Who doesn't love an in-game freebie? A new skin here, an XP boost there, a complimentary character unlock every now and again - no matter what game you play, the universal language of 'free stuff' will always make you happy. That is, unless you're not eligible for said free stuff. In World of Warcraft right now, a new promotion lets you perform the easiest of tasks in exchange for a pretty cool free helm - however, likely due to its crossover with a well-known brand, it's unfortunately region-locked. The Mass Effect trilogy includes a variety of species to populate the Milky Way Galaxy, and each has its own history, culture, and defining features. While there's a lot to explore when it comes to the races of the Milky Way, details that pop up early in the trilogy can lead to questions that are answered later or perhaps only answered through digging into extra information provided either in the game or through additional content. Questions like why Tali and the rest of the Quarians wear special suits are luckily answered through completing quests. View the full article
Woot's Cyber Monday *****, is mostly over, but one of their most popular deals lives on for a bit longer. Right now, you can score an Anker PowerCore 737 24,000mAh 140W Power Bank for only $69.99. Amazon Prime members get free shipping, otherwise pay $6. This is the best price we've seen for one of our favorite Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally X chargers. I have owned this power bank for over a year; it has been on multiple flights and road trips and is still lasting strong. Anker 737 24,000mAh 140W Power Bank for $69.99 The Anker 737 is a hefty power bank, measuring 4.6"x2.2"x2" and weighing in at 1.4lbs. This is something you'd put in your travel bag or backpack instead of your pocket. It has two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port. The USB Type-C ports support a maximum of 140W of power delivery. That means a single port could deliver 140W, or both ports will deliver a combination of 140W depending on which devices are plugged in (for example, 70W + 70W or 100W + 40W). In terms of gaming handhelds, the Steam Deck supports up to 38W of charging, the Asus ROG Ally up to 65W, the Asus ROG Ally X up to 100W, and the Nintendo Switch up to 18W. That means the Anker Prime can easily charge all three gaming handhelds – even the ROG Ally X – at their maximum rate; you'll even be able to play and charge simultaneously. A 20,000mAh battery equates to a 74Whr capacity. An 80% power efficiency rating (which is about standard for power banks) gives you about 59Whr of available charge. That means this power bank will charge a Steam Deck (40Whr) or Asus ROG Ally (40Whr) from empty to completely full 1.5 times, an Asus ROG Ally X (80Whr) 0.75 times, and a Nintendo Switch (16Whr) about 3.7 times. You can see here why we think a 20,000mAh capacity should be the bare minimum for more power hungry gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally (and especially the Ally X). The Anker 737 is TSA-approved TSA states that power banks must be under 100Whr in capacity for carry-on (check-in is not allowed under any circumstances). This Anker Prime is safely under that at 74Whr. You might get checked simply because the Anker 737 is a hefty-looking power bank, but you shouldn't have any problems getting it cleared. I've gone through plenty of airport checkpoints and have only been checked once – at Tokyo NRT – and cleared without a problem. Anker Prime 27,500mAh Power Bank for $99.99 Woot! is also offering the Anker Prime 27,650mAh USB Power Bank for only $99.99. This is again the best price we've seen for 2024 (the previous lowest price was $119.99). The Anker Prime is the successor to the Anker 737 with a couple of noticeable upgrades like a higher power capacity (but still within the limit for TSA eligibility), higher power delivery output (250W vs 140W) and a higher charging rate through USB Type-A (65W vs 18W). STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has turned out to be one of the major survival horror games of 2024, despite its late release. One of the biggest sources of discussion is the crafting system, or, rather, the lack thereof. As one of the most used mechanics in survival games over the past few years, it's interesting that GSC Game World chose not to utilize one in STALKER 2. View the full article

****** Friday had plenty of great video game deals, and thankfully, many of them carried over into Cyber Monday. If you've been itching to jump into the world of Space Marine 2, the game is still discounted at Amazon to $49.99 for PS5 and Xbox Series X. This is $20 off its original price of $69.99, and considering we think it's one of the best games of 2024, it's definitely worth picking up. This deal likely won't stick around for long past Cyber Monday, so act fast to add it to your virtual shopping cart before it's gone. IGN's Chris Reed gave this game an 8/10 in our Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 review. He said it's "a terrific third-person shooter with a compelling story, loads of weapons that are a blast to use, and a healthy variety of enemies to use them on. It once again borrows many of its ideas from the Gears of War series, but they’re good ideas, and Space Marine 2 does a fine job of making them its own." It's not the only game deal on our radar right now, either. Also at Amazon, you can save on the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 for Switch, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown for PS5, Star Wars Outlaws for PS5 and Xbox Series X, and Sonic X Shadow Generations for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch. Hear ye, hear ye! The hit board game Splendor is on ***** for $19.99 at Amazon right now for Cyber Monday — a 50% markdown from the game's $39.99 retail price, which saves those who purchase it a total of $20.00. It's the best deal we've seen on this beloved strategy game all year, including its discounted price during Prime Day in October. Get Splendor Now for $19.99 Splendor was released in 2014 and has remained a popular title among board game enthusiasts since. The beauty of Splendor ***** in its simplicity: It's a great game to bust out a family gathering for players of all ages and experience levels due to its intuitive ruleset and average 30-minute playtime. Once you get a handle on the basic premise of the game, there's room for plenty of strategy to come into play. It's an economic engine game designed around the concept that players are working to build an increasingly powerful economy to buy cards that earn them points (dubbed "prestige" in the world of Splendor). In good ol' Renaissance fashion, your currency is none other than gemstones, which are represented by multi-******** tokens. The end goal is to reach 15 prestige points, which you accumulate by purchasing cards worth variable amounts of points with the gems you collect. If you're spending your gems on cards wisely, you might even become eligible for a visit from a noble, which gives you a massive point boost. Splendor is a race to the finish line among players, but this game doesn't make it easy. Whether it's your rival reserving a card you had your eye on or someone hoarding the already-limited supply of tokens that you needed to purchase the card you've been saving up for, there's plenty of curveballs along the way that make game sessions with friends and family ripe with tension and necessitate thorough planning. For the price you're paying, this is a fantastic board game to snag this December, whether it be for your own collection or a fun gift that you can count on arriving before the holidays. If you'd rather pick it up in-person, Target is also selling Splendor at the same price for Cyber Monday. Plus, Target Circle is offering a Buy 2, Get 1 Free promotion on a wide selection of other games that you could pair with this one for the perfect starter strategy game kit to gift any board game fan.
