  6. Forza Horizon 6 for PC and Xbox was released just last month. This is the perfect excuse for you to finally upgrade from a controller to a bona fide racing wheel. Logitech via its official eBay store is offering a fantastic deal on its most popular racing wheel. Right now you can pick up a refurbished Logitech G29 Racing Wheel and Pedal Set for PS5 and PC for just $145 shipped. The G29 retails for $330 new. It comes with a 1 year Logitech warranty, which isn't quite as long as the 2 years you get purchasing new, but a lot better than the standard 3 to 6 months you typicall get with a recertified model. Save 56% Off the Logitech G29 Racing Wheel and Pedal Set If you're a big fan of racing games and you've been using a DualSense controller or gamepad this entire time, then this price drop might be the excuse for you to step up your immersion to the next level. The G29 as already one of the best racing wheels under $300, and definitely the best racing wheel under $150. Standout features include a gorgeous hand-stitched leather steering wheel with 900 degrees of rotation, sturdy metal base, durable steel ball bearings in the shaft, gear-driven dual-force motor feedback, stainless shifter and pressure-sensitive pedals. The force feedback does an excellent job of simulating providing force and resistance and definitely adds to the immersion; if you want something better than this, you'd have to shell out a lot more money for a direct-drive or belt-driven wheel, like Logitech's own $1,000 G Pro direct-drive racing wheel we reviewed. The G29 is also compatible with the PC, and in fact it's superior to the Xbox's G920 variant. The G29 has LED shift lights located on the top of the wheel's spokes. These LEDs light up progressively as the car's RPMs rise in-game. The G29 also has a rotary knob on the wheel that can be customized to different functions. Forza Horizon 6 is out, and it's a Masterpiece IGN's Luke Reilly awarded the recently released Forza Horizon 6 a well-deserved 10/10 "Masterpiece" review. The latest iteration of the open-world arcade racing franchise allows you to traverse the varied vistas of Japan, from the snowswept mountainous paths of the Japanese Alps to the concrete jungle of the Tokyo Expressway. The game launches with 550 cars for you to customize and tweak, and dozens of single-player and online challenges for you to flex your skill, including the return of the Eliminator battle royale mode. 7. The release date for Control Resonant was finally revealed alongside a new trailer revealed at the PlayStation State of Play. It's coming September 24 this year and the new trailer gave us another look at the story of Control Resonant, the sequel to Remedy Entertainment's 2019 beloved action game. This time, players will fill the shoes of Dylan Faden, the tortured brother of Jesse Faden (protagonist of the first game), to stop a castastrophic supernatural threat that has consumed Manhattan and could eliminate humanity as we know it. Remedy isn't following the new norm for AAA game pricing, as the standard edition will cost just $59.99, which is $10 cheaper than what's expected nowadays. However, if you want some extra in-game goodies you can pay $69.99 for the digital deluxe edition. PlayStation players will also get a big bonus, as there will be a special PlayStation digital deluxe edition that grants players 48-hours of early access. This will only be available to PS5 owners, so Xbox and PC players will have to wait until September 24 to jump in on the action. “Control Resonant is Remedy Entertainment’s most expansive game ever, complete with incredible gameplay, narrative twists and challenging creativity that will keep old fans and new engaged and entertained like nothing we have created before,” said Johannes Paloheimo, Remedy’s Chief Commercial Officer and head of publishing. “As Remedy is self-publishing Control Resonant, our global marketing efforts will be just as ambitious in its execution and style, evidenced by this inclusion in the State of Play and leading us into Summer Game Fest and beyond. We will have a number of events and opportunities for fans over the summer as we move towards the game’s release on September 24.” Additionally, game director Mikael Kasurinen gave a deeper look on the story of Control Resonant on the official PlayStation blog. We had a hands-off Control Resonant preview opportunity back in March, and executive previews editor Ryan McCaffrey came away impressed, concluding, "After seeing Control Resonant’s aggressive, fast-paced combat for myself, I’m even more fired up to get my hands on it." Control Resonant may also be a continuation of some of the events from Alan Wake 2, as the games share a universe, but it's unclear how important Alan Wake's previous story will be to this game. Remedy is also currently developing remakes of the first two Max Payne games in partnership with Rockstar Games. More details will be shared on those games at a later date. The State of Play stream was packed with reveals, including God of War Laufey, which we have an exclusive developer interview for; and for all the other announcements, check out our roundup of everything from the June 2026 State of Play. 11. The biggest news to come out of PlayStation's State of Play wasn't just that there was a new God of War game, but that Kratos was sitting this one out and his wife, Faye, was taking the starring role. God of War Laufey's game director Ariel Lawrence and Santa Monica Studio creative director Cory Barlog spoke exclusively to IGN ahead of the showcase to explain why. "We'll always tell stories about Kratos, but I think for us, it was just a chance to talk about somebody who was so pivotal to the beginning and get to know them and push beyond into this new world and give us some place to be surprised and see how things connect. So for us, it's not a departure; it's more of an expansion." Barlog explained that he knew way back in 2018 that Faye was a character that he knew he wanted to explore, and God of War Laufey is the way to do it. "The character to usher us into this sort of new world is this character, who is such an anchor to the rebirth of where we were going with the franchise." He points out that Faye has been key to the recent games, even if she wasn't always front and center. "She was omnipresent but visually not represented. In 2018 she was a feeling; she was a phantom and a specter but one whose tendrils stretched out through the entirety of the narrative, and it gave her this interesting sense of power inside of it. It was like, man, it would be so interesting to see who she was before, but it also would be interesting to see how things continue forward." It's clear too in the footage shown, which represents the first 20 minutes of the game, and in the discussions with Lawrence and Barlog, that Faye is just as brutal as her hubby when it comes to combat. "Kratos is like a brick wall, and he's a little stoic, but it's just that his brutality is different," said Lawrence. "How do we show somebody who's his equal as she is? So when we looked, we got to think about all the [Santa Monica] games. The Greek era had an influence on Faye. The Norse era has an influence on Faye. So going to our more agile combat roots but also retaining our companions, our gritty closer combat. How do those marry together and then make something that's uniquely Faye-feeling while still being a Santa Monica game?" There's no release date for the game just yet, but you can find out more in the full interview with Lawrence and Barlog on IGN. 12. Valve released a native visionOS client for the flatscreen version of Steam Link, with 4K 120FPS support, replacing the need to use the iPad app on Apple Vision Pro. Since the launch of the original Vision Pro, the iPad version of Steam Link has been available on visionOS through the App Store. While this allowed for easily playing your flatscreen Steam library in the headset, it limited you to having a window with the 4:3 aspect ratio of an iPad, yet streaming the wider aspect ratio of your PC, leading to ****** bars on the top and bottom of the window – something entirely unnecessary in XR. The iPad app also limited the window's resolution to that of an iPad, around 2732×1537 for 16:9 content. With the visionOS app, released on the App Store a few weeks ago, the Steam Link window supports up to 4K streaming resolution, dynamically matches the aspect ratio of the PC you're streaming from, and lets you adjust the curvature of the window to your liking. As well as supporting gamepad or mouse & keyboard navigation in the Steam Big Picture interface, the new app lets you use the gaze-and-pinch interaction system of Vision Pro to launch games, looking at an entry in your Steam library with your eyes to select it and pinching your thumb to your index finger to launch it. Valve also says the native visionOS client "improves network performance" compared to the iPad app. Testing the app out on Vision Pro, I found the 4K quality to be a massive improvement over the iPad app, and the latency feels lower too. The gaze integration, however, awkwardly snaps a mouse-like cursor between library items, so I disabled that and stuck to navigating with a connected Bluetooth gamepad. No VR Support The glaring omission, of course, is PC VR support. While Steam Link on Meta Quest, Pico, and Vive Focus Vision headsets lets you play your SteamVR games, the visionOS client is entirely limited to flatscreen content. There seem to be two distinct versions of "Steam Link", one for flatscreen devices and the other for VR headsets, and Apple Vision Pro's client is very much so a variant of the former. It seems similar to the tvOS version, with the above-noted XR additions. Third-party developers have addressed the demand for PC VR streaming on Apple Vision Pro, though. The open-source PC VR streaming tool ALVR has been available on the App Store since a few months after the M2 Vision Pro launched, and recently Clear XR and KRVR have launched with support for the foveated streaming feature introduced in visionOS 26.4. X-Plane and iRacing also recently launched their own dedicated visionOS clients for their PC VR simulators, also leveraging Nvidia's CloudXR, offering seamless automatic connection as well as automatic alignment and passthrough cutout of your physical peripherals, your HOTAS or racing wheel setup. 14. The rumors were true: The next game in Sony’s revamped God of War series follows no less a hero than Faye, the second wife of Kratos and the mother of Atreus. She proves to be just as adept at combat as her husband and son, facing off against multiple gods of war from various pantheons in an afterlife realm called the Everwhen. The game takes place concurrently with the 2018 God of War, right after Kratos and Atreus burn Faye’s body on the pyre. She awakens inexplicably in a strange dimension, and seems to be in realm between pantheons where dead gods reside. Realizing that her husband and son aren’t safe, she must attempt to find her way back home to help them with the help of various strange characters (including what appears to be a Gelatinous Cube from Dungeons & Dragons). Deborah Ann Woll reprises her roll as Faye from God of War: Ragnarok, and she’s as much of a beast in combat as any god of war, with the ability to air-juggle her opponents and channel giant magic. Her primary weapon is a sword protected by a sentient ribbon called Rue. Sony revealed the game during its State of Play event, which began with a look at Marvel’s Wolverine. Faye, or Laufey to give her her proper name from the title, is no less brutal and violent than Logan, bookending the show with her gameplay reveal. The game is presently in development with no release date. The post Sony Santa Monica reveals God of War: Laufey appeared first on GamesBeat. View the full article

  17. KRVR, a $15 visionOS app, lets you play any SteamVR game from your PC on Apple Vision Pro with foveated streaming. This is not the only visionOS app for playing your SteamVR games, and nor is it even the first to support the Foveated Streaming feature Apple introduced in visionOS 26.4. ALVR, which has been available on the App Store since a few months after the M2 Vision Pro launched, supports playing SteamVR games from your PC, and in March a ********* software engineer released Clear XR, which lets you play OpenXR games from your PC. Both are free and open source, with the ALVR client available on the App Store and Clear XR available on TestFlight, while both have a streaming server on GitHub. KRVR is a paid closed-source app, which, with its most recent updates, delivers the two best aspects of ALVR and Clear XR in one solution: it lets you play any SteamVR game, even non-OpenXR titles, with foveated streaming to maximize visual quality in the region of the display you're currently looking at. As with Clear XR, KRVR's developer leverages Nvidia's CloudXR SDK, which has full ready-to-go support for Apple's foveated streaming feature. What Is Foveated Streaming? Guided by eye tracking, foveated streaming prioritizes image resolution and compression quality where your eye is currently looking. It's a term you may have heard in the context of Valve's Steam Frame, where it's a fundamental always-on feature of its PC VR streaming offering, delivered via the USB PC wireless adapter by default. Note that foveated streaming is not the same as foveated rendering, though the two techniques can be used alongside each other. While foveated rendering involves the title on the host device actually rendering the area of each frame you're currently looking at with higher resolution, foveated streaming refers to sending that area to the headset with higher image quality than the rest of the frame. Foveated rendering happens in the game engine, while foveated streaming is applied to already finished frames. The $15 app has a relatively polished interface and a few standout features compared to ALVR, which still doesn't support foveated streaming, and Clear XR, which hasn't been updated since March: Passthrough Cutouts: Similar to Virtual Desktop on Quest, KRVR lets you trace out portions of your space, which will display real-world passthrough instead of VR. This lets you bring your racing wheel, HOTAS, desk, or other physical areas of your room into VR. You can edit these passthrough cutout zones at any time.PC Desktop: You can view and interact with your PC monitors, with multi-monitor support. While playing a VR game, you can interact with your PC's other physical monitors. As with ALVR and Clear XR, Sony's PlayStation VR2 Sense tracked controllers are fully supported, though you can also use other input devices like a gamepad or mouse and keyboard. The tradeoff of using Nvidia's CloudXR SDK is that it exclusively supports Nvidia's Ada and Blackwell GPU architectures, meaning RTX 40-series and 50-series graphics cards. The current PC I'm using has an RTX 3090, so unfortunately, I can't test KRVR at the moment. If you do have the required GPU and an Apple Vision Pro and want to try it, you can find the KRVR visionOS client on the App Store for $15, and the Windows PC server app on GitHub – though note that the source code is not available. 20. As I flee the South Of France’s sweltering sun and enter Ubisoft Montpellier’s studio doors, I’m immediately reminded of how wonderfully weird Ubisoft once was. Flanked between a Rayman standee and a slightly dog-eared Peter Jackson’s King Kong statue is the studio’s vast and endearingly bizarre back catalog, proudly wall-mounted for all to see. Peering at framed copies of Beyond Good and Evil and Beowulf, near-forgotten god game From Dust, multiple entries of Just Dance, my beloved Zombi U, and Tom Clancy’s Advanced Warfighter, it’s hard not to feel a pang of nostalgia for the creative freedom afforded to developers in previous console generations. Today’s studio tour, however, isn’t about celebrating Ubisoft’s past – it’s about giving the long-dormant Rayman a future. Revealed during Sony’s June State of Play, Ubisoft’s MIA mascot is coming back to consoles and PC in October, starring in Rayman’s first new game in 14 years. Read More... View the full article
