Epic Games has announced plans to bring back the iPad version of Fortnite, but it will only be available for countries in the ********* Union (EU). In a post on X/Twitter, the Epic Games newsroom announced that EU Fortnite players who miss playing the free-to-play battle royale natively on Apple's tablet will soon be able to play it again. The statement follows a recent announcement by the ********* Commission that it now requires Apple to have iPadOS comply with the same rules iOS must abide by as part of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Epic had already said it planned to bring the iOS version of Fortnite back to the EU App Store thanks to the DMA. This comes as part of a wider effort to launch the Epic Games Store on Android and iOS in the EU, with Epic boss Tim Sweeney previously stating the company's ultimate goal is to become the "number one multi-platform software store, on the foundation of payment competition, 0%-12% fees, and exclusive games like Fortnite." At the State of Unreal event last month, Epic shared some new details on the mobile version of the Epic Games Store, revealing that mobile developers that use its third-party storefront would benefit "from the same fair terms" found on the main Epic Games Store. This includes an 88/12 revenue share, and developers can keep 100% of the revenue it earns by using its own payment system for in-app purchases. Fortnite was removed from all mobile devices nearly four years ago after Epic rolled out a direct-pay system in-game. The outcome resulted in cheaper V-Bucks for players; however, it violated Apple and Google's app store policies, with both companies removing the app from their respective digital storefronts. Shortly after Fortnite was banned from both app stores, Epic announced it was suing both companies, with varying outcomes. Since the removal, those who wanted to play Fortnite on the go but did not have a Nintendo Switch or a portable gaming PC like the Steam Deck were required to stream Fortnite on either Xbox Cloud Gaming or Nvidia GeForce Now. Epic has yet to announce a fresh release date for Fortnite on mobile. Taylor is a Reporter at IGN. You can follow her on Twitter @TayNixster. View the full article

It should go without saying that we all live in *****. A tin of beans costs £2, the Gulf Stream is giving up, and (worst of all) Blizzard wants $65 for a Diablo horse. If only we could return to those halcyon days before memory: The '90s. Things were simple then, with shared wares aplenty and an internet that was still young and warm and wild and free. Just imagine how many more microtransactions we could spring on those naive suckers before they cottoned on... Read more.View the full article

Razer, makers of various pretty good gaming peripherals and one deeply questionable face mask, have been slapped with a $1.1 million fine by US regulators after said mask was determined to have misled buyers over the amount of protection it afforded. Kotaku reports that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) took issue with Razer’s claim that the Zephyr, an RGB monstrosity released during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, could act as a medical-grade N95 respirator – it could not – and will allocate $1 million of that fine towards refunds for fooled, if colourfully illuminated, buyers. Riot has never been very empathetic toward the VALORANT community when nerfing agents, and it’s no different with the latest Patch 8.08, which nerfs one of the shooter’s best agents, Viper, to the ground. As expected, players can’t wrap their heads around the changes. After Riot announced the patch notes for VALORANT’s Episode Eight, Act Three on April 30, players wasted no time calling the developer out for targeting Viper so frequently and “unnecessarily.” From lamenting Viper’s supposed “******” in the meta to accusing Riot of “unfairness,” the fandom seems to firmly believe the nerfs went too far this time. Ok. So, yesterday Returnal developer Housemarque casually dropped a tease for a something to do with the game. As all teases of this kind must be by law, it was very vague, kinda artsy, and got lots of people talking about things that may or may not actually be a thing. Ok. Xbox has just confirmed its summer showcase, and it sure does look like it'll be following it up with a Call of Duty Direct immediately afterwards. As announced over on the Xbox Wire blog, Xbox will be hosting its yearly summer games showcase on June 9, 10am PT/ 1pm ET/ 6pm BST. As the post notes, "like our double-feature last year with Starfield Direct, immediately following the Showcase we’ll be airing a special deep-***** into the next instalment of a beloved franchise." The post is currently referring to this second presentation as a "REDACTED" Direct, except, it's almost definitely Call of Duty. For one, Gematsu made a nifty gif showing the Activision logo very neatly ***** over one portion of the screen that is redacted. And notably, The Verge says that according to sources that spoke with them, this Direct is in fact Call of Duty, so if you wanted to bet some money on it, you'd likely be placing a pretty safe bet. No word on what this particular Call of Duty title will be called, though a new ****** Ops title wouldn't be particularly surprising. The blog post goes on to say that this "will also be our first Showcase featuring games from our portfolio of studios across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda and Xbox Game Studios, in addition to titles from our third-party partners." As much as we like to cover the very (many) serious topics surrounding Blizzard’s Diablo 4, this story is not actually about the game, or even the Diablo series. If you play and follow Blizzard’s action-RPG series, you’ll have likely seen a few of the channel’s videos in your recommendation feed on YouTube. For the most part, the YT channel offers some nice insight into the development of the game, the usual run of trailers, as well as the occasional ***** into lore and story. Helldivers 2‘s most recent patch brought numerous balance changes and new mechanics to the game, but some have been poorly received. One such change was to ricochets, which now bounce into players instead of at an angle, and players are calling the devs to revert the change. An April 29 Reddit thread showed how the new ricochets work, with the thread’s creator posting a video of them ******* at the Spore Spewer mushroom, and the bullets immediately came back to ***** them in the head, ******** them on the spot. The intention of the new ricochets was to help Automatons as the update aimed to buff several ****** enemies, particularly the Hulks whose thick armor was not as effective as the devs would’ve liked. Instead, the change has caused bugs and unintentional interactions, such as players being unable to use the Punisher Plasma while carrying a Shield generator due to ricochet issues. There's a secret way to ***** the most hated Baldur's Gate 3 character, despite their technical immortality. Most characters, even some of the deadliest bosses, are mortal in BG3.
