In a bid to keep pushing things in a better direction, the League balance team will be taking another look at several key elements of matchmaking, including red vs. blue side balance, how players are paired together (especially when it comes to skill levels), and how the ****** treats returning players. It's always easy to understimate just how long games can take to create. It doesn't matter whether it's a powerhouse like Grand Theft Auto 6 or something much smaller like Nova Drift, these things are always going to take much longer than planned. Nova Drift had a Kickstarter back in 2017, after which all backers got Steam beta access a couple weeks later. Official Early Access landed in 2019, and after five years of steady updates today sees its official launch into 1.0. It seems like a lot of time for an Asteroids-style shooter, but there's a lot of depth in the build possibilities of its pick-one-of-several powerup system and tuning it properly takes time. The One Piece Card Game banlist is one of the only external deckbuilding rules Bandai Namco places on local and competitive play, with the most powerful or synergistically strong cards hitting the chopping block. Bandai originally decided to keep the ever-evolving banlist quite sparse in the early days of the One Piece card game, only really blocking set two’s Cabaji. Whitebeard’s iconic ship, the Moby *****, was added quickly after the Paramount War set was released though, when it became clear how meta-warping the red stage could be when paired with other Whitebeard Pirates cards. Blasting away with finger guns in Deadlock’s training level. | Screenshot by Sean Hollister / The Verge It’s been nearly five years since Valve announced a truly new game — and counting. Valve has still not announced Deadlock, its new hero shooter that takes cues from Overwatch, Dota 2, Team Fortress 2 and more. But that hasn’t stopped nearly 20,000 people from trying the game, including me. And I’m not under NDA. I have signed no contracts, made no verbal agreements; I haven’t even clicked through a EULA. Screenshot by Sean Hollister / The Verge This message does pop up when I launch Deadlock, but I didn’t click OK; instead, I hit the Escape key and watched it disappear. Earlier today, I received a no-strings-attached invite to play Deadlock on Steam. Steam claims the game is made by Valve. It displays Valve’s... Continue reading… View the full article

Apex Legends ranked has been turned off today after a strange competitive glitch that reset everyone’s standings in the season just days after the new split began. Across the battle royale, Apex players immediately began reporting they’d lost their ranks after logging in on Monday, Aug. 12. The in-game messaging suggested the ranked split had been “reset”—a wipe obviously not meant to happen for more than a month. Unsurprisingly, the game-wide reset sparked panic across the community. Developer Nacon has announced that its open-world co-op game Terminator: Survivors has been delayed from its original October Early Access release date. The studio announced the schedule change on its official X/Twitter account, revealing that the Skynet survival game’s Early Access build will no longer launch on October 24. It’s now been pushed to an unspecified date in 2025, with Nacon citing a ******* to meet fans’ expectations. It acknowledges that the news will be disappointing for those who planned on playing the next Terminator game this Halloween but is confident in its decision, saying, “In the long term we believe this is the right call.” Dear Survivors, we have an important update about Terminator: Survivors. [Hidden Content] — Terminator: Survivors (@SurviveTheT800) August 12, 2024 “Over the past few months, we’ve been really impressed by your enthusiasm and amazed by the response to our announcements, and we know how eagerly fans are awaiting Terminator: Survivors,” the studio said. “To realize our vision, and to make sure to deliver the game that fits your expectations, we need some additional time. Thus, we will be pushing the launch to 2025.” Terminator: Survivors was announced in 2022 as a cutthroat multiplayer game set just after the events of the universe’s apocalyptic Judgement Day but before John Connor forms his Skynet resistance group. Additional details arrived this past February, revealing a project that tasks players with scavenging in a worn-down open world with up to three friends as they ****** off both ****** humans and relentless Terminators. “This takes place in a yet unexplored timeline of the Terminator universe,” creative director Marco Ponte said earlier this year, “with a completely original storyline that includes both famous characters and new ones, and where you’ll learn about the beginnings of John Connor’s resistance.” We’ve seen little from Terminator: Survivors and today’s delay means the wait for more just got longer. In the meantime, you can learn about the upcoming anime adaptation, Terminator Zero. It’s set for release on August 29, 2024, but was recently involved in a massive animation ***** at Netflix.
