Nintendo is appearing to forgo its usual September Direct with a pair of presentations coming tomorrow, all in one livestream. There are pretty much two times a year you can expect a Nintendo Direct: June, which is non-E3 season, and September, which probably has some kind of financial reason, but any which way, there's pretty much always a September Direct. But it seems like Nintendo is doing things a little differently this year, as it has announced today that tomorrow, August 27, there will be not one, but two Nintendo Directs. Kicking things off at 7am PT/ 10am ET/ 3pm BST is an Indie World presentation, which as you can probably tell from the tin, is all about indie games. If you're expecting a new Mario game here, I can't help you. Right after that, there'll be a Partner Showcase, which always features announcements from third-party developers, so don't expect anything about the upcoming Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom or Metroid Prime 4. The two of them together will run for about 40 minutes total. But of course, you might be wondering if there's any chance of the Nintendo Switch 2 showing up. The answer? Nope! Nintendo shared in a follow-up tweet that there will be "no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during either of these presentations," so if you're the kind of person to spam "Switch 2?" in the livestream chat, please consider reassessing who you are. Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws is finally out later this week, but the reviews are already in for the Red ***** Redemption-esque game, leaving just one question: how is it? Well, it depends on who you ask, as while most reviews are generally favourable, it's sitting pretty much all over the spectrum of review scores. Jim landed on the higher end for us at VG247, giving the game 4/5 stars in his review, which you can check out here. While Jim did make it clear that Star Wars Outlaws won't win many Game of the Year awards due to a mixture of reasons, it still manages to capture a very particular Star Wars vibe that helps you feel young again - and it helps that the game looks great too. Still, Jim isn't the only one with opinions about Star Wars (too many people have opinions about Star Wars), but you can check out some of thoughts and scores others have shared below: Read more View the full article
Konami has released a wealth of new screenshots from Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 officially called Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. The screenshots, below, show the remake isn't changing either the serious tactical espionage action of the original or the ridiculous, almost cartoonish elements. Protagonist Snake can be seen creeping around enemies in the forest and ********* at a rubber duck. Snake can also be seen in various states of battle worn, from feeling fresh in new camouflage to going ******** covered in blood. It also shows a handful of enemies, a revamped UI, and the first person mode players can jump into when looking for some extra precision. Announced in May 2023 after a series of rumours, Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater promises to be a faithful retelling of the original game. Konami has already confirmed it's coming to Xbox Series and PC alongside PlayStation 5. A 2024 release date is expected according to PlayStation itself, though a handful of trailers from the game have since arrived with no word on an exact date. In IGN's first preview of the game, we said: "This new, [original lead Hideo] Kojima-less Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been. It’s an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault. Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day. View the full article
The Lenovo Legion Go from its most distinctive angle. | Photo by Sean Hollister / The Verge It’s not clear if Lenovo’s Legion Go handheld gaming PC was a success after its initial rough start last fall and its middling experience by the time I reviewed it this spring — but Lenovo is pushing forward. Not only is it planning a successor, possibly a smaller seven-inch one, but it’s also just revealed an array of new accessories for the console. Images: Lenovo The Legion Go’s new dock, joystick caps, carry case, and “charging connector” gamepad wedge. Exploits in MOBAs are few and far between, but when they happen, they tend to be game-breaking. Such is the case with Hand of Midas in Dota 2, which players can now use to farm massive amounts of gold with no cooldown whatsoever. Players spotted the exploit and shared it on the game’s subreddit and the Dota Cinema YouTube channel on Aug. 26. In all the clips, players use the Hand of Midas, an item that grants a good amount of gold when cast on creeps, with no cooldown—pulling off the trick with a few simple clicks. View the full article

It’s been hard to stay positive about Concord’s chances of success after a disastrous debut earlier this year, a beta that – while fun – struggled to capture enough players’ attention, and early access numbers that were worrying to say the least. In fact, this review wasn’t ready last week because pretty much everyone that was already playing the game ******* to find matches of its round-based mode, which is unlocked past a certain player level. That’s how rough it’s been out there. But hey, player numbers aside, is Concord actually fun and compelling as a competitive online shooter? Well, kind of. And that’s its biggest issue. Sometimes, everything clicks and results in something that might just have the juice needed to grow and evolve, but the true moments of joy are just far too rare. Let’s address the elephant in the room first: Concord reportedly took eight flippin’ years to fully develop, which sounds absurd to me. Even at its best, and taking into account the lofty (and clearly unnecessary) production values on display, Concord isn’t huge. At launch, there are 16 characters, 12 maps, and 6 modes (in three totally separate playlists). On top of those, the ‘solo’ experience is limited to a practice range, a general tutorial, and five pretty basic time trials, all built with the same assets seen in the main multiplayer experience.
