Dawntrail, the most recently released expansion for Final Fantasy 14, is a new episode in the game's ongoing story but also marks a new beginning. The first expansion to release after Endwalker concluded many of the game's longest-running storylines and plot threads, Dawntrail is something of a reset for FF14, lowering the stakes from the previous expansion's universe-ending threats to focus on a more down-to-earth adventure in the unfamiliar continent of Tural. However, while the expansion starts as a relatively simple adventure, the later parts of the story leading into the ending might not be what players expect. View the full article
A rare interaction in Baldur's Gate 3 reveals a hidden reference to an important piece of video game history, but most players will never discover it, and even fewer will understand it. Baldur's Gate 3 is full of Easter eggs and pop culture references, most of which take place through intricate dialogue wording or the flavor text in Inspiration pop-ups. Whether it's one of BG3's references to classic D&D concepts and player hangups, or an out-of-left field quote from A Midsummer Night's Dream, these cultural touchstones help connect players to the characters, and immerse them in the story. Somewhere out in space is a pristine planet of bountiful resources and unspoiled nature. That sucks, but FICSIT has the solution to this pristine blemish on the industrialized galaxy in the form of a single worker with very few tools and a can-do attitude! Massage-2(AB)b will give everything an inquisitive worker could ever hope for in order to supply her company with its needs, from ore to... more ore. Plus biomass and the occasional geyser to assist with power needs, although that latter option will require some serious infrastructure to take advantage of. But that's ok, a FICSIT employee is a motivated employee, and everything they build is a part of an ever-expanding network of automation that's another step on the relentless march towards satisfying the company requests. When Zenless Zone Zero released, most critics familiar with the action-RPG genre knew what its immediate point of comparison would be for its potential audience. As a HoYoverse game, ZZZ exists in a world where Genshin Impact is the bar for every release from the developer following it. While Honkai: Star Rail was different enough that judging the two games side by side was pretty quickly dismissed, Zenless Zone Zero isn't turn-based, and its reliance on satisfying, quick combat is certainly more reminiscent of its older sibling. Crafting in Final Fantasy XIV is just as complex as any DPS rotation, if not more. If you’re planning to get into high-end crafting in Dawntrail, you’ll need to set up some advanced crafting macros to streamline the process. With crafting macros, you can automate endgame crafting to make it a hands-off background task instead of an intense but tedious chore. For the most part, following FFXIV‘s community resources after each patch works perfectly well. However, if you prefer a different substat meld than the recommended meta or just want to get crafting right away instead of waiting for guides, it’s worth learning how to make or tweak your own advanced macros. New revelations about Marika's past in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree completely alter the perception of two prominent bosses from the base game: Morgott, the Omen King , and Mohg, Lord of Blood . The well-received Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sends the Tarnished into the Land of Shadow in pursuit of Miquella. While Shadow of the Erdtree chiefly revolves around the eternally youthful Empyrean, the very nature of the Shadow Realm ensures the DLC expands drastically on the history of the Lands Between and Queen Marika herself. As a major new third-person looter shooter, The First Descendant is built on a lot of promises for the future. While the game has plenty to enjoy at launch, it's following a live-service model of continued development and expansion, and remaining competitive in the long run will heavily depend on where the game goes from here. It's already received criticism for some of its approach to monetization, so there's certainly room to improve the average player experience even aside from major gameplay and content additions. Sometimes it's not enough to make your own game, sometimes you have to go a step further. That's exactly what Minecraft Console Edition developer 4J Studios is doing with its new Elements Engine, a voxel-based tool it has created to facilitate the creation of its next game. Come with me back to 2015. The second Avengers film is tearing up the film charts, Adele was saying Hello, and a little game called Batman: Arkham Knight was having the worst time ever. Released on PC in a truly atrocious state, it wasn't long before it was pulled from ***** for a few months for the game to be spruced up and put back out there. Eventually what we got was one of the most improved PC ports ever, but it took quite a while and its reputation never quite recovered. Read the rest of the story... It’s exhausting out here and, yes, it is definitely the time to be aware, determined, and vigilant about our crumbling world, but jeeezzus freakin’ cracker do I need some bread and circus. And there’s nothing more carbs and carnival these days than wrestling, so let’s ***** into it. I raised this question last week but I wanted to get a lay of the IGN reader landscape right now. We’ve got Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock on the horizon. The best bet is WrestleMania 41 (the actual 40th Anniversary of ‘Mania). So does Cody hold the WWE Undisputed Championship until then? Like, is that a given? After years of Roman Reigns being guaranteed a safe title ride between ‘Manias, are we back at it again? That’s not to say Cody couldn’t lose the belt and then win it back before ‘Mania. That used to happen all the time. But now, with The Rock looming, would that diminish Cody somehow? Make him less of a champ if he dropped it briefly? Also, is there a world where The Rock’s physical People’s Championship comes into play? Would it work if Cody wasn’t champ come ‘Mania time and the two battled over that particular prize? The one, perhaps, The Rock values more? It would spread the world title wealth while still providing the marquee Sunday Main Event. Wow. Jeff just f***kn’ lost in Round 1 of the Owen Hart Cup, didn’t he? That was unexpected given the heartfelt promos he did regarding Owen Hart and their bond. Jeff’s video dropped the same week as the first of the Howdy Bo-mos, making for a pretty heart-wrenching week involving people remembering and mourning those they’ve, and we’ve, lost in the industry. And Jarrett's words seemed to be teeing him up for, in the very least, two wins in the tourney and a match against Daniel Bryan in the finals. And the brackets seemed to be setting him up for a semifinal bout with friend Jay Lethal. But nope! J-A-Double R-E-Double T was over and done with right out of the gate when Adam Page returned (with new subpar heel music) and brutalized him. Do we think Jarrett’s just out of this now for real? And now Page will take down Lethal with the same relative brooding ease? Like, there’s no “wild card” spot Jeff could take to hop back in? I appreciate the coldness of this. That was way harsh, ****. This week's Dynamite also got me immediately interested in the MJF/Daniel Garcia match at All In. I’m glad they didn’t drag out Maxwell’s heel turn any long and just sort of skipped to the good part since he’s felt like a somewhat middling presence since his return. Also it gives me hope that they’ll finally pull the push trigger on Garcia, even though he’s not “the guy” in my mind. He’s fine but I think I’d just be happy if they let someone escape the A-E-Dub shuffle from which too many folks find themselves lost inside. So regardless, I’m in. All In? Who can say? Despite being advertised at one point for mid-April, the WrestleMania XL: Behind the Curtain doc finally set sail this week, complete with an intro that includes a voice over saying “few roads we travel in life are straight, the journey ***** in how we navigate the turn and forge the paths before us.” I haven’t watched it all yet but I’m amused that it begins with the messaging of a story of, like, a guy who climbed Mount Everest with no feet. Not a wrestling promotion pivoting from Rock vs. Roman Reigns because no one wanted it. Now, with this doc finally out, there’s some online chatter -- which is absolutely the worst chatter to ever chatter -- about whether it was right or not for Cody to “go into business for himself.” I guess completely ignoring the fact that just Rocky being back was all about himself and his new board seat and stock payouts and whatnot. But, it does set me up for ONE MORE POLL. When Cody and Rock square off again, should it be the same as it is now? With Cody as the babyface vs. Hollywood Rock? Or should Cody be heel at that point? And then The Rock comes back as an earnest favorite? Like Third Eye ****** once asked, “How's it going to be?“ KNEELIFT! Watch Wrestling! View the full article
