Yep, this is an actual thing. Following the news that Concord isn't long for this world, there's now a Change.org petition for the game to be re-released, reasoning that people were just too busy to play in the time around its launch last month. In case you've been living under a rock, Sony and Firewalk Studios announced on September 4 that, following a rocky launch that saw it struggle to attract the kind of playerbase the former's bigwigs were clearly hoping for, Concord will be shutting down on September 6. Players who bought it on PS5 and PC prior to sales ceasing will be offered full refunds, with the first of those moves having made the game a bit of a phenomenon among would-be collectable sellers. Now, it's also infiltrated the ranks of people who remember all the weird stuff that happened around the release of the so-bad-it's-good meme spectacular Morbius, which I'm reliably informed was a film, not just a bunch of jokes. Following some posts on social media editing the infamous 2022 Change.org petition calling for the movie to be brought back to cinemas, there's now a similar one for Concord. Astro **** should feel cynical, a by-the-numbers 3D platformer designed to tap into the nostalgia people have for the now 30-year-old PlayStation - the Deadpool & Wolverine of the video game world. A cash-in, lifting the ideas of other games and throwing some iconic decoration on top, like a bog standard Victoria Sponge with yellow Minion icing fondant slapped over it. Enjoy this cake an extra amount because you ******* love Minions, don't you, Timmy! Gorge yourself on the things you love and then spoil it all on social media! And yet, Astro **** absolutely isn't any of those things. It's a colourful, joyful leap through the past and present of PlayStation, and it exudes the kind of love for the medium that is usually only experienced in the best from Nintendo or, dare I say it, ***** during its blue skies peak. As a modern 3D platformer, the absolute basics here are just as you'd expect and as tight as Nathan Drake's eyelids in a sandstorm. Jump and punch through levels, but also jet hover (with added ****** to anything beneath the hover blast), spin, and use whichever power-ups offered that the level is designed around. Astro **** is most similar to, if you are desperate for a comparison, Mario Odyssey, rather than the more action-oriented Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - although it has its moments. You might struggle to convince someone developer Team Asobi has created a pure platformer given the array of gadgets on show, but it's about as close as we're likely to get these days. It seems like Techland, the talented team behind Dying Light 2 and upcoming spin-off The ******, has a lot on its hands right now. As well as continuing its zombie and FPS game series, the Polish studio is also working on a new fantasy game, reportedly overseen by former developers from The Witcher series. Details on that game are scarce, but we at least knew it existed. Based on an enigmatic new listing, however, it seems Techland has yet something else up its metaphorical sleeve, a completely unannounced new project separate from both the Dying Light series and the fantasy game. The Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown system requirements have been released, and they've left us completely bemused. In what appears to be an attempt to keep the GPU demands low, excessive upscaling is recommended in what leads to an actual rendering resolution of 640 x 360, which is then upscaled to 1080p. Few games will list the best graphics card models in their system requirements, unless we're talking about ultra or 4K tiers. This is to prevent scaring off gamers who may have older systems. With Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown, however, the minimum requirements almost feel misleading given the compromises required to get the game running on an Nvidia GeForce GTX GPU. Space Marine 2 publisher Focus Interactive has asked players not to spoil the game’s story as its early access ******* goes live. In a tweet, Focus published a statement calling on Space Marine 2 players not to spoil the campaign because “every Space Marine out there deserves the thrill of discovering the game’s story on their own.” “Together, let’s take care of the long-time Warhammer fans and newcomers alike by making sure everyone can enjoy the game without being spoiled," Focus continued. "Your fellow brothers and sisters will appreciate it!” Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s global release date is September 9, but those who pre-ordered any of the special editions get early access from today, September 5. (Check out Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s global release times to find out when the game goes live in your region.) Fans have pointed out that it will be difficult to contain spoilers when Space Marine 2’s effective release date is a full four days before its global release date. No doubt fans will be streaming and posting content to the likes of YouTube imminently. Focus has also been criticized by some for enabling full campaign walkthroughs on YouTube and Twitch from content creators 24 hours before the early access *******, meaning before the vast majority of players can get their hands on the game. If you care this much about that, maybe they don't let content creators stream the game ahead of time or offer an early access ******* for preorders of the expensive editions? Just a thought. Looking forward to the game — Hank (not Green) (@hankjw) September 4, 2024 Hilarious tweeting something like this when selling a version of the game with 4 day early access. — Cody (@CrapCody) September 4, 2024 No spoilers, but yet you allow this lot to stream on Twitch...????? There's a new Wolf Man movie coming out soon, in case you forgot, and since it's directed by The Invisible Man's (2020) Leigh Whannell, we were kind of excited about it, but our (supposed) first look at the monster's design has left us cackling instead of terrified. Via X/Twitter user SpeculationMatt, who seems to specialize in covering Halloween Horror Nights (that's an interesting niche for sure), we've got our first look at Blumhouse and Universal's Wolf Man's wolfman, or at least that's what we're supposed to get from this marketing kickoff, right? As you can see, the costume seems rather cheap, but that's not the real issue, as we highly doubt they're just giving to performers exact copies of the costumes being used in film productions. What's worrying is the design itself, which has little-to-no wolf features in it. I mean, that's just an old guy turned into a background fantasy character freak. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm a more convincing wolfman when I've gone two months without visiting the barbershop and don't get my morning caffeine. Read more View the full article

Helldivers 2's third ****** faction is maybe definitely possibly probably almost certainly about to be released, as players report sightings of the mysterious menace on the game's Galactic War map. Development studio Arrowhead, aka the glorious government of Super Earth, are downplaying the rumours as usual. They're claiming (via in-game broadcast) that the fleeting appearance of a weird purple blob on the map screen is actually the result of fluids leaking from the corpse of a long-***** comms technician, stranded on a server farm somewhere. Who to believe? Ah, if only we had some means of shedding light on the reports. Some way of Illuminating the situation. Read more View the full article
Earlier this week, things were looking pretty bleak for folks hoping to play soulslike Enotria: The Last Song on Xbox when it releases on September 19, as its devs announced that the version of the game for that plaform had been delayed indefinitely. Now, however, Phil Spencer and co have reached out, and Xbox Enotria will be a thing "ASAP". If you're out of the loop, developer Jyamma Games revealed earlier this week that it'd had to abandon plans to bring the game Xbox as well as PC and PS5 at release, citing a "lack of communication" from Microsoft regarding the Xbox submission process as the cause. Now, the studio has tweeted that things are back on track. "We would like to officially thank Phil Spencer and his team for reaching out to us so quickly and hrelping to resolve our situation," Jyamma wrote, "We would also like to thank our amazing comnmunity for al;l the support show in recent days.
