  6. Yakuza Kiwami, the remaster of the first game in the series, is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch this October, allowing you to experience the opening tale of Kazuma Kiryu's story - depending on whether you fancy playing prequel Yakuza 0 beforehand - on the handheld. As revealed during today's Nintendo Direct, a Switch port of RGG Studio's game about big Kaz battling his bro Akira Nishkiyama and first getting to grips with the idea that Goro Majima's going to haunt him for the rest of his days by popping up all over the shop and asking for a scrap is on the way. It's set to release on October 24, 2024, giving you a couple of months to prepare yourself for a trip to Kamurocho with both it and the TV adaptation Like a Dragon: Yakuza looking set to arrive on the same day. How do you do that? I dunno, maybe practive switching between stances as you batter some goons, and then loose just a whole bunch of money running around your local town doing a bunch of weirdly captivating side activities. 7. Deadlock has a brilliant cast of characters, but some players are growing increasingly afraid of one of them: Yamato. A few people have even pointed out that she looks like the woman in the painting from Stephen King's IT, which I honestly couldn't see at first, but the more I look at the side-by-side comparison, the more terrified I am... 8. Need even more fighting games in your collection? Capcom Fighting Collection 2 should help out with that. Capcom announced a brand new Fighting Collection during today's Nintendo Direct, adding in some more, underrated fighting game classics to your ever-growing collection. There'll be eight games in total in the collection, and includes: Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium ****** 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 UPPER, Project Justice, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, and Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein. These ones are definitely more for the ********* fighting game fans, but still, Capcom's commitment to keeping its back catalogue alive is still worth commending. Like the previous collection, there'll be a museum where you can check out lots of different pieces of art and behind the scenes bits across the various games' history, always a neat feature of Capcom's remasters. You'll also be able to check out frame data if you really want to get nerdy with it in training mode, and you can save mid-game to pick up quickly. Best of all, yes, there is rollback netcode - for all the non-fighting game fans out there, this essentially just means that you'll have a smooth experience playing any of these games online (which you'll also be able to do in ranked matches, if you fancy putting yourself out there). 9. How the mighty are fallen. In a bygone era, Tiberium harvesters and chariot archer rushes were a mainstay on my monitors, and my keyboards bore careworn lines where the 'build archery range' shortcut keys lay. It was a time of plenty, but modern real-time strategy games are far rarer, and that means the stakes always feel high when one arrives. Particularly one that starts with Age of..... 13. Image: Konami Three of the best Castlevania games are launching on the Switch very soon — Nintendo just revealed the Castlevania Dominus Collection, which will be available on August 27th. The bundle brings together the trilogy of Castlevania titles that originally debuted on the Nintendo DS; that means Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. As a bonus, the 1987 arcade game Haunted Castle is also included. Konami says that the games have been updated with “extra features such as save states or rewind.” That might make up for the lack of a second screen for displaying the map. With the launch, the Switch is slowly turning into the ideal Castlevania machine thanks to a number of other bundles, like the Castlevania Anniversary... 15. The MySims Cozy Bundle has just been announced at the Nintendo Direct. A single game containing both MySims and MySims Kingdoms, it'll launch on the Nintendo Switch on November 19. The MySims series has remained largely abandoned since the release of MySims Sky Heroes in 2010. But hey, these two picks from the short-lived spin off for the Sims franchise were beloved for their time, so it's nice to give them some modern love on a brand-new platform. You can watch the trailer for yourself down below! It looks as though there's no new content to go alongside these modern ports, so you're getting a pretty standard package here. Nonetheless, great news for MySims fans, who have likely grown up and gotten far less glamorous ****** jobs than the ones present in the MySims series. No doubt a bit of childhood nostalgia will help, especially from two frankly amazing Sims games. Read more View the full article
  16. After an unexpected delay and quietly vanishing for a year, Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster has reemerged with a new release date of March 6, 2025. In today's Nintendo Partner Direct, we got a new look at the remastered collection, whose full title is Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster: Gate Dawn and Dunan Unification Wars. 17. Image: EA MySims is back, and it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch. A new bundle featuring revamped versions of EA’s MySims and MySims Kingdom will revive the classic simulation titles with Switch-optimized controls and updated textures. If you’ve never played MySims, it’s sort of like a cross between The Sims and Animal Crossing. In the mainline game, you’re tasked with rebuilding a run-down town by procuring blueprints, constructing houses, and making furniture to attract new residents. Each character has their own unique characteristics, like the bug-loving Gertrude Spackle and Yuki, who often threatens to ***** your face for some reason. MySims launched on the Wii and Nintendo DS in 2007 before arriving on PC and Blackberry. MySims Kingdom, which... Continue reading… View the full article

  19. PowerWash Simulator, that game about cleaning stuff, is getting an official Shrek DLC pack later this year. Yes, you read that right. As revealed during the indie world section of today's Nintendo Direct, the paid pack will feature five maps from the Shrek universe for you to clean up, including the swamp everyone's favorite ogre calls home, because of course they'd let you clean that. Also confirmed is the Dragon's Lair, which I assume is where she and donkey got it on, so Lord knows that'll probably need some cleaning. There's also a new knight outfit for your powerwasher so that you can roleplay as Prince Charming while you clean stuff. Read more View the full article

  24. When you see that matter-of-fact, red-text 'You *****' screen, naturally the first thing that comes to mind is Dark Souls, or any of FromSoftware's punishing RPGs. Similarly, when you think pixel art and dungeon crawling, you think Darkest Dungeon, and all its macabre esotericisms - the slow descent in mental anguish and soul ******. But there is a place more brutal, more terrifying, than even the world of Lordran or the bleakest depths of Red *****'s ancestral manor: Reddit. Available to try right now, an experimental puzzle game is only playable via the internet's infamous front page, and incorporates the social experience to both heighten and soften your struggle. 25. Dungeon crawlers and roguelikes go hand in hand; pushing your way through room upon room of enemies in Hades 2 and furiously clicking them into dust in Diablo are two sides of the same coin. Progression is tight, reactions need to be quick, and the flow state is immaculate.
