  3. 22 years ago a game was released which went under the radar for many. A sequel to the 1982 classic horror film The Thing, it didn't review overwhelmingly positively but those who played it found something special in those frozen, ******* filled halls. Innovative and chilling, it nevertheless lay forgotten for over two decades. That is, until now. Read the rest of the story... View the full article
  4. The trailer we saw at Summer Game Fest 2024 gave us a glimpse of some of the gameplay we can expect, with a mix of Sonic and Shadow dashing through a variety of remade levels from generations. All of this of course paired with a EDM x rocky soundtrack that fits right into the year of Shadow. You can watch the trailer yourself below! We also got to see the ultimate edition of the game, which comes with a journal, and a retro Sonic skin for those who pre-order it. The game is looking to be a super rad recreation of one of Sonic's more popular and beloved games. Will you be picking it up? Let us know below! Read more View the full article
  5. Alan Wake 2 is one of 2023’s most acclaimed games. As fans of Remedy know, however, the studio is never done with a game after its release. Last year, we learned that the psychological horror action game would be getting some extra content. Today, we got to see it in action and learn a lot more about it, thanks to an appearance on the Summer Game Fest kickoff event stage. Sam Lake took to the stage to reveal our first look at the DLC, alongside some surprising news: it'll be available in less than 24 hours, tomorrow, on 8 June. Read more View the full article

  7. I’m not familiar with the proto-internet cartoon ******* Bean, but Graham assures me it’s fairly important in the history of online animation. Regardless, I’ve been won over by the upcoming video game of the same name from original creator Jeff Lew, which looks to blend together Just Cause stunt shenanigans, John Woo slo-mo gunfights and the energy of a third-person action game you would’ve found in a bargain bin for the PlayStation 2 in 2002. It’ll hit early access this summer, courtesy of a fresh look from tonight’s Summer Game Fest showcase. Read more View the full article
  8. Image: CBS Studio The title sequence for the Among Us animated series made its debut during the Summer Game Fest on Friday. During the sneak peek, we got a glimpse at each of the characters and their various roles aboard the Skeld. We first heard about the Among Us series last year, which is made in collaboration with CBS Studios, Among Us developer Innersloth, and Titmouse, the animation studio behind Big Mouth and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. We already know some of the characters — and their voice actors — that will appear in the show. Some of the biggest names include Randall Park as the captain Red; Ashley Johnson as the security chief Purple; Patton Oswalt as the contest winner White; Elijah Wood as the unpaid intern Green; Phil LaMarr as... 9. A surprising new entry in the Horizon series has just been confirmed at Summer Game Fest in the form of LEGO Horizon Adventures, and it is going to launch on Nintendo Switch in addition to the expected PlayStation 5. Guerrilla Games introduced gamers to the futuristic world of Horizon with 2017s Horizon Zero Dawn, which told the story of a young Nora outcast named Aloy as she set off to find her destiny in a world dominated by animal-like machines. This story continued in 2022s Horizon Forbidden West, as Aloy and her allies worked to rebuild a powerful terraforming AI and prepare for a coming threat from beyond the stars. View the full article

  12. Although you may know Blumhouse for their strange and not-so-scary horror films, it seems like Blumhouse has some insane-looking upcoming games. Blumhouse’s six games look incredible, despite their mid filmsThe Five Nights and Freddy’s movie was a blast to watch, but it wasn’t as scary as I’d hoped. Then there’s M3GAN, which was intentionally silly and an unmemorable movie. On the flip side, Blumhouse’s surprising bevy of games, announced at Summer Game Fest, threw my hype levels out the roof.At first, you thought it was just one game, then it was two, and suddenly it turned into six unique and slightly horrifying video games. I’d be happy with just one, but six games with elements of horror will make any fan of the genre excited. Image: BlumhouseIt makes you think that Blumhouse couldn’t have spearheaded these games, right? Working with creators like Sam Barlow and Brandon Cronenberg who are known horror creatives for...View the full article

  14. We finally have a release date for Slitterhead. The game, which we've known about since December 2021, has been shrouded in mystery for years. But we've had our biggest, and best, look at the title to date at Summer Game Fest 2024. The game is due to release on November 8, 2024 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Seires X and S, and PC. But you probably already knew that because you saw the leaks earlier today. The game is headed up by Keiichiro Toyama, the ********* creator who is known for working on Silent Hill, Siren, and the Gravity Rush series of games. Toyama has previously said that Bokeh Game Studio's first project will be a horror-orientated title that will be made "in his own style" that is partly inspired by what he refers to as "****** games", noting that the theme is prevalent in ********* manga and that setting them in "brutal worlds" is becoming something of a theme. 15. If you’ve been paying attention the loot shooter or Korean MMO scene recently, or really watched enough summer showcases, you’ll no doubt be very familiar with The First Descendant. Though the name may not immediately stand out, you’ll likely remember it when you see it. The First Descendant is the free-to-play, third-person loot shooter from Nexon, effectively its answer to Destiny. The game has been in development for a little while now, and players event got to try it out as part of various beta tests. Read more View the full article
  16. Boheh Game Studio's horror game Slitterhead will release for PC on November 8th 2024, the developers have revealed at this year's Summer Game Fest. They've also popped up a new trailer, which is PS2 as *****, in what I consider to be the best of ways. Read more View the full article
  17. A French game about mountain climbing? No, not that one. This is Cairn, not Jusant, and it’s actually a very different ******. Jusant could be tricky, but climbing was more the way you experienced its story. In survival climber Cairn, the ascent is the story. It seem to mainly be a story about how bad you are at climbing. 18. In what is only the third ever piece of videogame-related media to make me weep at my keyboard, Volgar the Viking devs and retro specialists Digital Eclipse have announced a Power Ranger videogame - Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind. It's a 90s-**** side-scrolling arcade brawler for up to five players, involves "time twisting", and has mode-7-style arcade shooter bits together with the original TV show's climactic mecha transformation sequences. 19. LEGO Horizon Adventures being revealed to the world opens the floodgates for where the LEGO games can go. This can create limitless and unique possibilities that I for one am looking forward to. A whole new territory to explore We’ve seen how expansive LEGO can be with brands like Starwars. However, by collaborating with other game makers like Epic with Fortnite, experiences can be more unique. The proof is in the pudding. Just take a look at the world of LEGO Fortnite. The inclusion of the toy brand took Fornite to new heights, so I can safely predict that if they go beyond Fornite, we can see a whole slate of new types of games.Image: Guerrilla Games Walk before you can runBefore we even talk about the future of the brand, we have to see if LEGO Horizon Adventures will be hit or not. While everyone loves LEGO and everyone seems like Horizon Forbidden West, so it seems like a no-brainer. However, mixing two pieces of media that are very different from o...View the full article
  20. You may know Montpellier-Based developers The Game Bakers as the folks behind the hack-and-slash bullet ***** game Furi, or the romantic sci-fi RPG Haven. What you may not have known that apparently, all of these games were part of a trilogy. As explained during tonight's Day of the Devs showcase (NOTE: or the main Summer Game Fest showcase, apologies, as this article was written in advance), these games have been part of a trilogy of freedom, with Furi being all about wanting to live free, and Haven centering around freedom to love whoever you want. And their new game that the debuted, Cairn, is about "...pushing beyond your limits, and breaking free from your obsessions" according to CEO Audrey Leprince. And indeed, there's nothing that fuels that kind of freedom more than climbing a massive mountain, far away from the rest of world, and conquering it even when things seem impossible, as seen in the reveal trailer below. 21. The Summer Game Fest kickoff livestream continues to deliver, with the next item on the docket being a fresh look at Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the follow-up to the 2018 action RPG from Warhorse Studios. Deliverance 2 was unveiled back in April with a fairly extensive trailer, and today’s footage continues the hype train rolling. No release date yet though! Still just coming in 2024. 22. Jason Blum has taken to the stage at Summer Game Fest 2024 to reveal that Blumhouse Games hasa whole roster of games in the works from multiple studios, no doubt thrilling people who like being scared by things the world over. Let's start with Crisol Theater of Idols from Vermila Studios, which looks to be my (Kelsey's) worst nightmare as someone with a pretty big distaste towards dolls. Then there's what looks to be like a pixel-art horror adventure by Perfect Garbage, first-person experience Sleep Awake from Eyes Out, ***** the Spotlight from Cosy Game Pals, and The Simulation from PlayMeStudio. That's not all, either, with a sixth project in the works, currently coined Project C. With the visionary minds of Sam Barlow and Brandon Cronenberg attached to it, and nothing but a cryptic quote about the future to go off, I think it's safe to say we can probably expect the pair to develop something mind-blowing. Or unique, at the very least. Read more View the full article
  23. The next installment in the beloved strategy-sim franchise has been confirmed after an accidental ***** earlier in the day: Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 is coming to PC and consoles in 2025. The confirmation comes after a panel and banner for Civilization 7 appeared accidentally on the 2K Games website just hours before the Summer Game Fest showcase today. This accidental ***** followed rumors from months back that Firaxis was working on the next installment in the series. View the full article

  25. Get ready to turn back the clock, because it’s morphin’ time! Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a classic, retro-style co-op arcade game coming soon, and it looks glorious.
