Beloved YouTuber Shirley Curry, colloquially known as the Skyrim Grandma, has announced her retirement from making gameplay videos after doing so for nine years. A YouTube video announcing her retirement aged 88 has an appropriate 8,800 upvotes on Reddit, where fans of her content thanked her for making videos for so many years and crossed their fingers for a return when The Elder Scrolls 6 finally comes out. Curry said she won't be making gameplay videos anymore simply because she no longer enjoys it, but isn't quitting YouTube altogether. She'll continue posting vlogs once in a while and may occasionally do reading videos of the books in Skyrim or even her own stories. News: The Skyrim Granny retires byu/thesithcultist inskyrim .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } "I'm just doing it for fun and it isn't fun anymore," Curry said. "I'm tired of it. I'm bored with it. I'm bored to ****** with it. So I am making the decision now, totally, finally. I am not going to be making any more game videos and uploading them." With her new free time, Curry is going to make a quilt, read some more, and maybe even write a book. And she'll make vlogs about all of the above. Whether or not she returns to making gameplay videos when The Elder Scrolls 6 comes out ******** to been, but Curry's legacy with the franchise is already immortalised. Having amassed more than a million subscribers, she has long since gained recignition from other members of the Skyrim community and even developer Bethesda itself. Fans petitioned to have Curry immortalised in the next game back in 2018, and Bethesda eventually responded and, as reported by Eurogamer, announced she would get her own NPC character in the highly anticipated game. The Elder Scrolls 6 still feels a long way away though, despite its teaser trailer being released more than six years ago. Bethesda said "early builds" of the game were being worked on in March 2024, but has not indicated any sort of release window otherwise. Image Credit: Shirley Curry on YouTube. Not long after Larian released its official modding toolkit for Baldur's Gate 3, it took next to no time for modders to find out how to unlock a developer mode in it that gives folks the chance to try a bunch of advanced stuff. Now, one modder's busy swapping out the game's turn-based fights for real-time ones, and they're making some decent progress so far. Read more View the full article

Okay, cards on the table - I think Resident Evil 3 is the weakest game out of that original, '90s trilogy. It's still good. But Resident Evil 1996 and RE2 are much better. The problem is Nemesis. He's a great idea, a seemingly unstoppable monster that hunts and plagues you throughout all of Raccoon City, and can appear any time, but ultimately, it means almost every boss ****** in Resident Evil 3 is the same, and after enough encounters, Nemesis becomes less scary and more frustrating. Resident Evil 3 Remake is the better game (more on why later), but with rumors swirling about RE9 and a new version of Code Veronica, it's very good news that the original Resident Evil 3 is finally coming to PC. Stardew Valley developer Eric Barone, aka ConcernedApe, has finally announced the hotly anticipated release date for update 1.6 on console and mobile. The developer behind the 30 million-selling farm life simulation game said in a tweet that 1.6 hits console and mobile on November 4, 2024. That’s for all console and mobile versions of the game, including the Nintendo Switch version, and includes the 1.6.9 update. In a follow-up tweet, ConcernedApe said that following the release of 1.6, console and mobile players can still experience almost everything new with their existing save, “but if you have any interest in starting a new farm it would be ideal to start fresh.” “Some of the new things, for example, are different in year one than in year two plus,” ConcernedApe continued. “Besides, it's fun to start a new farm right?” Last month, ConcernedApe said the console and mobile ports of 1.6 were proving troublesome — so much so that he hadn’t worked on his follow-up game “in a long time.” The free 1.6 update, which sparked a fresh 10/10 Stardew Valley review from IGN, launched on PC in March, which means console and mobile players will have waited eight months for it to launch on their platforms. ConcernedApe initially expected the ports would be released a month later. In a tweet published last month, a clearly frustrated ConcernedApe apologized to disgruntled fans, and promised not to return to work on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, until Stardew 1.6 was finalized. Haunted Chocolatier, revealed in 2021, doesn’t have a release window. I never intended for the delay to be this long. Tweeting over the weekend, ConcernedApe explained: “I've always released on PC first, because it's sort of a ‘beta test’ to make sure there are no critical (e.g. save-destroying) bugs, which are a much ******* deal on consoles because they can't be patched out as quickly. However, I never intended for the delay to be this long.” Also last month, ConcernedApe explained why he really wants Pam in a potential Stardew Valley crossover with Fortnite. Console players are kicking off the week with some fantastic news as Stardew Valley has finally locked in a release date for the 1.6 Update on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. The massive patch may have dropped months ago for those fans on PC, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, developer ConcernedApe has taken longer than he'd have liked to get the new content onto every platform. The 1.6 Update is a huge improvement to the game and while console users have grown increasingly weary, their patience is about to pay off. View the full article

Spoilers throughout. TLDR: fun, generous, beautiful animation and cinematography. Worked mostly fine on my PC. I would not have given it the best narrative award if it were up against Gran Turismo 7. Writing of the frigid framing of Clockwork Orange’s atrocities, the film critic Pauline Kael asked: “is there anything sadder - and ultimately more repellent - than a clean-minded pornographer?” The lavishly directed and animated universe of **** Of War Ragnarok is far from repellent, but it also feels spiritually squeegeed; a world of pulpy ********* so chirpy and chaste as to strain belief that the scars that haunt its reformed anti-hero could have ever been inflicted there.
