Destiny 2 hosts its fair share of yearly events, with the Solstice and Guardian Games being just one of them; however, each event introduces new rewards, and this year, the Solstice also introduces a new bounty system used to reward Guardians with the yearly armor. In years past, Guardians had to complete the Bonfire Bash activity while wearing solstice armor, but this year, players must complete bounties and turn them in for currency rewards. Interestingly, developers did not choose to create an event Pathfinder under the new Pathfinder progression system; instead, they chose to return to tried-and-true bounties. View the full article
I suppose it makes sense from a game publisher's point of view to remaster, remake, or otherwise relaunch your most profitable and highly regarded legacy titles. If people loved it the first time, giving them the chance to play it again, either totally rebuilt from the ground up or visually enhanced and tweaked for modern hardware, is about as near as you can get to a surefire hit. It's fine. I enjoyed the Resident Evil remakes. I love the Command and Conquer Remastered Collection. I even bought the new versions of Metal Gear Solid, despite already owning them on basically every console and machine that I have. But I'd like to see a change in sensibility. Like with the recent Star Wars Bounty Hunter re-release, rather than reheating the classics, I'd like to see more game-makers try to improve upon and revive flawed diamonds. ***** Rising Deluxe Remaster, which I went hands-on with before its September launch, is a good example of where a game both deserves and warrants another draft. Yesterday, Evil *****: The Game developer Boss Team Games announced that it was working on two games based on the Halloween series, with one of them being developed in Unreal Engine 5, even netting the help of the original film's director John Carpenter. While still shrouded in mystery, of the two that was the one with more details, except today the second game was revealed over at IGN, and it turns out it's a 16-bit, '90s era arcade platformer. I'm no ****** 'em up nutter - or "shmutter", as I understand they prefer to be called - but some of the first games I remember playing are shmups. Little did I know that the humble premise of a small 2D spacecraft ********* baddies on a wrap-around screen would reach the glittering heights of Nova Drift. Diablo is one of my favorite videogame series ever. Characterized by complex narratives, jaw-dropping gore, and, of course, a whole lot of hacking and slashing, the world of Sanctuary is one that I happily call home. Yet, in a post-Baldur's Gate 3 world, I've found myself more drawn to strategy games - my recent obsession with Capcom's Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess has affirmed that. So, when I saw Band of Crusaders, which blends the demonic brutality of Diablo with the strategy elements of Age of Empires or Dragon Age: Origins, I was certainly intrigued. Pulling the right characters is crucial to success in Sword of Convallaria, but more important is investing in them. As they play through the game's campaign, players receive a pool of generic XP that can be applied to any of their summoned characters at will. This increases their base stats, but must be used in conjunction with other materials to unlock new abilities. Players can also spend badges to upgrade their characters, leveling them up along a branching skill tree. They can also equip certain weapons, armor, and accessories to further increase their stats and grant them special buffs. View the full article

When it comes to survival-horror games on Steam, it can be difficult for indie creators to stand out from the crowd and define what makes their take on the genre unique from the plethora of alternative experiences on the storefront.
