Margot Robbie might be more focused on her work as a producer right now, but it looks like she's finding some time for her next role too. As reported by Variety, Robbie is apparently currently looking to star in an upcoming adaptation of Avengelyne, a '90s co-created by Cathy ********** and Rob Liefeld, the latter of which being the co-creator of the iconic Marvel anti-hero Deadpool. Robbie, if she joins the film, would be taking on the lead role of the titular character, a fallen angel that can use her blood as a ******* or miracle through quoting ****** verses. Yes, this does very much sound like a '90s comic, complete with an oversexualised design, though I'm sure a film version will shape up a bit differently. Warner Bros. is also apparently close to finalising a seven-figure film rights deal, with Don't Worry Darling director and Tron: Legacy actor Olivia Wilde on directorial duties, and Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Logan) as producer. Poor Things screenwriter Tony McNamara is also attached to pen the script. In a statement provided to Variety, Liefeld said, "This incredibly humbling journey to bring Avengelyne to life onscreen started through my relationship with super-producer Simon Kinberg who told me he had a perfect fit for the material and asked me to trust him. Yesterday, coinciding with the release of the Thrones of Decay DLC, Total War: Warhammer 3 jumped 90 places in the Steam charts, trailed closely by the three lord packs that make up the strategy game's latest expansion. Those lord packs are now the three top rated expansions in the series’ history, and the base game itself saw a huge uptick in positive reviews. The last day also saw a peak player count of around 66,000, putting it ahead of giants like Palworld, Rimworld, and Fallout 76. None of this would be especially notable, however, if this wasn’t a complete turnaround from how things have been for the best part of a year now. Read more View the full article
Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has issued a statement on recent changes to the way ricochet works in the game after members of the community pointed out one ******* in particular was ******** players more than it should. After this week’s release of patch 01.000.300, which tweaked a long list of weapons, stratagems, and enemies, a debate emerged about the state of ricochet. According to the initial patch notes: “Shots that ricochet from heavy armored enemies will now properly hit the Helldiver who fired them. Trigger discipline is highly recommended.” Players then reported getting ******* more often by shots that ricochet, but there was confusion about what exactly was happening. Clips shared on social media appeared to show players suffering embarrassing deaths at the hands of their own ricocheting projectiles, even from rockets and explosives, but redditor Zenbast investigated the issue and blamed it on the Eruptor. The Erupter is an explosive ******* that causes shrapnel, and, Zenbast found, it was this shrapnel that was ******** players, not necessarily ricocheting bullets. Zenbast suggested other weapons that have the shrapnel effect might have had a similar issue, but it was the Eruptor that was causing the most chaos. Now, Arrowhead has issued a follow-up acknowledging the issue with the Eruptor and announcing planned changes to fix it. The developer said it will completely remove the shrapnel effect from the Eruptor but increase its hit damage as a result. “This should make it less lethal to the operator but just as powerful against enemies,” Arrowhead said. “It should maintain its destructive power, and as it is still classed as explosive, it will not lose the ability to break objects, close holes, ******** fabricators, etc. This will, overall, be a buff to the ******* as shrapnel played an almost negligible part in the damage and power it dealt. Its AOE will be unaffected.” Arrowhead ended its statement by thanking the Helldivers community for working out what was happening. Here’s the statement in full: The teams have been hard at work testing a number of community issues today, mainly focused on the changes to ricochets and shrapnel. In response to a previous front page post we looked into the possibility of rockets and other explosives being affected by ricochets. This has since been debunked by the community, but nonetheless, our Ministry of Defense team also ran a number of tests today and confirmed that rockets and explosives are not ricocheting backwards. However, we have noticed another issue through these posts and community feedback that has identified the possibility for shots from the R-36 Eruptor to explode and rebound shrapnel at the shooter, which has a high enough damage value to instantly ***** the player. To prevent this, we're looking to completely remove the shrapnel effect from the Eruptor but will be increasing its hit damage as a result. This should make it less lethal to the operator but just as powerful against enemies. It should maintain its destructive power, and as it is still classed as explosive, it will not lose the ability to break objects, close holes, ******** fabricators, etc. This will, overall, be a buff to the ******* as shrapnel played an almost negligible part in the damage and power it dealt. Its AOE will be unaffected. Currently, with the systems in place, only small arms should be able to ricochet on armor. If you see an explosive VFX at the point of impact, the projectile is not causing a ricochet, as ********** effects are not triggered when a ricochet occurs. Shrapnel, however, can still explode outwards from the point of impact and ***** the player. We apologize for this misunderstanding and thank you all for investigating these new changes so diligently, and for passing on your feedback to us. Hopefully this makes sense and these changes should help everyone survive better! This week, Microsoft announced the timing of its Xbox showcase event in June as well as a follow-up Direct for a mystery game that looks like a clear tease for the next Call of Duty. This year’s mainline Call of Duty is reportedly a Treyarch-developed ****** Ops game set in the Gulf War. Some had even thought it might be called Call of Duty ****** Ops Gulf War, following the naming convention set out by the previous ****** Ops game, Call of Duty ****** Ops Cold War. However, following Microsoft’s tease, eagle-eyed Call of Duty fans are giving the image included the zoom and enhance treatment, and believe the redacted section conceals the words Call of Duty ****** Ops V. We’re going to be talking about games of course Tune in to the Xbox Games Showcase followed by [REDACTED] Direct on Sunday, June 9 @ 10am PT: [Hidden Content] | #XboxShowcase [Hidden Content] — Xbox (@Xbox) April 30, 2024 As many fans have pointed out, you can almost make out the ‘OPS’ from ****** Ops in the redacted section in the bottom of the image. The suggestion is the spacing only makes sense if the words are ‘****** Ops V’, not ‘Gulf War.’ Why the V, specifically? It’s all in the pixels, fans believe. Actually, the single pixel to the right of the blacked out part of the image. Would it be more of a bar if it concealed a ‘5’ than a ‘V’? Some fans believe so. ****** Ops V only seems suitable ;) [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] — ******* (@Deziah) April 30, 2024 Here’s some better versions made by @omgFawzi that give a better look at what BO5’s teaser should look like uncensored [Hidden Content] — Forward (@ForwardLeaks) April 30, 2024 If the game is called ****** Ops V, that would track with the roman numeral system used for previous ****** Ops games (bizarrely, Activision went with ****** Ops IIII for the fourth game in the series, as opposed to IV). ****** Ops V would also be a somewhat puzzling choice given it wouldn’t actually be the fifth mainline ****** Ops game, but the sixth. Perhaps Activision wants to lean more on the idea of this new ****** Ops being a fully-fledged sequel after veering into potential sub-sub-brand territory with Cold War. Perhaps the game spans more than the Gulf War, so using the name in the title wouldn't properly reflect its content. Or perhaps Activision feels like having Gulf War in the title of the game is a step too far, even for Call of Duty. Whatever the case, fans don’t have long to wait to find out, given the Xbox Showcase and the Call of Duty Direct are a little over a month away. Wesley is the *** News Editor for IGN. The Legend of Zelda movie director Wes Ball has said he's aiming for something a little more "grounded" with his adaptation than he first envisioned a decade ago. Now, admittedly, right off the bat when I saw Wes Ball, the guy behind the soon-to-be-released Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, say that he wants his Zelda move to be more "grounded" and "real" alarm bells went off in my head. You're telling me you want the series where its protagonist, Link, has been a furry, a painting, and a Deku scrub, to be grounded? But this is why it's important to read on a touch, as that's not exactly what he's getting at. Ball recently spoke in a brief interview with Polygon, where he was asked about his more than a decade old tweet about a hypothetical Zelda film, in which he said "Since I could never even hope to have the chance to direct it... the next big mo-cap Avatar-like movie should be... THE LEGEND OF ZELDA." Bear in mind, this was literally a month after the original Avatar released, so it's no surprise it was on his mind. These days, though, Ball is singing a different tune, saying that a completely motion-capture Zelda film "probably isn't his choice." He then went on to say he wanted the film to be more "grounded" and "real" so it more sounds like he doesn't want a bunch of CGI elf-like people wandering around green-screen sets. I'm hoping that means he's leaning more towards practical effects, a bit of a dying artform in a post-MCU world. Read more View the full article
While the likes of Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 are all well and good, after enjoying Amazon's Fallout TV show, a lot of us have been left craving a fresh Fallout experience - or even a new remake - to sink our teeth into. To its credit, while Fallout 4's next-gen update has fallen a bit flat, Bethesda does at least seem to be aware of the ******* for it to do a bit more with the series. Though, until it can find a way to up its output, mods will continue to provide plenty of Fallout stuff to look forward to in between entries - with one interesting project looking set to release its first demo this summer. Fallout: Vault 13 is, as you might have gleaned from the name, a modding project dedicated to remaking the very first Fallout game using Fallout 4's engine - seemigly in a pretty similar vein to the likes of Fallout 4 New Vegas (no prizes for guessing what that one's all about either). Following the release of a Shady Sands showcase video back in 2022, the project's team has been working on a playable demo, and has just provided a fresh update on it. Read more View the full article
A player-run troupe of actors will be performing an adaptation of Richard III in Fallout 76, featuring a "ghoul" in the lead role. They're partly inspired by the recent Fallout TV show, which puts a jaded cowboy ghoul in a pivotal role and has lead to an increase in players of the online multiplayer RPG. This production will likely be more faithful to the bard than to Amazon Prime. It will open with the lines: "Now is the nuclear winter of our discontent." Read more View the full article
We learned a bit about Deep Rock Galactic's upcoming Season 5 update a few weeks ago, and now we know a bit more thanks to a Ghost Ship dev stream. Not only has it gifted us details on the new mission type and the new season event, it's also given us an idea of when we might see Season 6 emerge. I suppose you could liken the stream to a bushy Dwarven beard, from which the devs pluck out announcements like it's show and tell. And the show and tell is set in a dingy mine. And there are multiple pints involved. Read more View the full article
The high-fidelity rustic hurly-burly of Manor Lords is all very well, but some of us yearn for a simpler and perhaps, more elegant age, when city builders looked like a bunch of copulating squares, and could run on PCs with approximately the computing power of a slice of bread (toasted, but not buttered). Step forward Mini Settlers, which has a free prologue version you might try if you're weary of Manor Lording, or you've already exhausted the play possibilities of early access Franconia. Bethesda has made Fallout 4’s free next-gen update available to those who received the game via PlayStation Plus Collection. Not all who received Fallout 4 via PlayStation Plus were able to upgrade to the native PlayStation 5 version for free when the update went live last week, sparking confusion among PlayStation gamers. Bethesda eventually made it available to those who have Fallout 4 via a PlayStation Plus Extra subscription, apparently leaving those who grabbed the game via the PlayStation Plus Collection promotion out in the cold. However, Bethesda has now made the next-gen update available to all PS Plus subscribers, including those who received Fallout 4 via the PlayStation Plus Collection. In a statement, Bethesda said this was always “intended.” “Thanks for letting us know that some PS Plus subscribers have been unable to access the free next gen update of Fallout 4 on PlayStation,” Bethesda said. “This issue has now been successfully resolved. Subscribers who have previously received Fallout 4 from the PlayStation Plus Collection should now be able to access the update as intended.” PS Plus Collection was a promotion that gifted PS5 owners who subscribed to PS Plus a number of PS4 games to play on their new console, including Bloodborne, Persona 5, and the aforementioned Fallout 4. It was removed from PS Plus in May last year. The Fallout 4 next-gen update has suffered a troubled launch, and the update that launched alongside it for the PC version of the game has had technical problems of its own. Xbox players found their version lacked the promised Quality Mode. Bethesda tweeted to say the next-gen update on Xbox Series X targets 4k and 60 frames per second in all modes, with Performance Mode “more aggressive in lowering settings to maintain this target.” The Fallout 4 next-gen update launched amid the breakout success of Prime Video’s Fallout TV show, but its release date scuppered the Fallout London mod, which relies upon third-party mods now broken following the PC patch. Following Helldivers 2's latest patch, players have suddenly found themselves being insta-******* by their own ordinance on a regular basis, something that they'd no doubt find quite funny if they weren't, you know, trying to score victories for Super Earth. While a change to ricochets that came as part of this latest patch - which also featured a pretty extensive array of balancing changes to weapons - was originally thought by many players to be behind this spike in self-shootings, Arrowhead's now revealed the actual cause. In a post on the game's official Discord server, community manager Spitz outlined that the studio has found the issue to actually stem from rogue shrapnel being kicked out by shots from the Eruptor - something a few investigative players had theorised might be the case. My Adventures with Superman is back later this month, and it's looking set to introduce a couple of classic comic characters. ****** Swim dropped a brand new trailer for My Adventures with Superman yesterday (easily the best on-screen version of the iconic hero we've had in many, many years), giving us a look at everything we can expect from season 2. It wasn't actually that long ago that we saw Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen, as the show wrapped up back in September, but as confirmed in the recent trailer, the show will be back on our screens May 25. The first two episodes will be premiering on ****** Swim on that date, but if you can't catch them live, you'll be happy to hear that they'll be available the very next day on Warner Bros.' streaming service Max. As expected of Superman, it looks like he'll be doing plenty more punching, flying, and whizzing around the place to save the people of Metropolis and those he cares about. Quite notably in the trailer, season 2 also sees the arrival of the villain who is easily Superman's number one nemesis, though in this case their rivalry is just beginning - Lex Luthor. You might not recognise him at first because he has hair, but I'm sure in time they'll make that boy bald, it's practically his destiny. Read more View the full article

Cypher received several ability nerfs alongside Viper in VALORANT’s latest update, but no one seems to be on board with the changes to his Spycam. Cypher and Viper mains took a big L to open Episode Eight Act Three, with VALORANT Patch 8.08 delivering a swathe of changes. While Viper’s nerfs impact all of her abilities (aside from her ultimate), Cypher’s nerfs weren’t nearly as lethal on the surface. First, his Trapwires now have a longer re-arm time, and the slow doesn’t last as long. This tweak is reasonable, considering how much stronger the sentinel became after those trips were buffed in Patch 7.09. You could definitely argue it was time for Cypher nerfs. View the full article
