John Romero, the renowned video game designer known for his pioneering work on the likes of *****, Wolfenstein 3D, and Quake, released a memoir last year that is now getting adapted for the silver screen. As reported by Deadline, two projects are in the works based on Romero's autobiography ***** Guy: Life in First Person. The first is a documentary created by award-winning ********* filmmaker Rob McCallum, and the second is a scripted drama series about the life and storied career of video gaming's original rock star. Naomi Harvey, executive producer of both projects under her Golden Possum Productions banner, said, "John's story is incredibly powerful—not just the part about the revolutionary games he created, but his profound impact on those around him. His story is one of triumph over trauma, filled with compassion and inspiration." It's an unbelievable rock n' roll, boundary-shattering, thrill ride. McCallum added: "Romero's journey is the missing antidote for all of us misfit toys looking for hope and kindred spirits in the darkness of the world. It's an unbelievable rock n' roll, boundary-shattering, thrill ride grounded in humanity, integrity, patience, and clever chess moves slathered in innocence, tenacity and pure coolness." Romero is considered by many as the godfather of the first-person shooter, having co-founded id Software and designed their early games, popularizing the genre. He was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in 2023 for his outstanding contribution to the video game industry. His autobiography, published in July 2023, chronicles a "difficult childhood and storied career, beginning with his early days submitting Apple II game code to computer magazines and sneaking computers out the back door of his day job to write code at night," according to the book's blurb, which calls it an "inspiring" tale. "Talking with both Rob [McCallum] and Naomi [Harvey], I knew they were the perfect team to bring ***** Guy to life," Romero said of the adaptations. "Our backgrounds and aspirations have uncanny similarities, and I trust them to tell the story." Adele Ankers-Range is a freelance entertainment writer for IGN. You can follow her on X/Twitter here. Community manager Chandler Wood previously took to social media to tell fans to "set expectations" for the update, which many hoped would be more akin to an expansion with a wealth of new content instead of just an additional collection of useful features and fun items. Those looking forward to Destiny 2: The Final Shape's launch on June 4, 2024 should perhaps stay off the internet for a few days as a mishap at PlayStation-owned Bungie saw the entire expansion release early and spoilers spread like wildfire. As reported by Eurogamer, dozens of players took to social media to share their shock and horror after discovering the highly anticipated expansion, set to be the grand finale in Destiny 2's so far 10 year saga, was available to play on May 29 after server maintenance. Those who chose to stream Destiny 2 instead of play a downloaded version, like Cupcake_0f_Doom on Reddit, were loaded straight into the new content. I tried loading it up tonight and at first I thought cross save was bugged and it wasn't loading up my account. "I tried loading it up tonight and at first I thought cross save was bugged and it wasn't loading up my account," they said. "It wanted me to create a new character. Then I noticed the title screen had been updated to The Final Shape. It looked like I was loading into a build of The Final Shape." The player got to try a few missions before the bane of many gamers, having to go to bed for work in the morning, got the better of them, but not before they shared their discovery online and riled up the Destiny 2 community. Bungie soon shut down the game's servers and thus stopped players exploring every inch of it, but players were still able to find and share myriad major points of interest such as story spoilers and information on its raid, trophies, loot, and more. Sony and Bungie have done their best to increase interest in The Final Shape ahead of its release, even granting access to three major Destiny 2 expansions (and four on PlayStation) for free in the month ahead of its launch. The Final Shape was due to arrive on February 27, 2024 but suffered a delay because it needed "more time to become exactly what [Bungie] wants it to be", according to the developer's official statement. The studio was hit with lay offs in October 2023, however, due to the underperformance of Destiny 2. This led to a "soul crushing" atmosphere at Bungie as employees said goodbye to around 100 colleagues and feared further job losses, rumored to arrive upon The Final Shape's release. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article

Both modes are playable either in single player or with a fellow Lampbearer in online cooperative multiplayer. The update also includes additional performance improvements." Players can find the modes through Lords of the Fallen's Vestige checkpoint markers, and conquering the Crucible mode unlocks rewards including Shrine Currency and exclusive new armor tincts. "We’re delighted to welcome the many new players exploring Lords of the Fallen‘s dual worlds for the very first time thanks to the game’s addition to the incredible Game Pass library," said Hexworks executive producer and head of studio Saul Gascon.
