  1. Following the release of The Final Shape, Bungie outlines where Destiny 2 is going in 2024 and beyond, outlining the next 3 content episodes and teasing what comes after. Excitement in the Destiny 2 community appears to be at an all-time high, as The Final Shape has finally launched after a big delay and, for most, it has delivered an experience worthy of capping off the journey to this point. Alongside a climatic final battle with The Witness, this expansion has added a wealth of content which aims to keep players busy well after the campaign comes to an end. View the full article

  3. Since it disappeared from Valve's platform in 2023, players have been eagerly awaiting the Dark and Darker Steam relaunch. As of Friday June 7, Dark and Darker is back not just on Steam, but the Epic Games Store as well, freeing the RPG from the dedicated Ironmace launcher which had previously been its only home. As part of the comeback, certain sections and components of Dark and Darker are currently free to access, but despite Ironmace's original intentions, players on Steam are sharing criticisms regarding the game's new free-to-sample model. In response, Ironmace says it has "*******" in anticipating players' expectations. Read the rest of the story... 4. The Acer Predator GM712 is a confusing product to shop for. At the time of writing, there are two GM712s - the slightly cheaper MR.JUX11.001 and the pricier, newer MR.JUX11.002 I'm testing in this review. The main difference is that the 002 offers variable refresh rate (VRR) which I'll get onto below. These two models are still available at retail stores simultaneously, and though the 02 is likely to replace the 01 entirely once stock runs out, the two products fall into different classes because of their prices. That's a shame because the GM712 in its 01 configuration is spot on. At under $1,000/£1,000, 4K with a 60 Hz refresh rate, fantastic ****** reproduction, and low latencies make it an incredibly appealing pick - easily one of the best gaming projectors. Especially for a pricing bracket that sorely needs some decent 4K gaming projector love. But what of the new GM712? Is it improved? I've tried it for gaming and streaming to find out. 5. This excellent deal is back and lower than before! Amazon is offering the powerful and high capacity Anker PowerCore 737 24,000mAh USB Power Bank for only $88.95, a massive 40% price drop from its original $150 MSRP. This is close to the highest capacity power bank you're allowed to bring on airplane carry-on, and it also boasts an absolutely massive 140W of USB power delivery to charge even the hungriest MacBook Pro. Anker PowerCore 737 24,000mAh Power Bank for $88.95 with 140W of USB Type-C Power Delivery The Anker PowerCore 737 can be used like any other power bank; it does a fine job of charging any of your standard mobile electronics. It has two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port. One of the USB Type-C ports is ***-directional, meaning it can be used to charge devices AND it can also be used to charge the power bank itself. The massive 24,000mAh is just under the TSA's 27,000mAh limit. I recently brought this power bank to a trip to Japan. At the security checkpoint it was removed and the wattage fully tested. It passed with flying colors and I was able to get through security with my power bank in tow. It can charge a Nintendo Switch OLED over 5 times, iPhone 15 Pro Max over 5 times, Steam Deck over 4 times, and an ASUS ROG Ally over 9 times. Note that because of the much larger capacity, this power bank is physically larger than your average power bank and weighs in at 1.4 pounds. What really makes special about the PowerCore 737 is its massive power delivery spec. The 737 is capable of delivery 140W of power output That's enough power to charge the 16" MacBook Pro laptop even while you're using it. That kind of power output is hard to find in a power bank and usually pricier. The Anker 737 is our pick for best Steam Deck / ASUS ROG Ally charger We picked the Anker 737 as our favorite portable charger for the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG Ally portable gaming handhelds. Portable PC gaming has never been better, but there's still a way to go when it comes to batteries in these incredible devices. Both the ROG Ally and Steam Deck suffer from a short battery life when gaming on the go. For instance, when playing most games at 60 FPS, you're likely looking at four hours of battery life, at most. During our review, we even found games like **** of War or Spider-Man would tap out in under 2-hours as well. At the end of the day, you'll never get the full potential out of your Steam Deck or ROG Ally if you're not equipped with a decent portable charger. 6. We've all got a game in us; a creation we've mentally put together over months or years that we're convinced would be the perfect addition to our Steam library.Well I've got an idea for a Warhammer 40k game, and I think it would be brilliant. A combination of Dawn of War, XCOM, and League of Legends: it's the videogame representation that Games Workshop's hobby deserves. My ideal Warhammer 40k game is free-to-play. Woah - don't leave yet! I know those words strike ***** and disgust into many, but the best hobby games are all free-to-play. Hearthstone, Dota 2, League of Legends; they're all about collecting things and using what you have to achieve victory. That's exactly what Warhammer is. And it'd be nice to have a F2P game that wasn't a MOBA, CCG, or MMO, wouldn't it? Read the rest of the story... 10. Enlarge / The "Xbox Series V" was a social media hoax, but the idea of a portable Xbox seems to still have legs inside Microsoft. (credit: Reddit) [/url] The extremely long-standing rumors regarding Microsoft making a portable game console got a strong shot in the arm over the weekend from none other than Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer. Speaking on stage as part of an IGN Live interview, Spencer said directly that "I think we should have a handheld, too." The comment stops just short of an official announcement that Microsoft is actively working on portable gaming hardware for the first time. But if anyone is in a position to make an "I think we should..." into an operational reality, it's Spencer. "The future for us in hardware is pretty awesome," Spencer continued during the IGN presentation. "And the work that the team is doing around different form factors, different ways to play, I'm incredibly excited about it." Read 5 remaining paragraphs | Comments View the full article

  14. Bungie revealed a look at some upcoming Destiny 2 episodes today, but it also offered a very vague tease for the future of the series. Destiny 2 received its latest expansion, The Final Shape, just last week, and to many it felt like a big ole send off to 10 years of Destiny. To that end, it also kind of felt like the end of Destiny in a way, though in a new video from Bungie earlier today titled "The Journey Ahead" Bungie offered a look at some of the upcoming content coming to the game. It was previously announced that following The Final Shape there would be three episodes, Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy, which each received a small look-in today. Echoes, the first of the three upcoming Year 10 Episodes, follow the first Echo players will come across, which landed on Nessus. This Echo has transformed the planet, and has caused the Vex to act strange. On the gameplay front, this episode is introducing a three player activity described as an "arena-style kind of offensive that we haven't really done before." Revenant, the second episode, will apparently be "very Fallen themed" with the video noting how they don't have a home anymore. This one is very dark fantasy inspired, apparently about "slaying vampires with a touch of splicer mixed in." You get to be a Slayer Baron, a "role reserved for the most renowned monster hunters." Some concept art for armour was shown off too, and there's one set that is so obviously inspired by Bloodborne, but I'm here for it personally. Read more View the full article

  17. AMD is reportedly planning to release its new lineup of Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs in September 2024, a few months after the first Zen 5 chips are unleashed, and this time the chip maker says its 3D V-cache is going to be "even better" than on its current lineup of X3D processors. The news comes after AMD officially lifted the lid on its forthcoming lineup of Zen 5 AMD Ryzen CPUs at Computex, which it says are going to be released in July 2024. AMD's 3D V-cache is used in the company's best gaming CPUs, which have the 'X3D' suffix at the end of their model names, and include a big helping of extra cache on top of the CPU cores. In our Ryzen 7 7800X3D review, we found that this tech substantially increased frame rates in some games, and it's hoped that the next generation of AMD X3D CPUs will be even better for gaming. 18. The reason I'm writing about a board game for a PC gaming site, and the reason I quickly feel comfortable playing it, are one and the same: it's a lot like Divinity: Original Sin 2. After a brief jaunt from PCGN house, myself and Carrie sit down at a table in a hotel basement, along with a few other pleasant folk from the local game press and Kieron Kelly, producer at Larian Studios. A character board ***** before us full of familiar icons in an unfamiliar context - I am a Rogue, and recognise that I am skilled in being a Scoundrel - and I have a deck of cards to represent my abilities. While the board game's mechanics are new, knowing what something does in the videogame makes the process of learning more like being gently lowered into them, rather than tossed into the deep end. 19. Bungie has teased Destiny 2 Codename Frontiers, coming at some point in 2025 during what will be the series’ 11th year. Teased at the end of a new video detailing what to expect from The Final Shape expansion’s upcoming three episodes was a solitary image, below. It reveals Codename Frontiers, which we know is due out in 2025. Bungie did not say anything else about this mysterious update, but with the codename Frontiers, some fans are already speculating that it may involve taking players to planets beyond the Sol System. Some had thought Bungie might have teased Destiny 3 based on tweets from one of its developers, but it looks like the wait for that game, should it exist, goes on. The Final Shape brings to an end the overarching Destiny that began with the first game in 2014, but it is not the end for the series. In Year 10, as Bungie calls it, three episodes will be released, each revolving around ‘echoes’ that spark significant change across the galaxy. The first episode is called Echoes and is set on Nessus, with a focus on the Vex acting up. Players end up unearthing the secrets of a lost civilization and face a new ******, although Bungie kept its cards close to its chest on this. The second episode is called Revenant and revolves around the Fallen. This episode has more dark fantasy themes, and lets the player become a Slayer Baron, aka a vampire hunter. This episode introduces a new system called Potion Crafting. This includes combat potions and loot potions. The third and final episode is called Heresy and revolves around the Hive pantheon. Heresy brings players back to the Dreadnought, the massive Hive spaceship introduced with 2015 expansion The Taken King. After a Destiny 2 clan completed The Final Shape raid last week, Bungie unlocked a final mission for all players that concludes the main Destiny story. In previous videos, Bungie developers have teased that The Final Shape is not the end of Destiny 2 or even the series, with the developer — now owned by Sony — also working on multiplayer game Marathon. For now, The Final Shape is going down well with fans, despite initial server problems Bungie ended up apologizing for. Check out IGN's The FInal Shape review in progress to find out what we think.
