Aussies, Ben “Wxltzy” Walton and Matthew “Emtee” Trengove, can enter the country as individuals and still compete with their ********* teammate, Zachary “Gild” Dennis. In his video on the subject, MoistCr1TiKaL absolutely blasted the U.S. immigration officers handling the team’s case, who he believes are the sole reason for the team’s continued denials. It wasn’t our favorite fitness tracker at $150, but the Fitbit Charge 5 is a looker at $75. | Image: Fitbit With nearly a third of 2024 behind us now, you might think it’s out of season to talk about resolutions and fitness goals. But for me, the renewal of the Earth’s vegetation and the prospect of pool parties encourages me to get out and move after a cold, muggy winter. If the same is true for you, a fitness tracker can be a great motivator that can help you chart your progress. Thankfully, Walmart is currently selling the Fitbit Charge 5 starting at just $75, which is 50 percent off and easily one of the best prices we’ve ever seen. We weren’t big fans of some of Fitbit’s design choices for the last-gen Charge 5. The biggest offender was its lack of a physical navigation button, which made using the finicky touch-based user interface more... Continue reading… View the full article

Enlarge (credit: SOPA Images / Contributor | LightRocket) Epic Games has filed a proposed injunction that would stop Google from restricting third-party app distribution outside Google Play Store on Android devices after proving that Google had an ******** monopoly in markets for Android app distribution. Epic is suggesting that competition on the Android mobile platform would be opened up if the court orders Google to allow third-party app stores to be distributed for six years in the Google Play Store and blocks Google from entering any agreements with device makers that would stop them from pre-loading third-party app stores. This would benefit both mobile developers and users, Epic argued in a wide-sweeping proposal that would greatly limit Google's control over the Android app ecosystem. US District Court Judge James Donato will ultimately decide the terms of the injunction. Google has until May 3 to respond to Epic's filing. I've seen some pretty small mechanical gaming keyboard designs in my time, but this one goes a big step further than even the smallest 60% designs out there. With just three mechanical keyswitches, plus a control dial, you won't be able to type out the complete works of Shakespeare on this cute little bar of keys, or at least not very quickly, but you could play a round of Tetris with it. The aptly named XYZA TinyKeyboard Custom 2.0 is unlikely to be listed among the best gaming keyboards any time soon, but its genuine mechanical switches certainly make it an interesting piece of PC hardware.
