  1. The MEG Trident X2 is a long-running line of gaming PCs from MSI that's available in a range of configurations, all based on a mid-size tower case with an aggressive angular design. The MSI MEG Trident X2 14th gen is the latest update to that case design, with a touchscreen on the front and a new range of current top-end hardware, including Intel's latest 14th gen Core processors. The configuration we're reviewing includes an Intel Core i9-14900KF and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, making this MSI machine comfortably the most capable gaming PC we've yet reviewed. That's not all that's required to secure a spot on our best gaming PC guide, though, so let's see what else this PC has to offer. Read the rest of the story... 2. Like so many, I've been longing for a sequel to the excellent L.A. Noire. Sadly, Rockstar Games is unlikely to revisit it as it puts the finishing touches on GTA 6. There's hope on the horizon, though, as Shadows of Doubt is the detective game you've been waiting for. Following its growing fanfare on other platforms, Shadows of Doubt PS5 and Shadows of Doubt Xbox versions are finally in the works. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

  4. Feeding in League of Legends is probably a term every player dreads, as the match quickly becomes one-sided when you realize the opponents can always rely on their heavily fed player to give them a significant advantage in teamfights. Being a jungler in low Elo, my biggest nightmare is to land in a League game where I find teammates who unintentionally feed ****** champions, spam ping my location to get my help, and shove the ****** in their lanes. But the gank usually just donates more ****** to the ****** champion because they’re untouchable. View the full article
  5. April 12, 2024: With the launch of the Fallout TV show, we're taking a trip down memory lane to reshare some of our classic Fallout coverage. This post was originally published in October of 2017. Tim Cain was at PAX when he first saw Vault Boy as a living, breathing entity - it was a cosplayer of 16 or 17 years old, hair gelled to replicate that distinctive swirl. 'This is weird', he thought. Feargus Urquhart remembers walking into Target and seeing that same gelled haircut and toothy smile, not on a fan this time, but emblazoned across half a meter of cotton. 'How is it that a game that we all worked on somehow created something iconic?', he wondered. 'How did it show up on a t-shirt in a department store?' In the years since, Bethesda has taken Fallout into first-person, online, and the pop culture mainstream. Vault Boy has become as recognizable as Mickey Mouse. The series' sardonic, faux-'50s imagery now feels indelible, as if it has always been here. But it hasn't. Read the rest of the story... 6. From The Elder Scrolls Skyrim to Diablo 4 and Baldur's Gate 3, inventory management is typically one of the most time consuming and frustrating parts of many games. While the likes of Resident Evil 4 and its briefcase Tetris have found innovative ways to toy with the system, the next evolution looks to be coming up with smart ways to make sorting your loot both essential and enjoyable. Following the breakout success of Steam multiplayer game Backpack Battles comes Megaloot, a new roguelike game where meticulous loot management is very much the key to success. 7. They say you should never go back. Shouldn't return to things you once loved in another time and place as, chances are, the reality will not live up to the memory. Did I really love classic JRPGs in the 1990s? I remember that I did, with titles like Chrono Trigger, Suikoden, Secret of Mana and many taking up days of my life. But if I went back and played them today, in 2024, would my positive memories be tarnished? Were they really that good?.. Read more.View the full article

  11. Enlarge / Is a name like "Suyu" ironic enough to avoid facing a lawsuit? (credit: Suyu) [/url] Nintendo continues to use DMCA requests to halt projects it says aid in the piracy of Switch content. Discord has shut down the discussion servers associated with two prominent Yuzu forks—Suyu and Sudachi—while Github has removed a couple of projects related to the decryption of Switch software for use with emulators or hacked consoles. The takedowns are the latest aftershocks from Nintendo's federal lawsuit against Switch emulator Yuzu, which led to a $2.4 million settlement weeks later. Yuzu voluntarily shut down its Github page and Discord server as part of that settlement, though archived discussions from the Discord are still accessible. That settlement includes a section prohibiting the makers of Yuzu from "acting in active concert and participation" with third parties in the distribution or promotion of Yuzu or any clones that make use of its code. But there's no evidence that anyone enjoined by that settlement is actively working with Suyu or Sudachi on their projects. Read 6 remaining paragraphs | Comments View the full article
  12. A Starfield jump scare has shown the horrors that lurk in the Settled Systems. While Bethesda's sci-fi RPG does have plenty of action and exploration at its core, there are some moments of horror throughout the game, particularly when fending off some of the alien life forms across the galaxy. 13. Looks like Avatar has made its way to Fortnite. Rather than controlling blue people, you’ll be in control of one of the elements: Earth, Wind, Air, or *****. The elements add another layer to the combat that can be hard to counter. The Air Element can help you get around in the form of the Air Wheel. However, you can do some cool things with it like jumping long distances. To learn how to use the Air Wheel and jump in Fortnite, you should read this guide. Fortnite: How to jump while using the Air WheelUsing the Air Wheel has a learning curve to it, but once you understand the movements and their timing. 16. Helldivers 2 mission modifiers can provide an interesting way to shake up the challenge of fighting Terminids or Automatons, but they work best when the changes add to the thrill of the gameplay rather than enhancing tedium. Although finding the right kind of balance in a game that's intended to reward complex strategy and high-level play can be difficult, Helldivers 2 is generally good at landing in the sweet spot. It's not completely consistent, but one new Helldivers 2 Booster could help counteract a particularly frustrating mission modifier to keep the game as fun as always. View the full article
  17. Friends, there is trouble a-brewing down the radioactive watering *****. While Amazon's Fallout TV adaptation has launched to pretty positive verdicts, a contingent of Fallout players are up in arms over its portrayal of the Fallout timeline. In particular, it's being claimed that the show has written the events of Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas out of the canon, despite reassurances from Bethesda Game Studios design director Emil Pagliarulo. 18. Some of the folks who've been dedicating a good chunk of the week to watching some - or a lot - of Amazon's Fallout TV show, just as fans like you and me have, are people who've actually worked on the games. In fact, one of them, original Fallout co-creator Tim Cain, might have spotted a reference to that first game in the series that seemingly wasn't even explicity planned by the showrunners. Yep, amid the array of really interesting sets and dialogue exchanges you really should be paying attention to, the show might well have ended up with some little homages to the games that inspired it which weren't in the script. How? Well, thanks to some actors with a keen eye for improvising - the only question is what actually influenced that improv. In a new video on his very good YouTube channel that sees him discuss the show, Cain talks about attending the big Hollywood premiere for it - his invite came via a casual email from Todd Howard, you know, like we all get on the regular. As he describes around the ten minute mark, while watching the first two episodes as part of that, the developer spotted something and was immediately pretty sure he knew where it'd come from. 20. Image: Nintendo In 2015, Nintendo released Super Mario Maker for the Wii U, a game that allowed players to make and share their own 2D Mario levels. In 2021, the company ended the ability to upload courses, the game having been eclipsed by its sequel on the Switch. But in January 2024, Nintendo announced an end to all online services for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games on April 8th. For Super Mario Maker, that meant the millions of player-made levels would be unceremoniously shuttered. Or at least, it would have been unceremonious, if it weren’t for a group called Team 0%. The group had been trying to beat every uncleared level in the game for years, which was made easier once they had a fixed target in 2021. When the announcement came that the Wii U’s... I'm just popping out to Dépanneur Nocturne, a lovely little game which came out in 2020 and I kept forgetting to post about. And it'll only cost you about as much as a pint of semi-skimmed and loaf of Kingsmill from your own local shop. Read more View the full article
  24. There are some advantages to being a medieval peasant. Twitter hasn't been invented yet, for instance, so your exposure to the worst opinions in the world is pretty limited.
