Lightsabers, blasters, and Jedi robes are all important parts of the universe’s iconography, but Star Wars just wouldn’t be Star Wars without ships. X-Wings. TIE Fighters. The Millenium Falcon. Just a quick look at any of these famous spaceships conjures up daydreams of freedom and adventure among the stars. And so, unsurprisingly, spaceships are kind of a big deal for Star Wars Outlaws. “I've been a Star Wars fan for decades, and the space side of things is in particular quite important to me,” says Allen Frank, senior game designer at Massive Entertainment. “I grew up on games like X-Wing and TIE Fighter, Rogue Squadron.” With five distinct, deeply detailed open worlds to explore in Outlaws’ galaxy, you’d be forgiven for thinking the inky ****** space surrounding each of them would be a little empty in comparison. But Massive has applied much of the same design ethos that it uses planetside to the outer space regions. “There's a lot to do,” says creative director Julian Gerighty. “There's secrets to discover. There's exploration, you can scan for opportunities. And of course there'll be living world events or ‘living space events’.” In an effort to bring the galaxy to life, a variety of NPC routines will break out into organic events. A freighter may come under ******* from pirates, or the Empire may pull over a smuggling ship, and you’ll be free to intervene or stay back. Wrecked ships cast out distress beacons, but are they a source of riches or a trap? It's events like these that will fill out the vacuum of space between Outlaws’ planet surface gameplay. Between those moments, you’ll likely want to find a place to moor up, stretch your legs, and scout for new opportunities. That’s where space stations come in, which function akin to the cities you’ll explore planetside. “There'll be a cantina, there'll be a bar, there'll be people to talk to, there'll be opportunities, there'll be sabacc [playing card] tables, there'll be secrets, there'll be exploration,” lists Gerighty. There's secrets to discover. There's exploration, you can scan for opportunities. While outer space features some contracts and activities similar in scope to what can be accessed on the ground, Massive faced a distinct problem when it came to adventuring among the stars. “[Space in] Star Wars is a ****** space with stars, mostly,” says Benedikt Podlesnigg, Outlaws’ art and world director. “It's very hard to make something with that because there's no points of interest there.” The answer was to push the visuals of space in Star Wars further than we typically see in the movies and TV shows. Each planet had to be surrounded by regions of space that looked unique, which in turn would offer interesting gameplay challenges. “We have a ‘regulated space’, that's the space that the Empire controls, which is our ****** space with stars,” Podlesnigg explains. “And then we have our unregulated space, which is the dangerous part you see [around the moon] Toshara. You see the dust cloud, the debris field. If you go in there it's going to be more dangerous. It's not Empire controlled. You will not see big freighters going into those, but there's the pirates and so forth that might ******* you.” Surrounding the planet of Akiva is a dense asteroid field which promises its own challenges. Massive refuses to detail what surrounds the remaining three worlds in Outlaws’ galaxy, but promises each will “give some fun stuff for the players to do.” View the full article

Video game graphics have come a long way in the past few decades. The advancement, no matter how well-intentioned, had a significant impact on stories and characters and may now even put an end to the silent protagonist—at least, that is what Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii claims. In a July 22 interview for Denfaminicogamer, translated from ********* by Automaton, Horii spoke on RPGs, specifically his own Dragon Quest series, and the foundations they were built upon. He names the silent protagonist as a key element, which he describes as “symbolic,” one that is slowly ceasing to appear as video game graphics continue to improve. “If you make a protagonist who just stands there, they will look like an ******,” Horii explains, stating that developing this type of character will continue to be more challenging as graphical fidelity “evolves.” View the full article

However, installing it requires quite a few steps, so here is everything you need to do to download, install, and play the Fallout: London mod. Where can you play Fallout: London? Fallout: London is so big it can be viewed as a standalone title. Image via Team FOLON As things stand, players will only be able to install and play Fallout: London if they own a copy of Fallout 4 on either GOG or Steam. Epic Games owners will have to wait a little longer since the platform doesn’t support rolling back the game’s version. Fallout: London cannot be played on the next-gen version of Fallout 4, and thus cannot work on the Epic Games launcher. FromSoftware has announced that Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, has surpassed 3 million units sold, a fantastic milestone for a franchise that previously firmly existed in the ocean of niche video game franchises. The game is just under one year old by the time of this announcement, which certainly isn't bad pace for a new entry in a legacy IP. As for how this compares with previous games in the franchise, these stats are somewhat hard to track. VGChartz is the only website with figures for the majority of the franchise, and its stats show prior entrees have never breached the one million sales milestone. The closest was Armored Core 2 on the PS2, which apparently shipped roughly 790,000 copes in its lifetime. With that in mind, you can see how wild the sales for Armored Core 6 actually are. It's worth noting that back in October 2023, the ********* voice actor for Rusty announced the game had passed 2.8 million units sold, so the momentum has clearly slowed in the game's later months post-release. But even still, these sorts of games with a strong single player campaign and plenty of replayability have proven consistant sellers even years after launch, so one can expect this figure to slowly creep up in the coming months. I wouldn't expect it to pass 4 million, mind you. Read more View the full article

What are the Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 system requirements? The highly anticipated Space Marine 2 is almost here, and while the system requirements are set to push some older gaming PCs to their limits, we don't foresee any issues for newer gaming rigs and high-end laptops. You're unlikely to need the best graphics card on the market to play Space Marine 2, unless you're targeting 4K, 60fps gameplay. In Remnant 2, you must solve a few puzzles as you travel to different worlds. One of the many puzzles you come across is the Yaesha music box, which is broken when you first encounter it.
