Former NBA Street developers from EA have broken off from the video game giant to form their own studio and create a spiritual successor to the beloved basketball game. The game, titled The Run: Got Next, will be developed at the brand-new Play by Play Studios. The game itself is set to release in 2025 for Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Speaking to IGN on the game's reveal, co-founder of Play by Play Studios and former Madden creative director Mike Young talked about the developer's attitude towards the NBA Street Legacy, "There was a lot of us that worked on NBA Street that always wanted to bring it back. I think it is difficult for a company that has a game like a Madden or an NBA Live that is so big. If you're putting all your resources to that, I think it was challenging to think about a secondary game," Young says. "I was there when the Tiburon Studio brought back [NFL Blitz]. Some of the things I've seen in the past, they're just nostalgia plays and they kind of haven't evolved to a modern game. I think they don't have staying power, so they have to come out at a smaller price point. Activision reportedly sold an “AI-generated cosmetic” for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in late 2023. In a report from Wired on the impact of generative AI on the video game development industry and concern among many within it about the threat to their livelihoods, it is alleged that Activision “made an AI-generated cosmetic available for purchase on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 store.” The cosmetic in question is not named in the article, but it is linked to: the Yokai’s Wrath bundle released in December 2023. The store did not disclose any use of generative AI for this bundle. This bundle was sold for 1,500 COD Points, the premium virtual currency sold for real-world money that generates hundreds of millions of dollars for Activision each year. 1,500 COD Points is approximately valued at $15. It’s worth pointing out that Wired did not specify which part of this bundle was AI-generated, or indeed whether all of it was. The bundle contained a number of virtual items, including an Operator skin, a ******* blueprint, a calling card, a ******* sticker, and a loading screen, all below. The world of Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's The Batman finally has a name, and it could very well be the name of one of your old mates. Maybe. Sort of. Right now, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn is building out the new DC cinematic universe, with Superman set to kick things off next year. But, there were a couple of films based on DC properties that were popular enough to warrant their own sequels, despite not being connected to the old or new DCU. These films are set in DC's Elseworlds, projects that won't be connected to the DCU in anyway, but still adapt something from DC's library, with Joker 2 is coming up later this year, set in its own little chaotic corner of Gotham, and of course a sequel to The Batman is on the way. Before either of those releases, though, The Batman is getting a TV-show spinoff in the form of The Penguin, due out this September. And now, director Matt Reeves has slapped a name on his take on Gotham: BECS. You remember Becs right? Rebecca, from your science class, you were super close before the incident? OK, much like Becs is short for Rebecca, BECS is short for "Batman Epic ****** Saga" a title that Reeves shared in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. With a name like that, you'd possibly assume that Reeves and his producing partner Dylan Clark would want to launch a whole universe of projects - and you'd be exactly right. The Counter-Strike 2 community has slammed organizers of the Skyesports Championship after a horrific opening day where just one game was played. Between tech issues, power outages, terribly unfair playing conditions, and even a shock withdrawal, the future of the event is in jeopardy. The Destiny 2 community has found itself divided today after a streamer was warned by Bungie for using a VPN during a solo raid attempt. The tool was used to manipulate the game’s network to trivialize a raid mechanic, and some are unhappy the streamer wasn’t banned. Destiny 2 streamer Leopard shared a clip of his latest attempt to solo The Witness, the final boss of the Salvation’s Edge raid. Progressing the encounter requires ********* glyphs on The Witness’ body, but normally you can only ****** one at a time. Using network switching and a VPN, Leopard ended up ********* three at once, skipping a large chunk.
