2025 is definitely the year of the Toxic Avenger. The long-awaited movie reboot starring Peter Dinklage is finally hitting theaters in September, and the Toxic Crusaders beat-em-up game is slated for release in Q2 2025. Not to be outdone, AHOY Comics is in the midst of "Toxic Mess Summer," as Toxie teams up with heroes from across the AHOY Universe. IGN can exclusively reveal that AHOY will follow up Toxie Team-Up with a Toxic Crusaders series, one that, like the game, aims to capitalize on the nostalgia surrounding the classic animated series. Check out the Retroware game variant cover to Toxic Crusaders #1 below: And see artist AR Sullivan's variant cover to Toxic Crusaders #1 below: Toxic Crusaders is a five-issue miniseries written by franchise veteran (and Pulitzer prize finalist) Matt Bors and illustrated by newcomer Tristan Wright. The series pairs Toxie with No-Zone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, and a brand-new character called Fungirl. “In the aftermath of the chemical spill that created Toxie, other mutants arose — and they have united to wage war against an alien conspiracy,” said Bors in AHOY's press release. “We are taking everything from the original Toxic Crusaders cartoon —gross mutations, evil aliens, and over-the-top ecological action — to bring readers a must-read mutant monthly.” "Everyone at AHOY Comics is delighted to publish a world-famous group of characters who are as well-meaning, violent, and frankly disgusting as we ourselves wish we could be,” said AHOY Comics Editor-in-Chief Tom Peyer. “We’re also delighted to debut the work of talented artist Tristan Wright. Matt found some of Tristan's work online and shared it with me — and we both thought, where has he been all our lives? It's solid, imaginative, amusing work, and we intend to extract as much as we can, like the cold-blooded capitalists we are." Toxic Crusaders #1 will be released on September 10, 2025, just after The Toxic Avenger movie hits theaters. To tide you over, check out some exclusive new screenshots of the Toxic Crusaders game: In IGN's review of The Toxic Avenger, Amelia Emberwing writes, "Troma and Legendary’s partnership on The Toxic Avenger’s 2023 'not remake' delivers a mixed bag. Director Macon Blair and the rest of the creative team may have more money to play with than Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman’s 1984 original, but it struggles to deliver on the schlocky goodness of Troma’s stronger films. Still, what it lacks in so-bad-it’s-good silliness it makes up for with its heart and mostly practical slaughterfests. Kevin Bacon and Peter Dinklage having an absolute blast in their roles doesn’t hurt, either." Jesse is a mild-mannered staff writer for IGN. Day one patches are the curse that comes with the modern age of video games because development doesn't end at the point of printing the discs we play them on any more. It sucks, it's bad for preservation, but we're stuck with them. However, it's also a bit funny that Elden Ring Nightreign, due out tomorrow, May 30th, sort of has a day minus one patch that's already available. Of course, unless you're a journalist, YouTuber, or very friendly with your local video game store clerk who hooked you up with an early copy of the Soulslike, this won't concern you for a good few hours yet. Back before FF14 won my heart, it was Star Wars: The Old Republic, not World of Warcraft, that first sold me on the idea of MMORPGs. I already had a lot of love for the galaxy far, far away, and while it's not explicitly Knights of The Old Republic 3, SWTOR does have the storytelling chops to follow in the footsteps of the iconic Bioware and Obsidian RPGs. Add in the ability to experience those tales in co-op with your friends, and its availability as a free Steam game, and it's certainly worth trying. To give you one more reason, it's just had a fresh injection of life. Read the rest of the story... I was 20 minutes into the demo before I realised that Becoming Saint is that most terrible of things, another roguelike, but that's OK, because by then I'd been burned at the stake for heresy after failing to convert the homely town of Spoleto. The presiding Inquisitor very kindly let me off 100 years of purgatory because I'd mostly rebelled against the Emperor, not the Pope. But then he slapped on 68 years for "minor sins". I'm not sure which sins. Possibly my being a bit parsimonious with the bread rations on the road to Spoleto? Possibly my favouring the company of a majestic wolf, "strong as he is beautiful"? Regardless, the happy ending here is that after 968 years in purgatory, I was eventually canonised as a Saint in the year 2317. Today, 29th May, is in fact Saint Edwina's day. If you would like Saint Edwina's blessing, know that she accepts all major credit cards and is also happy to be paid in vouchers for Cafe Neros. Read more View the full article

Ahead of the launch of Elden Ring Nightreign, developer FromSoftware has warned PC gamers that they may experience framerate drops if they’re using "the latest graphics cards." In a vague note to fans included with Elden Ring Nightreigh’s day-one patch notes, FromSoftware said it was investigating the cause, and suggested those affected drop the graphics settings down from the default "High" to "Medium" or "Low" and lowering the screen resolution, as well as installing the latest drivers for your graphics card. Here’s the statement: We have confirmed that some PC configurations using the latest graphics cards may experience framerate drops. We are currently investigating the cause. In the meantime, If you experience significant framerate drops, you may be able to resolve it by setting the graphics settings from the default "High" to "Medium" or "Low" and lowering the screen resolution, as well as installing the latest drivers for your graphics card. FromSoftware also issued troubleshooting advice for the PC version, suggesting those who run into issues verify the integrity of the game files: Troubleshooting for the PC version of Elden Ring Nightreign: - If issues such as being unable to start the game occur on the PC version, they can sometimes be resolved by performing the following steps in Steam: Go to "Library" > right-click on "ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN" > select "Properties" > select "Installed Files" > and execute "Verify Integrity of Game Files." The multiplayer spin-off is set to go live on May 29 or May 30, depending on your timezone. Check out the Elden Ring Nightreign global release times for more. In IGN's recent interview with Elden Ring Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki, the development lead discussed the choice to lean on solos and trios as the core experience options. When asked why there's no option for a pair of players to drop in together without a matchmade third player, Ishizaki said it was overlooked. "The simple answer is that this is simply something that was overlooked during development as just a two-player option, so we're very sorry about that," said Ishizaki. "As we said before, we set out to make this a multiplayer co-op game for three players, balanced for three players, so that was the main focus and it's at the core of Nightreign. "Of course, I myself as a player understand that and often want times where I'm just playing myself, so this is something that we considered from the start," Ishizaki continued. "And so we did put a lot of effort into creating this experience that was playable for solo players in as much as the rules and new systems allowed. So in putting all our efforts into that aspect, we kind of overlooked and neglected the duos aspect, but this is something that we are looking at and considering for post-launch support as well." So if you're playing with just your favorite duos partner, be ready to accept a random third into your lives. Who knows? You might match up with someone pretty good at the game. Bethesda's games are always ambitious, but the more recent release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered highlights a key way in which Starfield has regressed. Oblivion Remastered makes some important changes to the 2006 original, but most of its gameplay systems are intact, including that which dictates its NPC behavior. The original Oblivion was the pioneer release for what Bethesda calls Radiant AI, and it was subsequently a staple of the developer's sandbox RPGs – until it didn't appear at all in Starfield. Kinetic Games has confirmed that June 24 will be a very exciting day for all the Phasmophobia fans out there. The developer has revealed a massive new Phasmophobiaupdate, which is set to drop in late June. View the full article
Phasmophobia's next major update is officially slated for release on June 24, and it's completely overhauling how a variety of major gameplay features work. The Chronicle update is reworking how evidence collection functions, adding a new type of equipment, and so much more. This update is by far one of the biggest ones we've seen yet, as each new type of equipment completely reshapes how investigations function. The new item included in this one is a Sound Recorder, and ghost hunting is about to get a whole lot scarier because of it. Image via Kinetic Games The Sound Recorder brings with it the ability to capture sound evidence in any contract you tackle in Phasmophobia. Like all other equipment, this item has three Tiers, with each one steadily upping the quality of the object, making it easier and more efficient to use. With this item, you can record all kinds of paranormal sounds, including ones from ghost events, the Spirit Box, Parabolic Microphone, and all other forms of audio you encounter throughout your investigations. Since the Sound Recorder is adding an entirely new way to capture audio evidence, the journal is undergoing a complete redesign to go with it. The photos tab is replaced by a more general media tab. It's organized into three sections—photos, videos, and sound recordings—to efficiently capture all forms of evidence you come across. The value and labeling system for evidence will be vastly upgraded in this update, so it should finally give you proper rewards for capturing quality evidence. Before this update, you could capture a full-on ghost photo and not even have it recognized. With Chronicle, unique evidence will be treated as it should be, which means plenty of cash and XP earned for the first capture of each evidence. Image via Kinetic Games With the new equipment and gameplay systems combined, every moment is an opportunity to capture compelling evidence. You can record live footage as ghosts throw objects around, photograph some properly labeled ghost models, replay chilling Spirit Box noises, track Ghost Orbs, and so much more. Investigations are overall much more immersive, detailed, and dedicated to rewarding you for your efforts, thanks to these improvements. The Chronicle update releases on June 24th, and all of the new content will be live to explore as soon as it's available. As exciting as this update is, there's also plenty more to look forward to throughout the year after it, some of which was teased alongside the Chronicle update announcement. Phasmophobia's next planned update is a complete rework of the Grafton Farmhouse map, similar to the Bleasdale Farmhouse overhaul that launched back in March 2025. While Bleasdale Farmhouse got a fancy upgrade, Grafton Farmhouse is getting the exact opposite treatment with a much more dilapidated and run-down redesign. A sneak peek of what one area will look like was shared alongside the Chronicle update news, and it already looks downright terrifying. Image via Kinetic Games Beyond this update, there's also a new small map in the works, the complete gampley overhaul with Horror 2.0, and the biggest update yet in the works, so there's lots to look forward to throughout 2025 if you're seeking some fresh spooky experiences.
