There's a new Wolf Man movie coming out soon, in case you forgot, and since it's directed by The Invisible Man's (2020) Leigh Whannell, we were kind of excited about it, but our (supposed) first look at the monster's design has left us cackling instead of terrified. Via X/Twitter user SpeculationMatt, who seems to specialize in covering Halloween Horror Nights (that's an interesting niche for sure), we've got our first look at Blumhouse and Universal's Wolf Man's wolfman, or at least that's what we're supposed to get from this marketing kickoff, right? As you can see, the costume seems rather cheap, but that's not the real issue, as we highly doubt they're just giving to performers exact copies of the costumes being used in film productions. What's worrying is the design itself, which has little-to-no wolf features in it. I mean, that's just an old guy turned into a background fantasy character freak. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm a more convincing wolfman when I've gone two months without visiting the barbershop and don't get my morning caffeine. Read more View the full article

Helldivers 2's third ****** faction is maybe definitely possibly probably almost certainly about to be released, as players report sightings of the mysterious menace on the game's Galactic War map. Development studio Arrowhead, aka the glorious government of Super Earth, are downplaying the rumours as usual. They're claiming (via in-game broadcast) that the fleeting appearance of a weird purple blob on the map screen is actually the result of fluids leaking from the corpse of a long-***** comms technician, stranded on a server farm somewhere. Who to believe? Ah, if only we had some means of shedding light on the reports. Some way of Illuminating the situation. Read more View the full article
Earlier this week, things were looking pretty bleak for folks hoping to play soulslike Enotria: The Last Song on Xbox when it releases on September 19, as its devs announced that the version of the game for that plaform had been delayed indefinitely. Now, however, Phil Spencer and co have reached out, and Xbox Enotria will be a thing "ASAP". If you're out of the loop, developer Jyamma Games revealed earlier this week that it'd had to abandon plans to bring the game Xbox as well as PC and PS5 at release, citing a "lack of communication" from Microsoft regarding the Xbox submission process as the cause. Now, the studio has tweeted that things are back on track. "We would like to officially thank Phil Spencer and his team for reaching out to us so quickly and hrelping to resolve our situation," Jyamma wrote, "We would also like to thank our amazing comnmunity for al;l the support show in recent days. Your voice has been heard loud and clear, and your commitment has been heartwarming. Read more View the full article

The new live-action Masters of the Universe movie has been in the works, in one way or another, for close to two decades, but with Amazon MGM Studios now teaming up with Mattel following the success of Barbie at Warner Bros. Discovery, it appears the project is finally moving forward. Now, Alison Brie's been cast in the major villain role of Evil-Lyn. The Hollywood Reporter shared this news, also pointing out that production might be starting sooner rather than later. The news arrives after The Idea of You's Nicholas Galitzine nabbed the protagonist part of Adam/He-Man back in May. The previous iteration of the project, which Netflix had been prepping for a long time, had the Nee brothers (The Lost City) guiding the project and Kyle Allen (West Side Story) announced to star in it as Adam/He-Man. After a full reboot of the project once it moved to Amazon, Travis Knight (Bumblebee) and his usual writing partner Chris Butler (Kubo and the Two Strings) took over directing and scripting duties. Given the source material, that's the kind of creative talent you want to get, but it ******** to be seen whether they'll be allowed to properly cook the stew. Read more View the full article

Bear with me on this, but I adore how swordfighting works in Dune. Ubiquitous wearable sci-fi shields repel any ******* that comes in too fast, so everyone has to learn this unique, overtly dance-like form of close-quarters combat where every thrust and parry is necessarily slow and considered. Picture it: careful judgments of your movements, weighing up the right time to strike, every measured jab part of a wider strategy that culminates in the *****. MOBAs are like that. Both in the fights themselves, sort of, where probing lunges lead up to bursts of lethality, but more broadly in each match as a whole. They’re map-wide ****** fights, where a thrust is a well-judged lane push and a parry a savvy item buy. At first, playing Smite 2 felt akin to watching on helplessly as my opponents repeatedly shoved their crysknives through my ribs. After 30 hours, it often still feels like that - but I am enjoying myself. Mostly. Despite Valve’s third-person elephant in the lane. Read more View the full article

Remember the Illuminate? Those alien lads from the first Helldivers that everyone was convinced would come rushing into Helldivers 2 through that ****** ***** the forces of Super Earth turned Meridia into a few months ago. Well, it looks like they’ve just briefly made a cameo on the game’s map. As spotted by players on Reddit, a section of the lower portion of the Galactic map briefly turned purple yesterday, suggesting that it was under the control of force which wasn’t the Automatons or the Terminids, before returning to normal. Naturally, folks could only come to one conclusion - the Illuminate popped in, and they’re apparently fans of hide and seek. Especially since at least one of the occupied sectors looks to have shown what looks a lot like the Illuminate’s logo when highlighted. Read more View the full article
Following the blockbuster success of Hogwarts Legacy, Warner Bros. is working towards a direct sequel, it has confirmed. Avalanche Software’s Hogwarts Legacy has sold over 24 million copies since going on ***** in February 2023, generating over $1 billion in revenue. It comes as little surprise, then, to learn that parent company Warner Bros. is keen on a Hogwarts Legacy 2. Speaking to Variety, Warner Bros. Discovery chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels said the sequel is due in a couple of years. “Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road,” Wiedenfels said. “So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here.” While Warner Bros. enjoyed a mega hit with Hogwarts Legacy, its gaming business has endured a tougher time this year following the disastrous launch of Rocksteady’s ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League. Soon after the game's February 2024 release, Warner Bros. admitted the ******** of ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League contributed to a $200 million hit to revenue. According to Bloomberg, staff at Rocksteady are currently working on a director’s cut of Hogwarts Legacy while leadership pitches a return to single-player following this live-service misstep. Rocksteady reportedly recently suffered layoffs. Despite these ups and downs, Wiedenfels said Warner Bros.’ games business, which also includes Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm, continues to be a “strategic asset” for the overall company. This week the publisher released Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, which is not connected to Hogwarts Legacy. It’s also operating Smash Bros.-style brawler MultiVersus, the VR-exclusive Arkhamverse game Batman: Arkham Shadow, and has a Wonder Woman game in development at Shadow of Mordor developer Monolith Productions.
