In Remedy Entertainment’s January-March 2024 Business review, the company stated Alan Wake 2’s sales helped cover some of the game’s development and marketing expenses, but not all of them. In the Business review, Remedy had plenty of good news to report. Revenue has increased, the company acquired full rights to the Control franchise, and their EBITDA is down significantly. Yet, despite all that, it wasn’t enough to pay off the costs of making 2023’s Alan Wake 2. View the full article
A new hero is lurking in the lower ranks of Tekken 8 right now. JinMashima is dominating not only the Twitch.tv Tekken 8 category, but also the ranked ladder by mashing a single button over and over. Through repeatedly slamming 3 as hard and fast as they can, the whold world is witness to perhaps the purest Eddy Gordo experience of all time. The experiment started several days ago out of nowhere, with JinMashima booting up the stream with a simple layout. No webcam, no added background music nor notifications or sub goals. The only added feature to their stream is a fightstick button layout in the bottom left of the screen, on which you can see the 3 button repeatedly mashed at all times. Don't believe me? You can check the stream out right here. It's been a bumpy road for JinMashima, with the ranked grind ranging from hilarious highs to humbling lows. As of writing, the peak rank hit by the player is the orange ranks of vanquisher and destroyer in which they have a negative win-rate by all accounts. If we compare that to the published February ranked distribution among Tekken 8 players, this puts an Eddy player using a single button at a higher skill level as 44.83% of players. Think about that for a second. Read more View the full article
Unveiled last night at the IGN x ID@Xbox Digital Showcase, Vampire Survivors has received a free new update called Laborratory (yes, with two 'r's). It includes one new character, one secret character, three weapons, one stage, and a bonus go-cart racing stage. But perhaps most importantly of all, Poncle say they'll answer the question that's been on everyone's lips: "Why is it called Santa Water?". This is something that's puzzled me since the game's inception, and therefore, I will be thrusting myself back into the game where there are, in fact, no vampires at all. I need to know. Trailered last night, Centum is "an unreliable narrative-driven adventure where everything may be a lie", according to the Steam page. Does the suggestion that everything may be a lie also apply to the suggestion itself? Is this an unreliable Steam page? Perhaps the game is secretly a cheerful Playmobile platformer with plentiful ledge-assist, rather than a horrible point-and-clicker that starts you off in a dark cell with a bunch of obviously cursed artefacts, and gets steadily worse. Never say an old dog can't learn new tricks, as it seems like Netflix is making a new live-action version of Scooby-Doo. I would say that these days, every new take on Scooby-Doo is kind of flogging a ***** horse, yet they keep making them, so somebody's got to be watching them. As reported by Variety, another one is in the works once more, this time apparently another live-action outing. According to Variety, the one-hour drama project is getting close to a deal with a script-to-series commitment. Plot details haven't been shared, so all that's known about it right now is that it will be a live-action take on Scooby-Doo. Warner Bros. Television will also apparently produce, making this the latest time the production company is working with the streamer, as the two also worked on ***** Boy Detectives together. Josh Appelbaum, best known for writing the live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films and Scott Rosenberg, known for 2018's Venom and the Jumanji reboots, will both serve as writers on the show, and will also work with André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner as executive producers under their Midnight Radio banner. For the most part both writer's previous works don't inspire confidence, even if I do love Venom, but they've certainly had some successful projects at the very least. Read more View the full article

The extraction shooter subgenre continues to grow, with new and exciting releases appearing on the scene every few months. Usually, these games only exist in pre-release trailers and hyperbolic blurb about their level of ballistics simulation, but most never see the light of day. Grey Zone Warfare, the debut game from Madfinger Games, is attempting to change that. The indie extraction shooter is available for purchase today, so players can actually see for themselves whether the hype has been justified. Read more View the full article

Wow, remember Starfield? I do, just about, although any interest in it feels like a distant dream now. But not to Todd Howard! The Bethesboss had a chat with Kinda Funny and confirmed that Shattered Space, the first big DLC for the brave little space RPG that could, has a release window of "in the fall". Shattered Space adds new locations and stories and gear, and is the sort of DLC that was announced before the game came out, and you got it bundled with some of the super mega hyper awesome pre-order editions (you can still get it bundled with the Starfield Premium Edition if you want to spend an extra 30 quid). Before that, though, Howard says we should expect (via VGC via the video) "a big update that's coming really soon", and that "we redid the map stuff, so we have some city map stuff." This is the literal first thing I complained about when I reviewed Starfield. Vindication! This is one of a number of changes teased on Starfield's Reddit community at the end of last year. The latest Helldivers 2 patch introduced plenty of balancing changes, including several nerfs to weapons from the Democratic Detonation Warbond—and players are frustrated. One of the weapons that got hit by the nerf hammer is the CB-9 Exploding Crossbow. In Patch 01.000.300, the crossbow’s stagger was increased at the cost of the **********, and players aren’t impressed. A Helldivers 2 player shared a video on Reddit that summarizes everything you need to know about this nerf. View the full article
While we've all been caught up in Fallout fever, Starfield, the latest game Bethesda's actually released into the world, has kind of taken a ********* in most of our minds - something that's arguably been happening since the start of this year. Now, though, Todd Howard has provided a bit more info on the updates that're in the works for the game, including the Shattered Space expansion, which is coming later this year. Yup, while Bethesda's had a lot on its plate recently with regards to Fallout 4's rather troubled next-gen update, as well as the Fallout show that pretty much everybody and their mum seems to love, Todd's not gonna let folks forget about his big space baby. Speaking to Kinda Funny Games, Howard provided a bit of an update on Starfield's roadmap. First of all, he confirmed that "Shattered Space is in the fall", putting a season on the story expansion, which we'd only previously known was set for some point in 2024. So, there's some of your post-summer plans sorted. Read more View the full article
Amazon's Fallout series has quickly proven popular as in just over two weeks, it's already become the streaming service's second-most-watched show. I could probably tell you how popular the Fallout show has been just from looking at my timeline, but I think the confirmation of a season two, alongside just how many people are playing Fallout 4 again, is more concrete as evidence. More definitive than that, though, is the fact that according to Amazon, the Fallout series has become Prime Video's second-most-watched show in its first 16 days of release (via THR). It also said that 65 million viewers globally have watched at least some of the show since it was released, with the only series to have performed being The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, but there's no surprise there really, is there? Apparently most of the viewership came from outside the US, with 60% of Fallout's audience coming from global territories, quite the funny thing given its whole 50s Americana vibes. More than anything though, this proves that Bethesda probably should have had something Fallout lined up on the games front - those Steam sales surely helped bring in quite a few sales (Fallout 4 sales were up 7500% in Europe), but even a spin-off would have gone down massively with the release of the show. A recent report from The Xbox Two podcast's Jez Corden claimed that Xbox wants the next Fallout game to release faster, though with The Elder Scrolls 6 up next, and Bethesda only working on one game at a time, some other plans might need to be drawn up. Though, at this point it might be too little too late to capitalise on the show's hype. Read more View the full article

Corki has been one of the most picked champions in the League of Legends pro scene for years. But nobody likes to watch him farm for 30 minutes and group up every 10 minutes for a teamfight. That could all be about to change in Patch 14.10. On April 30, Riot Games developer David “Phreak” Turley released a video outlining a series of crucial Corki changes coming to Patch 14.10. The champion is getting an overhaul, but the biggest change, by far, is the removal of his most iconic ability, The Package. This works like Rumble’s ultimate, with Corki sweeping into the eye of the ****** and leaving a blazing trail behind him. On top of this, Corki is getting a 15 percent bonus true damage, including Sheen. View the full article
Image: Supercell Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland is becoming a playable video game character in Clash of Clans this week. It’s the first time a real person has been added to the game, and footballer Haaland will become the Barbarian King character during a month-long football-themed seasonal event. Clash players will be able to recruit the Norwegian striker or raid his village and ruin it — perfect if you’re an Arsenal fan like me. Haaland has played Clash of Clans for more than 10 years and reached out to Supercell, the Finnish game developers behind the popular mobile game, to make a partnership happen. Supercell jumped at the opportunity. “When we heard Erling Haaland was a fan of our game and that he wanted to partner with us, it was really... Continue reading… View the full article
Addons are a crucial part of World of Warcraft. Not only can you use them to help you during intensive dungeon and raid encounters, but there are addons for basically anything—auction house, professions, and gear. Patch 10.2.7 could change that. According to a dataminer, Patch 10.2.7 could be the end of addons as you know it. They discovered addon comms are “severely rate-limited server-side” in the current version of Patch 10.2.7 (currently live on the PTR). This should render plenty of addons useless, namely TRP3, a roleplaying addon that allows players to create their own profiles that others can see and interact with. The loading speed of this addon should now last between 20 and 90 seconds, and it could take longer in areas like Goldshire. View the full article
