One of the biggest points of contention for players going through Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has been the DLC's crushing difficulty compared to the base game. Enemies and bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree deal extremely high damage, and have ******* patterns that can be difficult to learn for many players, at some points even drawing comparisons to Malenia from the base game - certainly among Elden Ring's hardest bosses, and widely considered to be one of, if not the most difficult boss in any FromSoftware game. Elden Ring developers FromSoftware have heard the community’s cries that Shadow of the Erdtree is too difficult and are throwing a bone at the players, with Calibration Update 1.12.2 seeing buffs aimed at sweetening the Scadutree upgrade system. With Erdtree’s difficulty having dominated any discussion around the DLC, it’s no surprise that FromSoftware has decided that it was time for a “calibration update”, sending patch 1.12.2 live on June 24. With this comes a buff to Scadutree Fragments increasing the ******* and damage negation it provides. According to the 1.12.2 patch, ******* and damage negation have been increased for the first half of the maximum amount of Blessing enhancements, with the second half being more gradual.
