  1. Multiple NASCAR games are getting a permanant pit stop because they are getting delisted from all digital storefronts on December 31. Publisher Motorsport Games affirms the games will be playable after the date, however. View the full article
  2. As someone who was so fascinated by the ancient world from an early age that they ended up going into student debt for it, *********'s Creed Odyssey is easily one of my favorite games of all time. When Ubisoft first took its flagship series in a more RPG-oriented direction I wasn't entirely sold on the prospect, but the *********'s Creed take on the Aegean is unlike anything else I've ever played. It perfectly blends the twisted history, myth, sailing, and combat the *********'s Creed games are known for, and you can grab it on Steam for its cheapest price yet. Read the rest of the story... 4. New Genshin Impact 5.3 leaks have revealed that Mavuika has one of the funniest bugs in the game, even if it will likely be corrected before her official release. Mavuika is confirmed to be one of the next playable characters in HoYoverse’s action RPG as per the drip marketing that was released. So far, the company has teased a total of three characters, namely Mavuika, Citlali, and Lan Yan, but there are rumors hinting at a total of four new characters in Genshin Impact 5.3 – the fourth of which will come in the form of the Pyro Traveler. The case is no different for Fortnite, which has a tradition of celebrating the holiday season with an event called Winterfest. 12. Encouraging thorough planning and creative solutions, StarCraft 2 has been the king of the RTS genre for well over a decade now. Despite how beloved Blizzard's iconic strategy game and its many DLCs still are all these years later, one level - In Utter Darkness - has yet to be truly beaten. You see, you're not supposed to win. Like Halo Reach's iconic Lone Wolf mission, you are expected to crumble beneath the unsurmountable waves of Zergs to serve the story, seeing the Protoss race inevitably go extinct. Thanks to one dedicated player, however, this seemingly impossible mission has finally been conquered - well, sort of. Read the rest of the story... However, this Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super card from Asus offers a nice little saving on the best mid-range card around at the moment. When it arrived back at the start of this year, the Nvidia RTX 4070 Super really shook up the middle of the GPU market, as it came in at the same price as the original RTX 4070 while offering noticeably better performance. As a result, it became clearly the best graphics card in its price range, and with today's discount that price range has dipped just a little bit lower than usual. Read the rest of the story... 19. ‘Confident’ game design is one of those slightly fluffy critic words I sometimes find myself reaching for tenuously, knowing that - sigh - I’m going to have to do all sort of detestable nonsense like ‘back up my vague assertion with concrete examples that are useful to the reader’ if I do. Yuck. If there’s one type of design that deserves the accolade, though, it’s RPGs that are assured enough in the richness of their worlds to not feel the need to signpost every discovery. It’s a feedback loop of charitable feelings: the game is saying "we think you’re smart enough to find this stuff on your own". "You’re right!" you respond. "I am smart! And anyone who recognises that must be one smart cookie". Joy abounds, it rains Tunnock’s Caramel Wafers, hedgehogs jig gracefully in the street, and all is right with the world. So, I must say, I’m quite pleased to hear Avowed’s environment region director Berto Ritger sing the virtues of missable content to GamesRadar. Read more View the full article

  21. Marvel Rivals developer NetEase has revealed the remaining characters set to appear at launch, including a first look at Wolverine. The 6v6 team-based hero shooter is packed with characters from the Marvel universe (think Overwatch but Marvel) and launches December 6 with 33 heroes unlocked and free to play. Five new characters were revealed over the weekend: Squirrel Girl, ****** Widow, Cloak & Dagger, Iron Fist, and Wolverine. While fans are debating the look of each character in the game, the design of Wolverine has sparked the most vociferous response, both positive and negative. The Wolverine here is certainly... different. Not only is he not wearing his iconic mask, this Wolverine looks a lot younger than most were seemingly expecting despite the grey streaks in his hair, and seems to favor a more casual outfit than a familiar battle costume. Some are already saying they’re hoping for the release of Wolverine's classic brown and canary yellow suits via premium skins. Others are comparing Marvel Rivals’ Wolverine to a Street Fighter character or a character from League of Legends animated show Arcane. But as others are pointing out, Marvel comics, shows, and movies have shown Wolverine in casual wear over the years, so perhaps fans shouldn't be so surprised by his base look in Marvel Rivals. The Marvel Rivals and Marvel Games teams host a fan Ask Me Anything on December 4 at 7pm Pacific / 10pm Eastern on the official Discord, so hopefully they’ll provide some insight into Wolverine's design there. A first look at Wolverine gameplay is expected soon too, but based on the video above, we can expect to see Hulk throw Wolverine through a portal to get behind the ****** team. 23. Last week, Brendy left a note in our weekly Maw liveblog about a player-made map of Caves Of Qud, the reportedly excellent sci-fi roguelike RPG that lets you "chisel through layers of thousand-year-old civilizations", represented as 2D Dwarf Fortress-esque layouts. Glancing over that map as a newcomer to the game, my eye was caught by the creator's casual mention that Caves Of Qud is technically 2,147,483,646 levels deep. "Is Caves Of Qud really 2,147,483,646 levels deep?" I asked Brendy, like a wide-eyed child asking whether there is such a thing as dog heaven. Brendy wasn't sure. (About Caves Of Qud, I mean, not dog heaven.) So I put the question to one of the developers, Freehold Games co-founder Brian Bucklew. In brief, the answer is yes, but with some significant caveats.
