  1. Bethesda fans won’t have to wait much longer before they finally get their hands on Starfield’s first expansion, Shattered Space, and there is even more content on the way, too. Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard updated fans wih more information on post-launch content during an interview with Kinda Funny. When talking about how Starfield will be fleshed out throughout the year, he teased that Shattered Space is scheduled to launch this fall. Details on Shattered Space remain a mystery, though some fans speculate that it will focus on House Va'ruun. In an interview with IGN last year, Howard promised plans to add “a lot of add-on content,” going on to suggest that the team was looking forward to fleshing out Starfield with future updates, too. In the near term, Bethesda is continuing to deliver smaller updates that should address fan feedback and iron out a few wrinkles. Howard says the next update should be “announced in a few days” before it’s available on Steam Beta. “It’s got some great stuff for ship building as well,” he added. Howard also teases another “big update” that is “coming really soon for Starfield.” Details on what changes it will bring are uncertain, though the Bethesda boss does tease long-asked-for tweaks for the in-game maps. "We redid the map stuff, so we have some city map stuff," he says. More info on the Starfield Creation Kit "soon" Elsewhere, Howard touched on the Starfield Creation Kit. Bethesda has offered similar creation tools in the past, allowing players to more freely mod their games and ensure long legs after launch. He didn’t go as far as to announce a release date but did reassure players that it is still on the way. “We’ve delivered it to some people, some of our creators for Starfield,” Howard said. “You’re going to hear some information about that soon. We don’t have date to announce on when its full release is coming, but it’s really, really important to us. Our modders out there have been incredible.” Bethesda brought Starfield to PC and Xbox Series X | S players last September. In our 7/10 review, we explained that we enjoyed the long-awaited space RPG but had a few gripes. “Starfield has a lot of forces working against it,” we said at the time, “but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist.” Bethesda has continued to churn out updates for Starfield since its launch. March brought a pair of worthwhile changes, including lots of quality-of-life improvements in Update 1.10.30 as well as the removal of the lockpicking penalty with Update 1.10.31. If the official updates aren’t enough to keep you satisfied until Shattered Space launches, you can check out one of Starfield’s DLC-sized mods. Michael Cripe is a freelance contributor with IGN. 2. No judgments, but did you binge all eight episodes of Prime TV's Fallout show as soon as they dropped? Fortnite's Battle Royale game mode was released in September 2017, and not too long after, it became available on mobile devices. To promote Fortnite's mobile version, Epic Games and Samsung joined forces in 2018 and gave away the Galaxy skin for anyone who played the game on a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. Many players ended up downloading Fortnite on their mobile devices, not only for practical reasons but also so they could check out the Item Shop or the Quests tab while away from their other devices. 9. Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most meticulously designed games in history. Its attention to detail goes so far that players are still discovering parts of it nine months after launch, such as how seemingly all characters have their own unique ways of casting magic and using abilities. These details were brought up in an April 29 Reddit thread discussing the game’s spellcasting and how it “has so much ***** detail packed into it.” The thread’s creator named only a few examples to prove their point, like Gale’s and other wizard’s perfect movements when using spells, showing their knowledge and control over magic. They also mentioned how all characters have unique voice lines for spellcasting, even those with few spells like Karlach and Lae’Zel. View the full article
  10. Bloober Team’s current annual report describes how the studio is really confident in what they are doing with the remake of Silent Hill 2. However, following the gameplay reveal, fans seemed less enthusiastic. After Konami finally revealed the first official gameplay, fans quickly responded, talking on social media about how the models and the title in general didn’t look up to snuff, with the animations on the main character seeming a little stiff. Other users said that the game looks action-focused with little survival horror—a major point of contention for such an iconic survival horror game. View the full article

  12. The most recent Helldivers 2 update brought significant changes to the game’s diverse arsenal of weapons, though not without some caveats. The Punisher Plasma now has a new interaction with the Shield generator of the explosive kind, and players are confused if it was added intentionally. The SG-8P Punisher Plasma ******* can no longer be used correctly if you have the Shield generator equipped. ********* the plasma with the Shield around you will cause it to ricochet back and explode, dealing significant damage, though not quite enough to ***** you. This was previously not the case, and seems to have become an issue since Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.300. The update introduced numerous changes to the game’s weapons and gameplay, and one tweak may have caused this strange interaction. 14. To paraphrase a certain guide to the galaxy which hitchhikers are fond of using, Starfield is big. Really big. Though to be honest it could be *******, and areas like plot and story are where could definitely see some expansion. 18. Christie Golden, a best-selling novelist who had worked with Blizzard Entertainment on dozens of projects dating back to the early-2000s, was ***** off by the company, she announced earlier today. Golden had been a core member of Blizzard’s story development team, where she worked on projects for multiple titles, including World of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Overwatch. However, it was within the WoW franchise that Golden found the most success among fans. Her credits at Blizzard included some of the earliest Warcraft novels, including Lord of the Clans and Rise of the Horde. Her character-focused novels in the late-2000s and early-2010s, such as Arthas: Rise of the Lich King and Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War were some of the most well-received books in the WoW chronology. 20. In a week where Escape from Tarkov dev Battlestate Games functionally pressed the self-destruct button on years of success and community goodwill with an insulting $250 package for an unfinished game, it's hard to imagine there being competition for the most unnecessary self-own in the industry. And yet: Bethesda Game Studios, riding high on a wave of goodwill for the Fallout series after the smash hit show, broke many of the mods in Fallout 4—a game that still boasts a colossally popular mod scene nine years on—in order to roll out a "next-generation" update that hardly changes anything... 23. A Stardew Valley fan is sharing their concept for a Joja mod that could add a lot to the current experience of siding with Joja Corporation. While Stardew Valley has always had an option for players who would rather side with Joja Corporation, the route has been criticized in the past, as some players have felt there isn't much incentive to do a Joja Corporation runthrough. While that might be intentional, mods can always help to change the experience in the more dramatic ways that fans are hoping for. View the full article
