  1. With so many diverse MMORPG worlds to choose from these days, it can be hard to pick one. I've personally lost weeks to Final Fantasy 14's Eorzea, but World of Warcraft's Azeroth and ESO's Tamriel continue to invite me back, and I just can't say no. Then there's the continent of Tyria, the land of Guild Wars 2. This free-to-play MMO has been going strong for more than a decade now, with last year's Janthir Wilds expansion introducing player housing and the two-handed spear weapon type. Now, JW's third and final major content update is here, called Absolution, with plenty of reasons to jump back in. Read the rest of the story... 3. There are a lot of adorable critters running around the Valley and Eternity Isle in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and each of them has its own unique tastes and behaviour. Each critter can become a companion if they trust you enough, but earning that trust is easier said than done. Whether you’re desperate for a Raccoon to follow you everywhere you go or want a Cobra to be your best bud, you need to learn their likes and dislikes as well as how to approach each animal. While some critters don’t mind your presence, others will repeatedly run away and entice you into chasing them. There’s a lot to remember, but it soon becomes second nature, especially for your personal favorites. Let's uncover every Disney Dreamlight Valley critter's favorite foods and some tips for approaching each animal. Table of contentsHow to befriend critters in Dreamlight ValleyHow to befriend critters on Eternity IsleHow to befriend critters in Storybook ValeHow to befriend critters in Dreamlight ValleyHow to feed Squirrels Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachPlazaPeanutsSquirrels don’t run away, so you can simply approach them directly. Squirrels are the first critters you'll encounter in Disney Dreamlight Valley. They live in the Plaza and have a preference for peanuts. You can purchase peanuts from Remy's restaurant shop. Squirrels won't run away from you when you approach them, letting you freely interact and feed them. How to feed Rabbits Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachPeaceful MeadowCarrotsRabbits will run away three times. Chase after them until you can interact with them. Next up is rabbits, who you'll mainly find in Peaceful Meadow early in your playthrough. Their favorite food is carrots, which you can purchase from Goofy's stall or grow from seeds you obtain from the Meadow's Night Thorns. Unlike squirrels, you'll have to chase rabbits around three times before they stop and let you feed them. How to feed Turtles Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachDazzle BeachSeaweedAs you approach, a Turtle will hide inside its shell. Wait a few moments until it reappears before interacting with them. On the right side of Disney Dreamlight Valley's map is Dazzle Beach, a coastal biome that houses adorable sea turtles. Their favorite food is seaweed, which you can find in any biome. Your best strategy for obtaining this resource is to avoid bubbling ripples while fishing. The sea turtle is the first critter you need to be cautious around. As you approach it, it'll hide in its shell for a few second before reappearing. When the turtle hides, stop moving for a second and wait for it to reveal itself again before moving again. Repeat this until you're in range to feed it. How to feed Raccoons Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachForest of ValorBlueberriesApproach only when the Raccoon’s head is down, or they will run away. Interact once you are close enough. Right above Dazzle Beach is the Forest of Valor, a wooded region full of raccoons. Raccoons love their regional food, with blueberries being their favorite. You'll find blueberries inside bushes scattered around the forest. As you enter their detection range, they'll go on alert, searching the area for predators and fleeing when it finds one. In this case, it's you. As they do this, stop moving until their head's down before continuing to move, repeating until you're within the raccoon's range. It'll then become passive, letting you feed it some blueberries. How to feed Crocodiles Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachGlade of TrustLobsterApproach only when the Crocodile’s head is down, or they will run away. Interact once you are close enough. On the opposite side of the map is our first mid-game region, the Glade of Trust. Within the glade, you'll find several crocodiles waiting to eat their favorite food, lobsters. You can find lobsters by fishing in orange fishing spots within the Glade of Trust. The crocodile has an identical movement and detection pattern to raccoons. Its head will go up once you're in range, so you'll need to wait until relaxes before approaching. How to feed Foxes Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachFrosted HeightsWhite SturgeonFoxes will run away three times. Chase after them until you can interact with them. Directly north of the Forest of Valor is Frosted Heights, a frozen tundra where you'll find numerous foxes. The fox's favorite food is the White Sturgeon, a rare fish you catch by fishing in orange spots within Frosted Heights. The fox has the same movement and detection pattern as rabbits. They'll run away as you approach, so keep chasing them down until they relax, allowing you to feed them some White Sturgeon and take one step closer to recruiting them as companions. They differ from other critters, as each differently colored Sunbird has it’s own favorite food. Their favorite food is Houseleek, a flower also found on Sunlit Plateau, with the bird's wing color determining the exact type. Sunbirds are friendly critters that will approach you without hesitation, much like squirrels. By the time you collect a few Houseleeks, you'll likely already have one nearby, ready to eat. If not, chase one down until it stops and lets you feed it some flowers. How to feed Ravens Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachForgotten LandsAny five-star mealSimply walk up to them, as Ravens don’t fly away upon approaching them. Our last critter within Disney Dreamlight Valley's base game is the raven, an animal only found within the Forgotten Lands. They have an expensive taste, with five-star meals being their favorite food. Like squirrels and sunbirds, you can easily walk up to them to feed them. The easiest five-star meal to produce is a Large Seafood Platter, as it simply requires four Shellfish—Clams, Oysters or Scallops from Dazzle Beach's shores—and a Lemon, which can be foraged from trees in the Forest of Valor or Glade of Trust. Their favorite food is the banana split, which you can create using the following ingredients: Slush IceBananaMilkSugarcaneAny sweets They have the same movement pattern as rabbits and foxes. Once you approach them, they'll mischievously run away. Continue chasing it until it stops and lets you feed it some delicious banana splits. Next is the Cobra, a critter native to the Glittering Dunes. Their favorite food is eggs, which you can easily buy from the Chez Remy restaurant's kitchen shop. Like raccoons and crocodiles, you'll need to watch its head while approaching it. How to feed Capybaras Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachWild TangleCabbageJust walk up to them. Capybaras don’t run away when approached. Our final A Rift in Time critter is the capybaras of the Wild Tangle. Their favorite food is cabbages, available from Goofy's Wild Tangle stalls. Like the real world, capybaras are chill creatures. You don't need to watch for any special movement patterns with them. Just walk up to them and give them a cabbage to make them happy. How to befriend critters in Storybook ValeHow to feed owls Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachThe BindBarleyJust walk up to them. Owls don’t run away when you approach them. Our next set of animals are those from the Storybook Vale, with The Bind's owls being the first you'll encounter. Their favorite food is barley, a grain purchased from Goofy's stall in The Bind. Like regular birds in Disney Dreamlight Valley's base game, you can walk up to owls and feed them without them going on alert or flying away. How to feed Pegasuses Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachMythopiaFour-star vegetable-based mealsThe Pegasus will run away when you approach. Chase after it until you can interact with them. Next is the Pegasus, an adorable critter that runs around Mythopia. They have a peculiar diet, eating only four-star or higher meals that are vegetable-based. If there's any meat within the dish, they won't be a fan. Like rabbits and foxes, Pegasuses will run away as you approach them. You'll need to chase them down to tire them out, letting you feed them some food and get another step closer to unlocking every critter as a companion. How to feed baby dragons Image by Destructoid LocationFavorite foodHow to approachEverafterPure Ice and MagmaApproach only when the dragon’s head is down, or they will run away. Interact once you are close enough. Our last Storybook Vale critter is the baby dragons within Everafter. They have two favorite dishes—Pure Ice and Magma—that you can find within Everafter and Mythopia. Unlike owls and Pegasuses, they'll go on alert as you approach them, so watch their head patterns and move carefully to avoid scaring them. Over time, you'll notice that every animal has different colors and appearances. Although this doesn't affect their behavior and favorite food, you can unlock each variant as unique companions. However, they only appear at specific times, so knowing every Disney Dreamlight Valley critter's schedule will help narrow down your search. 4. After spending several GPU generations struggling to climb out of limbo, AMD is now determined to fight back. Thanks to some very aggressive pricing and its new supremely capable RDNA 4 graphics architecture, the Radeon RX 9070 XT has already made a big splash, despite its largely fictional MSRP, and now AMD has Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5060 series in its sights with its new GPU, which we're testing now for our AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT review. Costing just $349 for the 16GB version, this new AMD GPU undercuts the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB by $80, at least in terms of MSRP, while the 8GB version has the same $299 price as the RTX 5060, while offering a lot more GPU power. Has AMD just made the best graphics card for gamers on a budget? I've been running the new GPU in loads of the latest games, as well as some older ones, to find out. The Sabrent Rocket Q4 is a 2230 form factor SSD, meaning it's a lot smaller than traditional SSDs, but its smaller stature makes it perfect for gaming handhelds. While the Steam Deck is still hands down the best gaming handheld for most, its storage options start from just 64GB and max out at 1TB, which in the modern gaming era is only enough space for a few big triple-A games. This SSD deal makes it much cheaper to upgrade your internal storage to as high as 2TB, and will set up your gaming handheld for the long term. Read the rest of the story... 8. A Switch 2 Edition for No Man's Sky will be available alongside the launch of Nintendo's new console, developer Hello Games has announced. This version will come as a free upgrade for current No Man's Sky owners, and offer a range of improvements such as full multiplayer, high-res texture support, and improvements to resolution and frame-rate. No Man's Sky on Switch 2 also offers cross-save and cross-play, so you can pick up exactly where you left off on Switch 1 — or elsewhere. Hello Games has said the Switch 2 version of its successful sci-fi adventure survival game is the product of 12 month's work getting to grips with Nintendo's new hardware, after receiving development kits a year ago. This new version arrives alongside (and, unsurprisingly, also contains) the latest big update for No Man's Sky, entitled Beacons. This overhauls settlements and adds town management to the game, with some surprising new features. Alongside new homesteads to discover, you'll be able to become mayor of multiple locations. This will let you design hangout locations such as bars or fishing ponds, defend your towns from attack, and even get involved in the lives of your settlers, welcoming them in and helping them resolve disputes. Beacons launches as a free update on all No Man's Sky platforms today, ahead of the game's Switch 2 version launching tomorrow, June 5. Nintendo has a swathe of Switch 2 Editions also set to arrive tomorrow, although some of these will need paying for, while others (Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom) also come included with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Today, Nintendo has released an array of updates to existing Switch 1 games in readiness for them to be played on Switch 2. For some, such as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, this means improved visuals on when running on Nintendo's new console. For others, such as Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, this includes support for GameShare sessions. Tom Phillips is IGN's News Editor. 10. Mirabel has some critter-related tasks for you to get done during Disney Dreamlight Valley's Parks Fest event. Tackling these quests is essential if you want to fully complete everything the event has to offer. All of Mirabel's asks challenge you to find specific critters around the valley, which can be a pretty daunting task if you aren't familiar with interacting with them. If this task has you stumped, here's how to complete Dreamlight Parks Fest: Critter Snacks in Disney Dreamlight Valley. To make progress in this quest, you need to select three unique Rabbits to interact with rather than feeding the same one multiple times. Rabbits also like several other foods, including most grains, spices, fruits, and vegetables. Since Mirabel's quest specifically asks you to give them their favorite food, though, you must stick to only giving them Carrots to get it done. Screenshot by Destructoid Before you can feed each Rabbit, you need to play a game of tag and chase them around the biome until they allow you to interact with them. You generally need to chase after them around three to five times before they're ready to be fed. With this quest out of the way, you can move on to tackling other important tasks in the Dreamlight Parks Fest event. Scrooge McDuck has several duties for you to get done, too, including Dreamlight Parks Fest: Dig It, Dreamlight Parks Fest: Ovals, and Dreamlight Parks Fest: Rectangles. If you need a break from quests, you might want to tackle crafting some Popcorn Buckets instead. To do so, you need to complete tasks like Mine Time!, Oh, Bother, Squirrel!, and A Shining Icon. 11. No Man's Sky continues its ever-evolving journey of free updates today with Beacon, but that's just part of the good news about the space exploration game. Developer Hello Games also confirmed a free update is coming to enhance the existing game on Nintendo Switch for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, and it drops alongside the new console tomorrow, June 5. Image via Hello Games "For the last year we’ve had this secret room with some Switch 2 dev-kits from Nintendo," the dev said. "New platforms are always exciting and our small team has loved pushing the new hardware to its limits." For starters, the Switch 2 version of No Man's Sky will support cross save and cross play and add full multiplayer, high-res texture support, an increase in pixel density in both TV and handheld mode, an increase in the resolution of the UI, full support for touch screen, and gyro controls. The free update for Switch owners on Switch 2 will also include Beacon, which "completely overhauls settlements, bringing towns and their management to the game, "including huge new robotic settlements to discover, with impossibly new sci-fi buildings." "Players can become town mayor and take ownership of multiple settlements," Hello Games said. "You can construct buildings and upgrade each one, with new building types like jukebox bars where you can choose the music, merchants where you can build custom starships or even ponds you can chill and fish at. Each inhabitant can be conversed with, with their own abilities and attributes to manage. As town mayor you’ll be enlisted to welcome new settlers, resolve disputes, and make choices to create prosperity." Beacon is the latest in a long line of free, massive overhaul updates to No Man's Sky, which has undergone a laundry list of quality-of-life changes since its original launch way back in 2016 to become an impossibly large space spectacle. And now, you can play it on the newest console out there when it launches tomorrow. [Hidden Content] But the Switch 2 is just one of many platforms where No Man's Sky can be played. The game, and Beacon, are also available on PC, PS4, PS5, PSVR, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PCVR, and Steam Deck. If you found the feudal festival of backstabbing that was Final Fantasy Tactics distressingly upbeat and wholesome, perhaps you'll be more impressed by Never's End, a new turn and grid-based RPG from Destiny's former lead sandbox gameplay designer Ryan Jucket with character designs from Final Fantasy artist Masayoshi Nishimura. It takes place in a world swamped by creeping undead darkness, and casts you as a warrior spirit wrought of deathless silver. Taking charge of the last surviving village, you will possess and burn away the very souls of townsfolk in order to transform them into battlefield units. Careful, though, because the more villagers you catch in your mirrors and reduce to living weapons, the stronger the Never becomes. Read more View the full article

  19. Surprise! Unknown Worlds has dropped a new 10-minute Q&A about all things Subnautica 2. The video interview between community manager Donya Abramo and creative producer Scott MacDonald gives us few more details about what's coming up in the action survival game, including confirmation that we're going back to a silent protagonist. There was also an emphasis on assuring fans that rather than being a co-op game that lets you play solo, Unknown Worlds has specifically designed Subnautica 2 to be a single-player adventure with optional co-op (yes, there is a difference!). As for just how big Subnautica 2 will be? "The playable map size will be ******* than what we originally launched in early access on the original Subnautica, and even Below Zero's early access release," said MacDonald. "But just how big and how deep you'll be able to go over the course of early access? We're not exactly sure yet. The entire world is being handcrafted by a talented team of world designers and environment artists, and they're pouring everything into the world right now. "We're aiming for this to be the biggest and most exciting Subnautica game ever once we hit 1.0 in a few years' time." Not everything is coming back ******* and better, though. Apparently, the Cyclops, Seamoth, and Sea Truck will not return, but new vehicles are being developed that are "designed in the same spirit, just more suited to the brand new environment they need to navigate." "Though a big sub won't be ready for the start of early access, know that the team is hard at work behind the scenes crafting one," added Abramo. While we're still no closer to a concrete release date, the team did confirm an early access ******* will launch later this year, and it's because of that early access ******* that the release is limited to PC and Xbox — there is no way of releasing an early access product on PlayStation as yet. There is sadly no VR support at this time, either. Right now, there are no plans for proximity chat, but the option is "being investigated" by the development team. In the meantime, it's recommended you connect with your pals via Discord. The new installment in the Subnautica series accommodates up to four players, taking them to an all-new planet, complete with new environments, flora, and fauna to discover. We still don't know when it's coming, but you'll be able to dive in sometime later in 2025 on PC and Xbox Series, including on Game Pass for top-tier subscribers. We thought predecessor Subnautica was amazing, awarding it a 9.1, writing: "Subnautica's a survival game with focus and an excellent sci-fi story, but its greatest achievement is its underwater horror." The last game in the series, Subnautica: Below Zero, similarly scored an impressive nine out of ten in its IGN review.
