  6. It's tough to make a zombie game stand out these days. After the deluge of undead themed projects that have come out over the last decade or so, it takes a novel premise and solid ********** to grab an audience's attention. Fortunately, Terminus: Zombie Survivors looks to succeed on both of those counts. It has the free form design of State of Decay, visuals that call to mind Project Zomboid and the close up combat encounters of the Game Boy ******'s Resident Evil Gaiden, and the top down perspective of Darkwood (and the first Grand Theft Auto games). It also combines these influences successfully enough to be attracting positive attention on Steam following its 1.0 version's launch. Read the rest of the story... 7. Deadlock is not even out yet, but has at least been acknowledged by Valve. With all the sharing restrictions lifted, and more and more players flocking to the game, the need for optimal builds has risen sharply. So, here is our best Wraith build for ultimate carrying potential. Optimal Wraith build in Deadlock Wraith is a true hyper carry hero in Deadlock, capable of dealing massive damage quickly. So quickly, in fact, she almost one-shots her opponents. However, as carries often do, Wraith lacks solid defenses and can become vulnerable quickly, so our build here will focus on a well-rounded carry approach that will help you stay alive and dish out as much damage as possible. 8. FromSoftware titles have never been known for their overt storytelling, and Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree continues in this vein by making players dig through notes and item descriptions to get the lore of the Land of Shadow. Sometimes, there are little nuggets of more overt storytelling, like cutscenes or pieces of dialogue that are vague and mysterious. These are few and far between, however, since half the fun of Elden Ring's world-building comes from hunting every scrap that Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin have left behind. 10. Syndicates are your best friends and worst enemies in Star Wars Outlaws. Throughout your journey, you’re going to have to work with ********* groups—often against other ********* groups. This will lead to changing relationships and rewards with different Syndicates. While you don’t necessarily have to completely alienate one Syndicate to gain a good reputation with another in Star Wars Outlaws, it usually is the case that completing a job for one organization won’t go down well with another. And your reputation with each Syndicate will determine how they treat you, possibly making some jobs easier—or more difficult if a Syndicate particularly dislikes you and just wants to ****** you on sight. 14. Tactical combat fits into just about any videogame setting. The Commandos series takes place during the Second World War. Mimimi Productions set Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun in feudal Japan, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew in an alternate history Golden Age of Piracy, and revived the late 19th century set Desperados with Desperados 3. XCOM involves a sci fi alien invasion and Marvel's Midnight Suns is filled with superhero battles. Even the Gears of War shooter series fit into the genre well with Gears Tactics. It isn't surprising, then, that the upcoming Shadow of the Road's premise - a 19th century Japan where steampunk technology and creatures from folklore exist - would look so promising when it uses a blend of tactical combat and RPG game storytelling for its design. 15. As of late, Saudi Arabia has been making a concerted effort to establish itself as the esports capital of the world—an effort that might just be paying off given the success of the inaugural Esports World Cup and the truly staggering budget poured into it. Some think the deference shown in the face of all that Saudi money might be going a bit far, however. Twitch superstar xQc was one of many streamers who co-streamed the Esports World Cup, with a disclaimer in the stream title disclosing that he was paid to do so as a means to get more eyes on the burgeoning event. Even if he hadn’t been so upfront about being sponsored, however, fans might have been able to guess from one moment in particular. View the full article

  20. Enlarge / Look! A wild Valve game appears! (credit: Valve) [/url] If you read Ars Technica regularly, you've known since May that Valve is working on Deadlock, a mishmash of genres that has been slowly amassing SteamDB-tracked players through an invite-only playtest. Over the weekend, Valve took the "hiding" part out of that "hiding-in-plain-sight" test, launching a bare bones Steam page for Deadlock, the company's first attempt at developing a new gaming franchise since collectible card game Artifact launched in 2018 (and fell apart in 2021). The new page, which went up on Saturday, has precious little information about Deadlock, save for a description as "a multiplayer game in early development" and a 22-second trailer that essentially pans over a piece of concept art. Everything from the game's system requirements to the release date is still "TBD," and players who are lucky enough to get "friend invites via our playtesters" are promised "temporary art and experimental gameplay" on the Steam page. Not that a Steam page is strictly needed for more info on Deadlock at this point. Since the first leaks months ago, the playtest has slowly expanded from hundreds of players to tens of thousands, including some who have posted extensive impressions of the game. Valve has also reportedly lifted rules regarding streaming for invited playtesters, leading to a surge of players showing off live gameplay on Twitch. 21. Dragon Ball has many inspirations, none more notable than Journey to the West — the famous ******** novel that also served as the basis for ****** Myth: Wukong. Now Dragon Ball Z and ****** Myth: Wukong are being ******* thanks to a new mod that replaces The Destined One with Son Goku. The new mod is a relatively straightforward swap — no kamehameha or going Super Saiyan here — but it is pretty neat to see Goku running around ****** Myth: Wukong's incredibly detailed world. He can even zip around on the equivalent of the Flying Nimbus, the magic cloud that itself was borrowed from Journey to the West and appears in ****** Myth: Wukong. Check it out in the video below. You can download the Son Goku ****** Myth: Wukong mod right here. Aside from Son Goku, a host of other ****** Myth: Wukong mods let players swap in Tifa, swap The Destined One's staff for a double-bladed lightsaber (very cool), and make tweaks to various aspects of the visuals and performance. Whether you play with Goku or not, though, you'll need a pretty beefy rig to be able to enjoy ****** Myth: Wukong. Our reviewer Mitchell Saltzman utilized a top-of-the-line setup with a GeForce RTX 4090 and he still dealt with numerous crashes and other issues. Still, that hasn't stopped ****** Myth: Wukong from enjoying record concurrent numbers on Steam en route to selling 10 million copies in just three days.
