  1. Helldivers 2 is in a bit of a rough spot at the moment, mostly down to the ill-received Escalation of Freedom update which included a bunch of nerfs to fan favorite weapons. Arrowhead has promised it's gonna to work to improve the game based on fan feedback, and many are hoping that the imminent arrival of the Illuminate will breathe some new life into the game. 2. Although FromSoftware's latest release, Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, quite possibly represents the pinnacle of the Soulslike genre so far, I'd like the studio's next release to be a follow-up to Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, not another Soulslike. Starting with the release of ******'s Souls in 2009, FromSoftware has become best known for kickstarting the entire Soulslike genre, with plenty of other developers now trying to emulate the design and success of games like Dark Souls. Despite that success, though, I'd prefer for FromSoft to take a break from its signature genre. View the full article
  3. Nikhil Murthy's Syphilisation is a "postcolonial 4X game", which might sound like a contradiction in terms. While approaches to 4X and grand strategy vary hugely between games, factions and players, the genre as a whole is firmly wedded to imperial conquest, both structurally and at the level of narrative aspects and set-dressing. Many 4X games are triumphal re-enactments of specific periods of colonial settlement and expansion. All of which is to say that Syphilisation is fascinating. It's a reworking of the genre which dismantles and reconstructs concepts such as diplomacy, research and production. It's also just left early access - find more details and a playthrough video below. Read more View the full article
  4. Mojang Studios’ Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, so its no surprise it would eventually become a feature film. Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have finally released a teaser trailer for live-action/animated movie, and it’s… well, it’s something. The film, titled A Minecraft Movie, follows four misfits who feel like outsiders in the real world and find themselves getting sucked into the Minecraft universe. Faced with the prospect of taking on the various monsters of the Overworld, the four recruit the help of a builder named Steve to help master the ways of crafting and embrace their creativity to make it back home. Jack ******, known for his roles in previous video game adaptations like Borderlands and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, leads the film as Steve, with Aquaman star Jason Momoa and The ****** Purple‘s Danielle Brooks among the four strangers who need to return home. View the full article

  9. The penultimate reward in season five of Modern Warfare 3 is here, and it’s a unique blueprint for one of the game’s best LMGs. With one week of challenges left to go, there’s little time left for players to finish every week’s challenges so they can grab the Chainbreaker ******* camo before season five comes to an end on Sept. 18. Iron Clad is one of these important rewards along the way. View the full article
  10. Harry Potter Quidditch Champions features multiple currencies to collect, but Gold is arguably one of the most sought-after as it gives you access to multiple free items. You can’t spend real money to accumulate Gold in Harry Potter Quidditch Champions because there are no microtransactions. While you can get your hands on common currencies like the Moonstones and Winged Keys by completing challenges, there are even more ways to get Gold. So what are some of those best methods? 11. Before you even drop onto the court in NBA 2K25, you might run into error code 4b538e50. It’s an odd error that occurs when trying to start up the game, and without any solutions, it can be a frustrating roadblock on your way to the hardwood. Many different errors can pop up in NBA 2K25, especially during the opening week of the game and in early access. Players are jumping on the game’s servers for the first time and trying out all the new features, but something could easily break for a specific player or the whole player base in the blink of an eye. 12. Intel has officially just launched a new range of chips for gaming handhelds and thin-and-light gaming laptops, proudly claiming that it now has the "fastest built-in GPU" for these products. Formerly codenamed Lunar Lake, the new lineup of Intel Core Ultra 200V chips integrate CPU cores, up to 32GB of RAM, and a new Intel Arc Xe2 Battlemage into one package, meaning there's no need to for manufacturers to make room for memory modules and separate CPU and GPU chips. The new Intel chips were unveiled at the IFA show in Berlin, and the company says that over 80 machines are already lined up to use the new Core Ultra 200V chips, from over 20 different manufacturers. These not only include new contenders for the best gaming laptop in the thin and light category, but the new MSI Claw 8 AI+ will also be taking a shot at the best handheld gaming PC with one of the new chips too. 15. The online portion of NBA 2K25 appeals to many players as they jump into the game. With multiple online servers, there’s a chance there could be some problems with this process when connecting to a match. The servers could be experiencing issues, and NBA 2K25 might be down. There are a few ways you can check the server status for NBA 2K25 if you’re encountering these issues. A lot of the time, the problem is with the developer and not on your side when you attempt to connect. If you find out it’s on your end, however, you’ll need to troubleshoot some ways to reconnect to the servers. Here’s what you need to know about how to check the NBA 2K25 servers and if they’re down. 16. Enlarge / There are different types of Space Marines. Some of them are traitors. All of them weigh as much as a Fiat 500. [/url] If you had given me, at age 15 or so, a game in which you can ****** seemingly hundreds of Tyranid bugs at once with two friends, alternately blasting them with bolt rifles or pulverizing them with a chainsword, then finishing the biggest of them by ripping off one of his claws and shoving it through his head, all of it happening to the sounds of action-movie orchestration and dialogue about stoic duty, would I have had any complaints? No, I would not. But we're spoiled for choice now. How much you enjoy Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 (for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation and releasing on September 9) will depend on your ability to tap into the deep basement of your *****-'em-all mentality and fantasy lore engagement. You can enjoy it somewhat ironically, which I did at times, especially when playing co-op with friends who told me that they did not like the game's aesthetics at all. But strip away the grimdark trappings of zealotry, Chaos Marines, and skulls—so, so many skulls—and you have a competent, sometimes innovative third-party squad shooter. It feels like Gears of War but with heavier characters, more melee combat, and somehow even fewer women. Getting the most out of Space Marine 2 means suspending disbelief, feeling heavy metal, and wanting to ***** a whole bunch of things with some very big dudes. In roughly a dozen hours of gameplay, I found the core gameplay loop relatively engaging, with enough mix-ups, upgrades, and challenges to keep it feeling more like the fun kind of endless war, not the real kind. It's pretty enjoyable to team up with friends, too, so long as they're cool with Warhammer 40K's vibes and some occasionally repetitive challenges. 17. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 feels like a release that's often too rare in the current gaming landscape a fairly polished, tightly designed, and novel game with a respectably lengthy campaign, fully playable in co-op, a separate, bespoke cooperative mode (also playable alone and offline), and a modest PvP multiplayer that doesn't over-extend itself. It attempts something unique, and despite not always shining brightly, smartly leans on its rich setting to deliver stories that are inherently interesting enough to carry its less compelling facets. 18. An employee working on Gearbox's upcoming game Borderlands 4 shared some sage advice for Concord developers, urging the team to back up their work before it's too late. This advice comes as Sony confirmed it would be pulling the plug on Concord two weeks after the game's release due to lukewarm reception and shockingly low sales, leading to one of the biggest fumbles the video game industry has seen in recent memory. 19. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 might be the most faithful Warhammer video game adaptation of all time. You're paying money for a really good product, you just don't get a huge amount in the box. Ask any Custodian or Grey Knights player, though: that's the quintessential Warhammer experience. Created by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment, Space Marine 2 is in many ways a dream game for Warhammer fans. We've seen a variety of great new games using this IP in recent years; Boltgun, Rogue Trader, Speed Freaks, and Darktide. You could easily make an argument that we're in the golden age of Warhammer video game adaptations. But Space Marine 2 stands in a world of its own; it's the big blue boys in a triple-A shooter, given the budget it deserves. I think Saber Interactive has done an excellent job bringing the grimdark universe of 40k to life, mixing in so much style and character as to make the game a mandatory buy for any 40k diehard. But, by the time I finished up the campaign and operations mode, I was desperate for more. Read more View the full article
  20. WIT Studio is back with another exciting looking project, this time a brand new anime adaptation of Yaiba. While it's a bit of a newer studio compared to some of the other more established names out there, WIT Studio has certainly proven itself with some ******* projects like Spy x Family and ******** Squad Isekai, not to mention the opening and 2D cutscenes from Persona 3 Reload. Now, they're back with another classic, Yaiba, a series that follows the titular character Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai who takes inspiration from real-world samurai Miyamoto Musashi. If you take a look at the trailer below and think "huh, I vaguely recognise that style," that's because the manga the anime is based on is from Gosho Aoyama, best known for the long running Cased Closed series (also commonly known as Detective Conan). The first trailer is just a short one at around 30 seconds long, but it honestly looks really fun and expressive in the little time it does run for. Takahiro Hasui is directing the series, who previously served as an episode director on Mob Psycho 100 and Bungo Stray Dogs, with Inu-Oh chief animation director Yoshimichi Kameda serving as character designer and chief animation director. 21. It's been 13 years since the first Space Marine came out. While it wasn't outstanding in the grander landscape of gaming, enough Warhammer 40K fans seem to have cherished the escapades of bulky blue boltgunner Demetrian Titus for the action game to merit a sequel a decade later. It left its story on something of a cliffhanger, with said hero being dragged away to face untold tortures by the Inquisition, the most zealous sect of this preternaturally paranoid sci-fi universe. Today, Titus is free again. Free to stomp towards hordes of alien foes, blast them with a plasma incinerator, and shred the stragglers with a chainsaw sword. Space Marine 2 is an often-satisfying scrapper that has me convinced of 40K's merit as a crafting ground for excellent-looking environments and creatures, even if I'm not particularly moved by the bland character of Titus and his fellow Ultramarines. And in ****** Ops 6, one of the LMGs on offer is the XMG, which is the LMG version of the XM4 ******** rifle, one of the better guns in the game.
