It’s the season of giving, and for PlayStation 5 users, giving a game to a friend is one of the best gifts they can receive. But gifting games on the PS5 can be a little tricky. Of course, there’s always the good old-fashioned method of buying a physical game disc you can then give to your friend. But this is 2024, after all, and there are plenty of people with consoles that don’t even have disc-drives anymore. If your friend has one of the digital-only PS5s, giving them a game just got that much more complicated. And if you’re a PC player simply trying to give a game to a friend that’s on console, you might be surprised or disappointed to learn that gifting games on PS5 isn’t nearly as straightforward as it is on Steam. Out of all the new subclasses coming in next year's Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 release, the most hilarious and possibly overpowered is the Way of the ******** Master Monk subclass. The developers are "putting the brew in homebrew" with this new addition to the popular Monk subclass options, and it will allow players to put all that booze they have lying around to good use. Then, I do it all over again - plunging into maddening wastelands fraught with terrors in search of resources and, of course, food for the chugging locomotive that I'm symbiotically bound to. Turnover at the top of the company isn't stopping Intel from launching new products: Today the company is announcing the first of its next-generation B-series Intel Arc GPUs, the Arc B580 and Arc B570. Both are decidedly midrange graphics cards that will compete with the likes of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 4060 and AMD's RX 7600 series, but Intel is pricing them competitively: $249 for a B580 with 12GB of RAM and $219 for a B570 with 10GB of RAM. The B580 launches on December 13, while the B570 won't be available until January 16. The two cards are Intel's first dedicated GPUs based on its next-generation "Battlemage" architecture, a successor to the "Alchemist" architecture used in the A-series cards. Intel's Core Ultra 200 laptop processors were its first products to ship with Battlemage, though they used an integrated version with fewer of Intel's Xe cores and no dedicated memory. Both B-series GPUs use silicon manufactured on a 5 nm TSMC process, an upgrade from the 6 nm process used for the A-series; as of this writing, no integrated or dedicated Arc GPUs have been manufactured by one of Intel's factories. If you’re like me, you’re team PC. But every now and again, it’s nice to kick back and play with a controller, and the PlayStation 5’s DualSense wireless controller is by far one of the best options on the market. But before you can make use of its features, you’ll have to first connect it to your PC. There are two main ways of playing on your PC with a PS5 controller: Bluetooth or USB. The former method is oftentimes what most people prefer; it’s nice to not have to deal with any restrictions of a USB cord, allowing you the freedom to play from whatever position or location in your house is the most comfortable. On the other hand, playing with a cable ensures your controller is charging and prevents any blips in the connection to your PC. View the full article

A STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl player has discovered an incredible Easter egg referencing the series debut, demonstrating the incredible attention to detail involved in developing the game. Despite the "2" in its title, STALKER 2 is technically the fourth game in the series. And although it's technically a standalone title, it's got lots to do with the previous games, featuring recurring characters, locations, and, as it turns out, even items from other entries in the STALKER series. Phasmophobia has many different ways you can put your ghost-hunting abilities to the test, but weekly challenges are one of the most formidable—and rewarding. The Glow in the Dark weekly challenge isn’t one of the toughest trials you’ll face, but it’s one of the scariest. As the name of this challenge suggests, you don’t have any solid light sources to work with while hunting the ghost, which makes it a whole lot more terrifying. Even though you’re likely to get jump-scared, this trial isn’t too tough to finish when you know what needs to be done, so here’s how to complete the Glow in the Dark challenge in Phasmophobia. While we've seen some pretty horrendous FPS flops in the last couple of years, there are some truly brilliant newcomers that deserve your attention. I know it can be hard to pull yourself away from the familiarity of longer-running live service shooters like Call of Duty, Fortnite, or Counter-Strike 2 - believe me, I suffer from this too - but if there's one you should definitely try (or return to, if you gave it a shot before) it's The Finals. The Sumeru era was largely marked by Dendro, whereas Fontaine tried to improve upon the more niche playstyles such as Plunge, Burning, and Overload. View the full article
Image: Nintendo Though it started out pretty chill, over the years, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp steadily became bloated with monetization. There were all kinds of things to spend real money on, including loot boxes for unlocking rare items. When I logged in to the game last week after months away, my screen was dominated by notifications vying for my attention, most of them involving spending some kind of cash. That’s what makes the new paid version of the app so intriguing. The original Pocket Camp has technically shut down, replaced by Pocket Camp Complete, which gets rid of all the in-app purchases in exchange for a one-time fee. (It’s $9.99 at launch on both iOS and Android, which will jump to $19.99 in January.) And without the looming specter of having to spend real money, this version of Pocket Camp is a whole lot more relaxing. Fundamentally, the game is the same. You’re tasked with running a campground for a bunch of friendly animals, which involves designing various spots for them to hang out, while also doing traditional Animal Crossing activities like fishing and catching bugs. The game allows existing Pocket Camp players to transfer their saves — all you need to do is link a... Read the full story at The Verge. View the full article
