  1. The latest Helldivers 2 patch features what looks like a massive buff to ****** patrols for teams with less than four players, and Arrowhead Game Studios shared more insight regarding the change. Initially, the Helldivers 2 patch notes stated “patrol spawning has been increased when there are fewer than 4 players” and that full teams shouldn’t notice any changes, while the most noticeable change is for solo players. Helldivers didn’t take this buff lightly, as playing the game solo is already challenging. In a Reddit post on April 29, an associate community manager from Arrowhead shared clarification from the design director regarding the change. View the full article
  2. Real-world crossovers have become somewhat of a staple in recent years, not least thanks to Fortnite. Despite being tailor-made for it, Clash of Clans has never included a celebrity as a character—until now. The final result is a hauntingly accurate depiction of Erling Haaland. Soccer superstar Erling Haaland is breaking new ground by becoming the first real-life person to have his very own Clash of Clans character. The most polite description we can give for his model is memorable. We’re sure Haaland is aware of his facial features’ uniqueness, but they are somehow enhanced tenfold in the Clash of Clans engine, resulting in proper nightmare fuel upon close inspection. 3. If the launch of Manor Lords has proven one thing, it's that some games are worth the wait. We've had a blast with Armored Core 6. Upcoming shooter Mecha Break looks fantastic, too. A combination of FromSoftware's beloved mech game and JRPG classics like Final Fantasy, this is overhauled, remade, and relaunched for Steam, and it's available to play today. 6. Though Fallout 76 and Starfield may be completely different games, one scary monster noticed in each may be the connection Bethesda fans have been looking for. Bethesda is known for its open-world RPGs even though some have had roller-coaster success in recent years. Meanwhile, the recent live-action Fallout show received mass acclaim and has helped propel sales of the franchise's games. Along with the show, next-gen updates were given to Fallout 4, which even included some new content for players to enjoy. View the full article
  7. So, you’re finally approaching the end of your journey through the Commonwealth—or maybe you just want to make sure you make the right choices when you get there. Either way, Fallout 4 keeps up the series’ tradition of offering multiple endings. Mercifully, Fallout 4 doesn’t reduce the ending choice to a binary button press at the end of the storyline (we’re looking at you, Fallout 3), but instead has you lean toward one faction or another over the course of the game. While this means the story’s ultimate conclusion feels more natural, it also means the criteria for reaching certain endings aren’t the clearest. We’ve broken down every ending and its requirements below to help you get the most satisfying conclusion to your Sole Survivor’s story. View the full article

  9. The team over at Paradox Tectonic has announced that its upcoming life simulator Life by You will be launching into Early Access on June 4 this year — and, if that sounds like something you've heard before, it's because we've actually known the date for a couple of months already! If you're wondering why a studio would go out of their way to re-announce something it already said — and relatively recently, too — the answer ***** between the lines of the press release. What they've actually said is that "Life by You is ready for early access" (emphasis mine), and the intention is probably to differentiate this from the last two early access releases for the game, which caught delays. The highly touted Sims-alike was originally announced in March 2023 for a mid-September early access release the same year, only to be pushed back to March 2024 at the end of July. Then that March date was put back again to June 4 in early February of this year. Both of these delay announcements came around five or six weeks before the intended launch which — oh look, is just about where we are now! So, it seems like Paradox Tectonic just wants to reaffirm that we should keep that date seriously cleared on our calendars, after its last couple of rain checks. Read more View the full article

The action RPG has just entered the first stages of Version 4.6, a bulky patch that brought forth a load of playable content. 17. If you're absolutely horrified by CGI apes, a bonus feature on Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' physical release might be for you. It might be 13 years old, but to this day I think 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes has some of the best motion-capture acting and CGI apes around. They're looking equally good, if not better, in the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Understandably though, they might venture a little bit into uncanny territory for some people, so it's possible they might be giving this one a miss. But I've got good news for you with this latest sequel! In a recent interview with the YouTube channel Ape Nation (yes, it's actually called that), director Wes Ball spoke of the film's eventual physical release, and specifically of one bonus feature it will include. "I'm doing a little thing for the DVD where you can watch the entire movie with the raw dailies," Ball explained. "You'll see how close they get and what they do and how they stitch everything together. It's amazing!" What that means is, it'll be all of the footage without any post production effects ***** over the top, meaning it'll just be actors wearing mo-cap suits, so presumably there'll be nary a CGI ape in sight. It's a cool sounding behind-the-scenes look at how a film gets made, and it's great for people who seriously struggle with the uncanny valley! Read more View the full article
  18. The debate on whether sticking the word ‘space’ in front of something instantly makes it better rages eternal with the heat of a thousand space-air fryers, but the yaysayers are at least victorious in the case of retro-futuristic RPG Beyond Galaxyland, in which turn-based combat is aided by your pal ***** *****, who is a space hamster with a **** and a little waistcoat. I like this creature , but honestly, you could replace them with a sentient bin bag, and I’d be happy. 23. Whenever Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead releases a big balance update for the PC and PlayStation 5 co-op shooter, the community debates the various nerfs and buffs as it gets to grips with the evolving meta. After this week’s release of patch 01.000.300, which tweaked a long list of weapons, stratagems, and enemies, the debate was especially vociferous. A change to the beloved Quasar Cannon is but one that has led to claims that Arrowhead has nerfed fun out of Helldivers 2. The game’s Discord and subreddit are especially spicy as Arrowhead community managers address concern about nerfs even as they point out that in reality, the patch made significant buffs to a number of key weapons. The Adjudicator, for example, has enjoyed a meaningful buff, as has the Punisher Plasma, and the Counter *******. The regular Guard Dog and the Railgun also got some love. Other weapons were rebalanced with a combination of buffs and nerfs. As the row over Helldivers 2’s apparent nerfs continues, Arrowhead has addressed another aspect of the patch that has drawn controversy: patrols for solo players. In the patch notes released this week, Arrowhead said patrol spawning was increased when there are fewer than four players. The fewer the players the ******* the change. For four-player missions there is no change compared to before. But “the biggest noticeable change will be for solo players at higher difficulties.” Essentially, Helldivers 2 is now tougher for teams of three players and less, and much tougher for solo players. Helldivers 2 is designed to be played co-op, ideally in squads of four, but of course sometimes that’s not possible, and indeed there are plenty of players who prefer to play solo, challenging themselves to complete missions on their own and on the toughest difficulties even though Helldivers 2 can be incredibly difficult played this way. Following the release of the patch, Arrowhead released a statement attributed to design director Niklas Broström, who explained that this change was about righting a prior mistake. "We unintendedly had non-linear scaling of the patrol spawns so they didn't spawn as often as they should have when less than four players,” Broström said. “The intention is that one player has 1/4th of the patrols compared to four players, but it used to be that they had 1/6th. “Scaling of patrol spawns was exponential before, and that felt good on four player lobbies but a bit too empty when playing with fewer players, especially when playing solo. So now we made the scaling of patrols to be linear, which means if you play solo you will get 25% of the patrols compared to a four-player lobby instead of having about 17% of the patrols. There is still a cap of patrols that can spawn at the same time so during situations when we spawn a lot of patrols, such as extractions, even solo players won't notice the difference. The change is made to make the world feel less empty for one and two-player lobbies, especially on high difficulty missions which was also slightly too easy for solo players compared to our intentions. “Hope this clarifies the change for everyone - we're not making the game arbitrarily *******!” “Hope this clarifies the change for everyone - we're not making the game arbitrarily *******! So, it turns out, Helldivers 2 was unintentionally too easy for solo players, and now it’s at the difficulty Arrowhead always intended. The patch reaction doesn’t end there. There’s also a debate about a significant change to ricochet: “Shots that ricochet from heavy armored enemies will now properly hit the Helldiver who fired them. Trigger discipline is highly recommended.” After the patch: The New Ricochet System Sucks Eys-Beowulf | #Helldivers2 [Hidden Content] — Helldivers 2 Media (@Helldiversmedia) April 30, 2024 Players are now reporting getting ******* more often by shots that ricochet, but there appears to be confusion about just how much of an issue this is. Clips are doing the rounds on social media that appear to show players suffering embarrassing deaths at the hands of their own ricocheting projectiles, but some have suggested there isn’t a big change here. The prevailing theory is that the patch has made it so the player now takes damage from their own bullets when ricochet occurs, compared to the pre-patch situation where they were immune. ****** by ricochet ******** a rare occurrence. 24. Hello. Helldivers 2 gots a rather beefy new patch yesterday, and now people can't seem to stop finding ways to accidentally defeat themselves in battle. What's to blame for this sudden rise in rather hilarious mistakes? Well, a change to how bullet ricochets work seems to be drawing the majority of the ire. Yup, while there's some of the usual unhappiness about the nerfs that came as part of the patch's array of balancing changes to weapons, which were admittedly outnumbered - or at least equaled - by the amount of buffs on offer, the big backlash this time is related to what bullets do after they leave your ****. That being, in a lot of these recent cases, casually pinging straight back into the body of the helldiver that fired them. So, as a bit of context, one of the changes Patch 01.000.300 enacted is this: "Shots that ricochet from heavy armored enemies will now properly hit the Helldiver who fired them." The idea behind looks just to be focing folks to be a bit more disciplined with their *****, since they'll now be at risk of the consequnces. Read more View the full article
