  4. Back in 2021, developers Beethoven and Dinosaur teamed up with Annapurna Interactive to bring us The Artful Escape, a musical odyssey based around journeying through a psychedelic '70s rock universe as a budding musician crafts his persona. And now, as seen in the recent Xbox Games Showcase, the same developer and publisher are teaming up again to bring us Mixtape, another odyssey based around music, but with several different twists compared to its predecessor. For one, the setting is jumping ahead to around the late '80s/early '90s, as opposed to the '70s. And in contrast to the surreal alien landscapes of before, here the game is set in Northern California, focusing on a smaller tale between a group of teenage friends. That said, there's still a touch of fantasy here, as seen through the titular mixtape, and in the trailer at the link here. View the full article
  5. Diablo 4 players have today heaped praise on Blizzard for skipping the early access pass for Vessel of Hatred, the game’s first big DLC expansion, after many feared they’d go down that route again with special editions. When Diablo 4 initially launched, players were upset that only those with the Digital Deluxe Edition or higher were granted four days of early access. This meant players could experience new content sooner and gain an advantage. Many players found this to be a distasteful “money-grabbing” approach by the devs that only benefited those who could afford to fork out more cash. Surprisingly though, there’s no early access advantages in any of the Vessel of Hatred editions, and players are calling this a huge win. View the full article

  10. It's hard to believe that Thumper came out almost eight years ago. The game had been a staple of shows like PAX East for years before release, and when it finally came out it was even better and deeper than expected. The VR support that got added later improved the game even more, removing any lag a monitor could introduce while increasing the player's awareness of the obstacles coming down the track, plus providing a fantastic sense of scale to the proceedings. Thumper is a stone-cold classic, still feeling as fresh and dangerous today as the day it was released. Which is somehow almost eight years ago at this point, so it's well past time for a sequel. 23. Well, we knew in advance that Devolver Digital had one more game to reveal during the PC Gaming Show yesterday, one coming from Showgunners developers Artificer. And yet it still feels like a shock that what they revealed could best be described as one of the most Devolver titles possible. Again, look at the headline.
