This morning I left my torpid flat in search of coffee, sniffed the restive wind, noted with approval the gloom gathering beneath the trees, and thought: at last, summer is over. At last, we quit the disgusting sunlit months. At last we leave all that is green and good behind, and return to the time of monsters. Supermassive Games and Behaviour Interactive must have gotten the memo too. They've just released a demo for their next horror game The Casting Of Frank Stone, in which you are a policeman, Sam Green, who is investigating the disappearance of a child. The search leads you to Cedar Hills Steel Mill, "where chilling secrets await, revealing a far more sinister truth than anyone could have anticipated". I am anticipating: QTEs during escape sequences, branching choices that get people *******, and General Mature Content appropriate to the coming of Halloween. Read more View the full article

It looks like Sony accidentally published the LEGO Horizon Adventures release date on the PlayStation website. Gematsu reports that redditor foreveryoung1108 spotted a November 14 release date for the PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch spin-off on the PlayStation website. That release date is no longer live. According to [Hidden Content] home page, LEGO Horizon Adventures is launching November 14. Possible Nintendo Direct announcement? Spotted by Reddit user foreveryoung1108: [Hidden Content] Gematsu page: [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] — Gematsu (@gematsu) August 27, 2024 Current speculation is that the release date is set to be announced during today’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, which follows Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase due to kick off at 7am PT/10am ET. LEGO Horizon Adventures has appeared at prior Nintendo showcase events, most recently June’s Nintendo Direct, so it would make sense that a release date would pop up today. LEGO Horizon Adventures is an action adventure game inspired by the world of Horizon, and designed for two-player, couch co-op play. It’s a family-friendly take on Horizon, co-developed by main Horizon developer Guerrilla Games, and Studio Gobo, with Aloy as the star and very loosely following the story of Zero Dawn. We've previously seen LEGO collaborate with Sony for actual physical LEGO sets based on Horizon. IGN previewed LEGO Horizon Adventures earlier this summer and came away impressed. “LEGO Horizon Adventures presents a massive toy box to tinker, fuss around with, and most importantly, laugh about,” we said. To find out how this strange collaboration between Guerrilla and LEGO came out, check out IGN’s interview with Guerrilla Games narrative director James Windeler from Summer Game Fest. World of Warcraft: The War Within is officially out today, which means you - yes, you - can boot up the game right now and get an espresso shot of that lovely new-expansion experience. It's the best time to play an MMO y'know, before everything settles down and you're stuck running raids on a weekly schedule. The expansion has you and other players venture down into Azeroth's underbelly looking for loot, Xal'atath, and roughly a billion giant spiders who ironically aren't too fond of you hanging around. It's already been playable for those who bought special (and more expensive) version of the expansion, but now the gates have been thrown open for the entire playerbase to hop in. As for what's available right now, the whole leveling experience is there, as are delves and a full spread of dungeons on normal and heroic difficulty. Fast forward to September 10, and the Normal, Heroic, and Raid finder tiers of the raid release (raid finder is locked to the first wing initially), giving players the first truly difficult content of the expansion. Stop what you’re doing. You know the Starfield moon buggy, the one that arrived for free last week, after being revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live? Well, it’s now followed in the footsteps of Skyrim’s dragons and the actual spaceships it shares the settled systems with by being turned into Thomas the Tank Engine by modders, because of course it has. Since the vehicle arrived, it’s been earning lots of positive reviews from would-be cosmic Clarksons, and within just a few days was providing the framework for a host of mods that swap it out for everything from a Star Wars landspeeder to a Crimson Fleet-liveried van. Well, it’s taken just under a week, but there’s now one that turns it into Thomas the Tank Engine, allowing you to do some skids and jumps on some far-flung moon aboard Sir Topham Hatt’s favourite locomotive. You definitely won't be surprised to hear that the remake of cult classic The Crow has flopped at the box office, much to the pleasure of the original's director. Ever since a remake of The Crow was announced, pretty much everyone universally said "really? That's the film you're remaking?" Obviously the original film is based on a comic, but most people know the 1994 movie first and foremost. One such person that didn't seem particularly convinced about the remake is the original film's director, Alex Proyas, who shared his feelings on how it should have been left alone earlier this year. Star of the 1994 version Brandon Lee was unfortunately fatally wounded by a prop **** during *********, which is essentially the main reason why the remake has been so controversial. And now, it's clear that audiences really weren't interested in it, as it opened with a stunningly low $4.6 million opening against a $50 million budget. It's pretty clear that the film isn't going to make that back, and just kind of highlights how much of a wasted effort it was. If you're finding a bit of joy in its ********, you're not the only one, as Proyas has shared some more of his thoughts on his Facebook page since the film launched. "Wow. Box office is a bloodbath," wrote Proyas in one post, continuing in another, "I thought the remake was a cynical cash-grab. Not much cash to grab it seems." Read more View the full article
