NetherRealm Studios has announced a whole new expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 called Khaos Reigns, and it promises more story, as well as six new characters. If you've been waiting to hear about the next batch of characters coming to Mortal Kombat 1, you're in luck, because a whole bunch of them have been revealed at San Diego Comic-**** this week. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed ***** made an appearance at the **** to reveal the game's first expansion, as well as the game's next Kombat Pack which revealed all six of its characters. Three of them are Mortal Kombat classics, Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot, but the other three will actually be guest characters: Terminator T-1000 from Terminator 2, Ghostface from Scream, and Conan the Barbarian, from, uh Conan the Barbarian. None of these are likely to be a surprise to any of you, as a datamine from a month back already found evidence of these six characters, but still, it's nice to have them confirmed. You'll also likely be quite happy to hear that Ghostface's iconic voice actor Roger L. Jackson will be reprising his role for the game, as if there could be anyone but him. Robert Patrick is obviously lending his likeness to the T-1000, but he's also returning to voice his character too. Conan the Barbarian will only feature Arnold Schwarzenegger's likeness, though, and a voice actor wasn't confirmed. Read more View the full article

The Boys might be wrapping things up after its fifth season, but Amazon clearly doesn't want that success to end, so a Soldier Boy prequel is now on the way. Remember when The Boys was supposed to be a satire of modern superhero media? Me too! But, money talks, and what it's telling Amazon is to make yet another spinoff of The Boys, this time focused on Jensen Ackles' character Soldier Boy. The show was announced at a presentation focused on the series at San Diego Comic-**** this week, where showrunner Eric Kripke brought Ackles on stage to join the other main cast, where he initially revealed that Soldier Boy was going to be a series regular in the upcoming fifth season. Ackles then went on to share a statement, saying: "We are excited to announce the next unhinged chapter of The Boys Universe called Vought Rising. The producers are writing the scripts right now. It will be a lurid pulp saga prequel set in New York City at the dawn of the 1950s about the humble yet diabolical beginnings of the Vought Corporation. I will be starring as Soldier Boy." Prime Video has released the first teaser trailer for its live-action take on the Yakuza series, Like a Dragon, but don't expect too much from it. We're very much in the age of video game adaptations at the moment, with shows like The Last of Us and Fallout, and films like the Super Mario Bros. Movie finding a lot of success. So it was no surprise when ***** and Amazon announced Like a Dragon: Yakuza, the latest live-action take on the beloved game series, last month. Now, at San Diego Comic-****, Amazon has released the show's first trailer and it… doesn't show us all that much. There's plenty of shots of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, portrayed by Ryoma Takeuchi this time around, getting his iconic tattoo done, as well as a few other shots of men looking very serious - one of them even sheds a tear - but it's hard to garner what the show will actually be like. The Yakuza series does of course have its serious moments, but it's also filled with a lot of silliness too, which this trailer is severely lacking in. Let's hope a full trailer will help make the tone a bit clearer than this one, but it looks promising enough all the same. Like a Dragon: Yakuza's official logline explains: "Spanning across 1995 and 2005, the series follows the lives of childhood friends, and the repercussions of the decisions of Kazuma Kiryu, a fearsome and peerless Yakuza warrior with a strong sense of justice, duty, and humanity." It was also announced that Kiryu's main companion, Akira Nishikiyama, also just known as Nishiki, will be played by Kento Kaku. Read more View the full article
