The upcoming Xbox Games Showcase may reveal Microsofts next console, and if the rumors surrounding it are correct, the Xbox Portable will avoid the mistakes of the lackluster PlayStation Portal. Despite the Portals financial success, its longevity is dubious, as an expensive gadget with the singular function of streaming games from a PlayStation console. PlayStation fans have been able to do this on their mobile devices and computers for some time thanks to the PS Remote Play app, and the officially licensed Backbone controller offers ideal tactile controls for mobile users, making the Portal entirely pointless. What now for ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League? The live service shooter flopped to the tune of $200 million upon its launch earlier this year, and ever since players have wondered just how long support would last. Following a Bloomberg report into the development of the game, the author of that report, Jason Schreier, has tweeted to say Rocksteady is now providing “some barebones support, definitely not as much as they’d originally planned.” Some barebones support, definitely not as much as they’d originally planned — Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) June 6, 2024 That’s a worry for ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League’s small but loyal fanbase, which is made up of fans who continue to play the game despite its failings. And it calls into question how long publisher Warner Bros. will have Rocksteady devote resources to the game. According to Bloomberg, staff at the studio are currently working on a director’s cut of the phenomenally successful Hogwarts Legacy, while leadership pitches a return to single-player following this live service misstep. Warner Bros. has so far ******* to respond to IGN’s request for comment. ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League did look set to receive new content (the game recently teased the introduction of Mrs. Freeze as a playable character for Season 2) in the short-term, at least. But Rocksteady has yet to announce Season 2 or what it will add to the game. Season 1 added Joker as a playable character. Datamining has suggested playable characters on their way include Mrs. Freeze, Lawless, and Deathstroke. But will ******** Squad: ***** the Justice actually get these playable characters, or even subsequent seasons? The game’s community, such as it is, has declared the game ***** following Bloomberg’s report. “I honestly don’t think the planned Seaons 2 to 4 are happening,” redditor Gizmo16868 said. Those in the game’s official Discord have already turned their attention to Rocksteady’s next game and the hope it will rekindle the excitement around the studio’s much-loved Batman: Arkham series. For now, though, it seems a question of when, not if, ******** Squad: ***** the Justice League goes the way of so many live service failures and its developer officially moves on. Cyberpunk 2077 has no shortage of customization options with its lifepaths, skill trees, and Cyberdecks that boost replayability. Surprisingly though, the CD Projekt title never got a New Game Plus mode, which has been a standard-fare feature in almost all modern RPGs. The game’s lead quest designer, Pawel Sasko, explained CDPR’s reasoning in a June 5 interview with Dualshockers. According to Sasko, the conscious decision not to introduce a New Game Plus mode was solely based on the game’s narrative structure and how tacking it on would diminish its story. Amazon’s MMO New World looks set to hit consoles after the game was spotted on the PlayStation Store. Redditor OMG_R3A11Y saw New World appear on their console's PlayStation Store and published a screenshot before the listing was apparently removed. New World launched in 2021 on Steam and became a rare video game hit for Amazon. The free-to-play MMO set in an alternate 1600s America saw huge concurrent player numbers on Steam, and is currently the eighth most-played game on Valve’s platform all-time with a whopping 913,634 peak concurrents. Player numbers have declined since that peak, however, with Steam concurrents hovering around the 10,000 mark in recent weeks. A console release would certainly provide a boost, and a confirmation seems imminent after the official New World X/Twitter account teased “an exciting announcement” for Summer Game Fest, which kicks off today, June 7, at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 10pm ***. A new dawn approaches Look out for an exciting announcement tomorrow during #SummerGameFest. Starts 2PM PT on [Hidden Content]. [Hidden Content] — New World (@playnewworld) June 6, 2024 Questions remain, however. The PlayStation Store insert is for a game called New World Aeternum, whereas the Steam version is simply called New World. Perhaps the console version is a different game entirely, or Aeternum is the name of a new expansion that will replace the original name across all versions. Or, New World Aeternum may mark a new beginning for the MMO, similar to Final Fantasy 14 A Realm Reborn. Fans are also wondering whether New World is also set for Xbox Series X and S, given the insert was spotted on the PlayStation Store. Image credit: OMG_R3A11Y / Reddit. Simply titled Volgarr the Viking 2, the long-belated sequel is set to revive the franchise with a more brutal successor that aims to significantly enhance the gameplay elements of its predecessor while sticking true to its old-school arcade roots. When is the Dynasty Warriors Origins release date? Ever since the PlayStation 2 era, the Dynasty Warriors series has focused on two key concepts: having more playable characters than a typical fighting game, and battering through thousands of enemies. Now, it seems that the newest game in the long-running series is focusing on one unnamed protagonist, but at least they're still slaying tons of foes at once on their journey through the history of the Three Kingdoms conflict. While we barely know how this single playable protagonist affects the story in the action game, we'll likely get to make key decisions that affect the war. In Dynasty Warriors Origins, you may discover the consequences of pursuing Lu Bu at Hulao Gate and preventing Guan Yu from reuniting with Liu Bei. Perhaps you'll even determine who the new Emperor of China will be. Read the rest of the story... View the full article

Fallout: London's developers have locked in a new release date for the game-sized mod, and it'll seemigly be coming up very soon. Yup, while the exact date's been settled, the team has decided not to fully reveal it quite yet, keeping us all on our toes. If you're out of the loop, Fallout: London's a full conversion mod for Fallout 4 that's set to let us explore a post-apocalytic version of the English capital, complete with fresh factions and quests. In my eternal quest to describe games concisely enough that you don’t feel robbed of time you could have just watched a trailer with, I am compelled to use many of the same words and word combinations ad nauseam. Another remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved looks to be in the works, and - close your eyes if you've attatched your happiness to a certain green brand in a rather unhealthy manner - could be in consideration for a release on PS5, in what would be a pretty noteworthy moment for a series that's long been considered one of Xbox's hallmark exclusives. This is according to a report from The Verge's Tom Warren, who writes that this new Combat Evolved remaster is in the early stages of its development right now. The report goes on to suggest that it's one of the games under consideration for a PS5 release as part of Microsoft's new strategy of actually bringing some of the titles it'd previously have held on to as exclusives to the consoles of direct competitors. You know, the likes of Nintendo and Sony. The internal name for this game plan, according to Warren, is "Project Latitude". Read more View the full article
