  1. Riot Games released its latest major update for 2XKO, its fighting game based on the Runeterra universe, adding the latest champion in Akali, while also adding new content and massive balance changes to the roster. After a very lengthy development cycle, 2XKO finally launched for PC and console players, first arriving in an "early access" state for PC players in 2025, and then launching in full for everyone at the start of 2026. Whether you're craving a big open world adventure, like what you can get from Assassin's Creed Valhalla, or a smaller indie game to jump into, like Planet of Lana, there's a good variety to choose from this month. There's even more to enjoy with a Humble Choice membership alongside the monthly drop of games, too. As mentioned before, April also comes with a free month of IGN Plus, which allows you to turn off ads on the website, score some free games, and more. On top of that, 5% of your Humble Choice membership also goes to support a charity. For April, your money will be going towards REVERB. If you aren't super into April's game lineup, the good news is you can also skip a month or cancel your membership at any point. But if this month's lineup has caught your eye, why not add them to your PC library and have some fun new games to play this spring? 4. One Crimson Desert fan has secured its Platinum trophy after spending 305 hours since the game came out — leaving fans of the game shocked and concerned. A Platinum trophy is awarded to PlayStation users who obtain all other trophies in a game. TioZer0, who has a number of Platinum trophies under their belt already, has been explaining how and why they did this after posting a screenshot of their achievement on reddit, which subsequently went viral. [Crimson Desert] #534 The Adventures of John Desert, Crim's son. byu/TioZer0 inTrophies .reddit-embed-wrapper iframe { margin-left: 0 !important; } As TioZer0’s achievement made its way to social media, Pearl Abyss PR and marketing chief Will Powers expressed his disbelief, pointing out that Crimson Desert had only been out for 428 hours when TioZer0 nabbed the Platinum. As one redditor worked out, Crimson Desert came out 18 days before TioZer0 posted their achievement. Given there are 24 hours in a day, TioZer0 spent 70% of waking hours playing Crimson Desert, or roughly 13 hours a day. “I went for the blind approach and it took me 305 hours,” TioZer0 explained. “Over 60 of those hours were hunting the insects and fish at the end, so this number is PRETTY inflated. With the datamined information now available in some websites and guides now having more information, anyone can get it at around 130~150 hours.” As many have pointed out, such an intense gaming marathon can’t be good for anyone's well being, but TioZer0 defended the amount of time they put into the game over such a condensed *******. “As long as I eat well, I don't really feel the need to sleep so much, so I played 56 hours straight and slept eight, repeating until done and only stopping to shower or to buy food," they explained. "I also only needed to work 16 hours during these days, which is also something that makes it easier to complete the game earlier. “Yes, this is extremely unhealthy, I know, and I don't recommend it to anyone even if you can handle it like me.” Since the original post blew up earlier this week, TioZer0 has continued to respond to comments containing varying levels of concern. “Well done, but please my friend go outside and get some sunlight and fresh air,” one person said. “I completely stopped playing after the Platinum and the very next day I went around the city donating chocolate to children on Easter with the NGO I currently run,” TioZer0 countered. “Don't worry it's not a habit, just a one-time marathon.” Then: “I didn't really RUSH through it since I didn't skip any content. I enjoyed it like anyone else, but with it compressed into big sessions instead of many smaller ones. It was my average pace, the only difference was that I was skipping some nights of sleep and not doing other hobbies during this ‘marathon.’ “I was off work, gf abroad with her parents and I'm living far from family and friends atm, so the stars just aligned for me to no-life a game these days.” TioZer0 then responded to the “haters” who had questioned their effort: “I've never received so much hate for free, it's sad to see how many people like to wish bad on strangers for no reason at all.” “I enjoyed every second of it,” they continued. “And it was a one-time marathon, not years without leaving the house. It's not that deep.” Gaming marathons are nothing new, of course, although there is more scrutiny on their impact on participants than there used to be. Guinness World Records, for example, has a number of rules for would-be record-breakers when it comes to gaming marathons, including age restrictions and rest breaks. Amid the debate about the rights and wrongs of TioZer0's achievement, some are asking for tips on how to secure the Platinum. “Get the Abyssal Cubes as soon as possible,” TioZer0 suggested. “Don't neglect your camp comrades management system (dispatch missions) so you won't have to grind harder later and please PLEASE SEARCH FOR THE INSECTS AND FISH ONLINE, there's already tons of information for them on datamined websites, don't waste days like me cause it's not worth it the BS rng and spots for the fish.” Overall, it sounds like TioZer0 enjoyed the experience. “I just don't give it a 10 because of the fishing, but it's an overall incredibly fun game to complete and no missables or online trophies make it even better! 9/10 and I'll keep playing even after the Platinum.” We’ve got plenty more on Crimson Desert, including a story on how the NPCs are the stars of the show, a hidden food consequence system that a modder has restored, and an impressive character creator mod. We recommend you take a look at our guide to Things to Do First in Crimson Desert, plus Things Crimson Desert Doesn’t Tell You (we’ve got 28 and counting!). 5. 007 First Lightis almost here, but the latest update confirms that some fans will have to wait longer than others. 10. In a moment that would make even Lassie and Skippy proud, one Nvidia GPU owner has potentially been saved from a totally destroyed PC, or perhaps worse, by the intervention of their **** cat. Disturbed from some quality time on the loo by the meows of their unnamed feline, the owner was alerted to the smell of their Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 doing what it does all too often: melt power connectors. While it isn't clear if the GPU cable was truly imminently going to burst into flames, and there are no full-on house fires yet attributed to RTX 4090 and other high-power graphics melting their cables, there are multiple documented accounts of the cards melting, smoldering, and catching fire, so there's every potential that this cat's intervention could have saved a house or human life. The RTX 4090, and its successor, the RTX 5090, might well be the best graphics cards of their time, but this is yet another case of these extremely powerful Nvidia GPUs potentially being the cause of a disaster. 14. No Man’s Sky’s latest update, Xeno Arena, is doing its best Pokémon impression by letting you raise, train and battle the alien creatures found across the universe. “Most of the planets you’ve visited in your travels have always been teeming with wildlife,” developer Hello Games said, “and now, for the first time, those creatures are not just your companions, but your squad and maybe your champions!” The update adds turn-based creature battles to the veteran space game for the first time. The idea is you explore the universe, assemble a team of creature companions, perfect their genetic makeup, and test their mettle at simulated combat arenas. There are hundreds of unique battle abilities, and you get to challenge new alien characters, with daily challenges and more to keep you going. Patch notes, courtesy of the No Man's Sky website, are below. Here’s Hello Games chief Sean Murray with more: "We have this whole universe filled with an infinite variety of creatures, and we've added to that for ten years now. You have everything from dinosaurs to flying cows to robots to gaseous blobs. We started with this thought that you can discover them and name them... but what if all that variety had a gameplay purpose? What if you could collect them, breed them, have them as pets... but also battle them? "We are huge fans of Pokémon, Palworld and **** battling in World of Warcraft. Now when discovering a rare robotic creature in a far flung purple system planet, you can check their abilities, and for instance discover a powerful neutron blast attack. Suddenly it brings a new dimension to exploration. Rare creatures and beautiful pets become something exciting to show off in the Arena. "These holo-arenas can be found in Space Stations and in the Nexus. Players can battle their pets against friends, strangers and NPCs for huge rewards. It's a genuine path for players to progress in the game, with daily challenges to compete in for ultimate rewards. This is an entire multiplayer game all of its own, with absolutely tons of depth, now existing within No Man's Sky. "Each species has unique elemental affinities tied to their xeno species and linked to their home world. A blob creature evolved on a toxic planet has different abilities to a flying dino born on a frozen moon. Rarer biomes can be harder to find but yield rarer creatures, which are much harder to prepare a team to battle against. "Some creatures are extraordinarily rare - legendary variants with unusual and exceptional stats that can be incredibly valuable. Sharing knowledge and creature locations with other players opens up its own fascinating economy. "Once found, creatures can be trained, or can be bred and even genetically modified to create new variants and unique colours. Feeding, bonding and sparring raises their abilities over time. The satisfaction of watching a scrappy little creature you found on a desolate moon grow into a fearsome arena champion is something we’re really proud of. "The Xeno Arena itself is a new multiplayer-enabled structure you can construct and open to other travellers. Challenge friends to creature battles, host tournaments, or travel the galaxy taking on other players’ arena champions. Ranks, leagues and future seasonal rewards promise to keep that competition alive. "2026 represents 10 years since we launched and I couldn’t be prouder. For any game to reach such a milestone is a privilege. It wouldn’t be possible without your continued support and we genuinely appreciate it. "Our journey continues." Hello Games Update 6.3 patch notes:The Holo-Arena and Creature BattlesAdded turn-based tactical Creature Battles, with all-new music, visual effects, cinematic cameras, and combat log.Players with adopted creatures can now assemble their companions into battle teams, and participate in simulated fights against creatures owned by alien lifeforms or other players. Each creature has a unique set of battle moves, influenced by their species and native climate. Battle moves include attacks, heals, stuns, shields, status effects, and more.Creatures in battle may sometimes dodge incoming attacks, perform bonus moves, or perform critical hits.Companions participating in battles will earn experience, gradually improving their combat prowess.Added a new interface for modifying the genetics of owned companion creatures, allowing upgrade of agility, health and combat battle traits.Added multiplayer Holo-Arena tables to the Space Anomaly, where players can challenge other Travellers to Creature Battles.Added Holo-Arena tables to planetary outposts, planetary archive buildings, space stations, and some settlement buildings, where players can challenge alien lifeforms to a Creature Battle.Alien lifeforms playing Creature Battles at space station Holo-Arenas are seasoned system champions. 15. IO Interactive has delayed the Nintendo Switch 2 version of its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light. In a statement released via social media today, IO reconfirmed the game's previously-delayed launch date for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S (May 27, a date once held by GTA 6) before going on to note that the Switch 2 version was now set for "later this summer." The original plan had been for 007 First Light to arrive on all platforms at the same time (and originally on March 27). IO delayed the game back in December for all platforms, though had maintained its plan was to still launch the game simultaneously across all consoles. Exactly why the Switch 2 version will now arrive months later than on other formats is unclear. Today's statement avoids using the word "delay" at all, and simply offers the following by way of explanation: "We're excited to see players discovering James Bond's reimagined origin story, and we are looking forward to bringing you the best game experience possible across all platforms." Could it be that the Switch 2 version, in particular, is proving problematic? Nintendo fans are still waiting for word on Borderlands 4's Switch 2 port. There's no sign of Starfield yet on Switch 2, either, despite the game (and other Bethesda titles) arriving on PS5. Or could it be that all versions of the game simply need more time than IO anticipated even back in December? With the Switch 2 version presumably sidelined for now, resources can likely be reprioritized for the formats with ******* userbases. Without an official explanation by IO, we can only speculate. 007 First Light is, of course, the new Bond adventure from Hitman developer IO Interactive, with a brand-new origin story for the MI6 agent. 30-year-old Dexter: Original Sin star Patrick Gibson will portray the youngest on-screen 007 to date, alongside a starry cast of secret agent besties and villains played by Eternals' Gemma Chan, The Walking Dead's Lennie James, and The Hunger Games' Lenny Kravitz. We've got plenty more on 007 First Light, including a report on how Daniel Craig’s face was put into a Hitman map in order to secure the Bond rights, and how Queen Elizabeth II’s passing affected First Light’s development. And be sure to check out our extensive 007 First Light preview full of gameplay and story details. Tom Phillips is IGN's News Editor. 18. With the release of the Whispers of the Wind update, the last princess missing from the game has arrived in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Pocahontas is here, but finding and recruiting her to your village can be rather tricky. The vast majority of villagers are unlocked by entering and exploring their special Realms, which are worlds themed after the films they come from. Some characters, though, are lost in secret areas around the main valley, as is the case with Pocahontas. These types of villagers are the trickiest to locate, as the journey for finding each one is unique. If you're struggling to track down this iconic princess, here’s how to unlock Pocahontas in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Table of contentsHow to get Pocahontas in Disney Dreamlight ValleyUnlock Pocahontas requirements in Disney Dreamlight ValleyCheck your mailboxComplete the Whispers in the Wind questHow to get Pocahontas in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid To unlock Pocahontas and get her to join your valley as an official villager in DDV, you need to: Complete all required prerequisites. Check your mailbox. Complete the Whispers in the Wind quest.Unlock Pocahontas requirements in Disney Dreamlight Valley Before you can actually start the process of unlocking Pocahontas, there are three key prerequisites you must meet first. These requirements aren't too bad, especially compared to those needed for other characters like Lumiere and Cogsworth or The Forgotten, but they can still take a bit of time to tackle, especially if you're just starting off. The three requirements you must have met to start the unlocking process are as follows. Unlock Moana. You need the help of this seafaring villager to track down Pocahontas, as you'll have to venture out to sea and follow the mysterious wind to find the missing princess. Moana can be unlocked after opening the Moana Realm for 3,000 Dreamlight and completing both the After the Storm and How Far You'll Go missions with her. Unlock the Forest of Valor biome. This area can be unlocked for 3,000 Dreamlight. Unlock the Dazzle Beach biome. It costs 1,000 Dreamlight to gain entry to this region. Check your mailbox Once the requirements have been met, check your mailbox for a letter from Moana called "I've found something strange...," then head down to Dazzle Beach to start hunting for the Glowing Algae she mentions. You're looking for a glowing blue and red seaweed-looking item that spawns randomly in this biome. Picking it up triggers the Whispers in the Wind quest. Screenshot by Destructoid Complete the Whispers in the Wind quest Next up, you need to work your way through the Whispers of the Wind quest. This guide is a work in progress and is receiving live updates as we work on unlocking her. The post How to unlock Pocahontas in Disney Dreamlight Valley appeared first on Destructoid. 19. The open-world criminal action game feels a bit like a thing of the past in 2026. Games like Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row, ******, and Sleeping Dogs routinely used to tell a fun story while allowing you to run roughshod across a fictional city with tight driving and shooting gameplay, but the prevalence of that style of game has died down in recent years. Enter Samson. Kind of. From the original creator of Just Cause, Samson feels like an attempt to revive the vibe of these digestible crime-driven action games with some pretty cool ideas, but poor execution within makes it feel like not much more than a missed opportunity. Wipe away the debt Image via Liquid Swords I don't think it's quite accurate to compare Samson to a game like GTA directly, despite its parallels that gamers picked up on from the title's debut. This is a quicker and more condensed open-world action game, or as the devs describe it, one with "no padding and no filler." But unfortunately, that did not result in a better experience for me. Samson is an ex-**** fresh out of prison, a getaway driver who tried to bite off more than he could chew, and it took some big help from his sister to get him free. She's now being held by some bad people as collateral in return, however, and a mountain of debt stands between the siblings after a job gone wrong that landed him in jail in the first place. Playing as Samson in the hard-knocks city of Tyndalston, the open-world game mostly amounts to an odd-job simulator with some unique time mechanics. Samson operates on a day-night cycle where every day is a race against the clock to earn money to pay off the debts and save your sister. But with $100,000 owed, you'll need to complete a gaggle of minor criminal tasks to make it happen. Each job requires something called Action Points, and Samson only has so many of those to use on a daily basis. At the end of each day, there's a daily required payment towards your debt, and if it's not paid, then interest begins to accrue. It's a good lesson for life, but in video game form, it's just stressful and doesn’t add to the fun. Waking up at noon every day, Samson has a number of paid crime jobs around the map to complete and earn money, plus XP to put towards skills and abilities. These jobs range from beating people up, delivering packages on time, being a getaway driver for random crimes, stealing things, or following people until you can beat them up. Other than a minor roguelike mechanic that gives different buffs depending on the time of day you do things, that's really about it. After just a few days in-game, you'll come across the vast majority of what most of the gameplay has to offer. Image via Liquid Swords The second main character in Samson is the lead character's car, which is used as a battering ram and getaway vehicle, and is a general annoyance. For example, some missions require you to chase enemies in their cars and ram them until they're destroyed. But your car takes damage, too, and if it's totaled, you'll need to pay a hefty fee to get it repaired. And that money comes straight from your debt-repayment collection, so it's easy for things to snowball fast. Outside of a ton of these menial jobs, there are also story missions that advance the plot, which ends up being nothing remarkable, if not sometimes entertaining. But due to the lack of time, Action Points, and money, you're often forced to choose between making cash to continue to make your payments or playing a story mission to keep the narrative moving. The idea of the debt system and playing against the clock sounds way cooler than it actually is. Overall, I found it to be more of a hassle than anything. Your mileage may vary. Screenshot by Destructoid The third main character in the game is Tyndalston, the city Samson hails from. You can add more Action Points by finding points of interest around the city that will allow him to commentate on his surroundings, further fleshing out the downtrodden and crime-ridden town he's returned to. And it's this crimeworld where Samson resides. When walking around the city, though, some dialogue options present themselves from random NPCs, kicking off side mission-like Stories. These are arguably my favorite parts of the game because they are what most make the city feel alive, but unfortunately, they can be easily missed if you're not actively seeking out people or scenes to interact with. In the end, I felt myself wanting more of this and less of the repetitive crime jobs around town. Stalled out Image via Liquid Swords While on your journey to pay off the huge amount of owed money, Samson's two main sources of gameplay are driving and hand-to-hand combat. Unfortunately, neither feels great nor much fun, with both liable to cause varying amounts of frustration throughout, including missions bugging out entirely for me on multiple discouraging occasions. Driving in Samson feels really wonky, with the car handling being a real struggle (especially after it takes some damage), even after hours of practice. Samson's car is kind of a piece of *****, and having to repair it each time it takes too much damage makes certain missions feel like a slog to deal with, especially as it breaks down or stalls out mid-mission and forces you into failure and a waste of Action Points. If you have no money to repair it, it perpetually remains at around 10 percent health, making every high-speed chase or fast corner a total gamble. The hand-to-hand combat is worse, though. It's buggy, clunky, and sometimes unresponsive, making for some truly annoying moments, especially as enemies surround you. Samson can perform a light attack and a strong attack, and he can also parry enemies, but there's no way to properly focus specific foes, and it just feels sloppy in comparison to the melee combat of better games that it's trying to emulate. It feels like it's trying to be like Batman Arkham's style of combat, but with a serious lack of polish. Sometimes, while trying to fistfight enemies, they will clip into nearby vehicles or fences and teleport on top of them, leaving them out of range. There's no stickiness or weight to the general combat, and it feels borderline non-functional at times. Samson doesn't use guns at all, either. It's all about melee combat, which is mainly hand-to-hand, but he can sometimes find melee weapons. These don't feel much better than his fists, so there's little variety in combat encounters. Tyndalston feels like a lot of missing potential, too. The open world is crafted well enough and looks really nice, but there's just not a ton to do in it outside of the game's main storyline that takes about 10 hours to complete, give or take, with some side quests and collectibles to seek out along the way. And it ends up lasting longer than that if you struggle to keep your money up and have to grind to be able to afford playing a story mission. There's also a constant police presence in the city, and some of the decisions made throughout the story have repercussions in how the world reacts to you at points in the story. Otherwise, the only other enemies you have to fight along the way is the vehicle's unforgiving handling or buggy combat. Screenshot by Destructoid Failing a mission for whatever reason often means wasting that day's Action Points and likely missing out on money that you need to keep the payments flowing. It feels a little bit like real life at times if you've ever found yourself struggling to stay on top of bills. I don't really find that too fun on our real world Earth, let alone in Tyndalston. I really wanted to enjoy Samson, and it's not entirely devoid of entertainment value, but there are just too many negative factors going against it. I could deal with the mounting pressure of the debt as a gameplay mechanic if it didn't mean sometimes sacrificing the plot’s momentum. It'd also be easier to digest if the driving was satisfying or if the hand-to-hand combat felt slick, or even if there was some more variety in the mission types, but the execution of nearly every feature in this game feels like a misfire. 20. Pocahontas has arrived, but it's not clear where exactly she is in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Like many other villagers, she's a bit lost, so it's up to you to find and rescue her. This journey kicks off with the Whispers in the Wind quest. Since this missing princess is hidden somewhere around the main valley rather than in a Realm, the process for finding and recruiting her looks different from any other quest series you've tackled so far. It can be rather tricky to work through on your own, so here's a complete walkthrough for the Whispers in the Wind quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Table of contentsHow to complete Whispers in the Wind in Disney Dreamlight ValleyBring the Glowing Algae to MoanaUse the boating equipment in Moana's houseInvestigate the mystery island for the Swirling Flower Petal WindsHow to complete Whispers in the Wind in Disney Dreamlight Valley Screenshot by Destructoid Bring the Glowing Algae to Moana The Whispers in the Wind quest kicks off as soon as you find the Glowing Algae in the Dazzle Beach biome, which is the first step in the process for unlocking Pocahontas. Once you have this item, track down Moana to chat about it. Then, venture into her house, wherever you have it placed in the valley, and talk to her again to figure out what to do next. Use the boating equipment in Moana's house After chatting with Moana inside her home, a white, sparkling spot will appear in the corner of her house, close to the tropical bench. Interact with the sparkling spot to use the boating equipment in Moana's house, thus officially kicking off your journey. You'll then find yourself on a mysterious island, so chat with Moana there to figure out your next steps. Investigate the mystery island for the Swirling Flower Petal Winds Moana spotted Swirling Flower Petal Winds around the island, and is certain they'll help you figure out what's going on, so you need to track this mysterious phenomenon down. From where you landed on the island with the boat, head straight past the crafting station and down the beach slightly. Stop when you spot a lone rock on your right, and turn and walk up the hill right behind it. At the top of this hill, you'll find the Swirling Flower Petal Winds. Chat with Moana next to the mysterious wind to discuss what comes next. She asks you to talk to the wind just like she does with the ocean, so select any of the dialogue options available to you to progress. 23. When your predecessor is considered by some to be one of the greatest games of the generation, that’s a lot to live up to. That’s the challenge faced by Forza Horizon 6. Rarely has a video game series been so consistently brilliant over so many titles, but Playground Games’ open-world racing series has been so well-loved since the first entry in 2012 – while its ‘big brother’ Forza Motorsport has underdelivered numerous times in recent years – that what started off as a spin-off has essentially become the main event. As a result, Forza Horizon 6 is now one of the most eagerly anticipated games not only for Xbox and PC players, but also PS5 owners who have already been told Xbox’s racer is coming to their system later in the year.
