Since its launch in May of this year, XDefiant impressed in several ways. Not only is it a fun, well-designed arcade shooter, it seemed to have got off to a good start with its community, responding to feedback and keeping lines of communication open. Recently, however, the community sentiment has turned for the worse, with a souring of feeling among fans. Many of Japan's biggest games have been open world-ized, but I wouldn't have expected the next to be—*checks notes*—summer vacation adventures. Sony's Boku no Natsuyasumi ("My Summer Holiday") series was a life sim trailblazer in the early 2000s, and now there's Natsu-Mon: an enjoyable adventure giving a seldom-known subgenre new life. A fan-made Minthara cosplay from Baldurs Gate 3 has highlighted the drow characters gentler side, without dispensing her authority figure altogether. Minthara is one of the possible companions in the award-winning RPG by Larian Studios. Introduced as an antagonist, the character can be partnered with and even saved, though players are required to lean into an evil-aligned playthrough which, in turn, makes them part ways with a few other companions in Baldurs Gate 3. Update 43 is bringing two main changes and a big set of new rewards to the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). PC players will get the update on Aug. 19, while Xbox and PlayStation consoles get it next month on Sept. 4, but the changes remain the same on all platforms.
